TRON Lightcycle Ride Vehicles Photo Op Installed at Magic Kingdom

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom today were surprised by two ride vehicles and a photo op for the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster, opening at the park in 2021. Located outside of Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. in Tomorrowland, this advertisement for the upcoming attraction is sure to intrigue many a guest.

What was most surprising about the ride showcase was that the ride seems to be sponsored by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. While the version at Shanghai Disneyland is sponsored by Chevrolet, many attractions recently built Walt Disney World attractions have not had sponsors.

There is also a diagram next to the ride vehicles that depicts how guests will board the vehicles at the station when the ride opens. While there are ropes around the ride vehicles right now, the “Loading Procedure” sign makes it seem that guests may be allowed to try out the ride vehicles in the near future.

Construction Update: Tron Roller Coaster

Get ready to escape into the mainframe with TRON Lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom! Yesterday, the first few pieces of track got installed, and overnight, it seems more pieces were also added. Let’s see what the software engineers have made progress on so far.

You can see how the launch portion (down by the lower right-hand side of the photo) then leads right into a curve that takes guests up and around the illuminated outer canopy portion of the ride. This section comes straight out from the show building, up overhead past guests entering and leaving the ride, and into the main show building.

For a look into what the completed attraction will look like, check out this video of its sister attraction, the TRON Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster:

Walt Disney World Railroad To Remain Closed Until 2021 Due To TRON Construction

The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed since the beginning of 2019 for track work in relation to TRON Lightcycle Run construction. Images have circulated of missing track near Tomorrowland as work is done to reroute the railroad through the TRON attraction.

It has been speculated that the railroad would remain closed until TRON Lightcycle Run was ready to open due to the proximity to the railroad. Now, we have confirmation as internal refurbishment calendars have shown the Main Street Railroad Station will remain closed for all of 2020.

Interesting to note, however, is that the Fantasyland and Frontierland Stations are listed as reopening at the beginning of 2020. At this time, it is not known if the refurbishment schedule for these stations has been updated yet, or if the railroad will operate in “shuttle mode” back and forth between the two stations, as it has in Disneyland in previous times.

Update On Tron Coaster Construction

Thanks to WDWNewsToday for the pictures and the update.

Tron Construction at the Magic Kingdom is progressing nicely as the last internal beams are placed. Now, focus has moved to the entrance queue.

There is a new focus on completing the infrastructure of the sweeping queue. From the base, to the supports, to the electrical work: The enormous queue and its related areas are being secured. Many of the workers are now focused on that task.

Inside that orange boundary is an 8-foot deep hole. This appears to house much of the exterior’s needs, like HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. Plus, the swooping entrance queue is massive and heavy. Therefore, it will need strong support and a thick base.

This is a decent clue as to how long we will have to wait for the return of our beloved Walt Disney World Railroad. Above is the end of the tracks in this location. Until the TRON queue progresses much further, there is no way for them to re-add the tracks. They are currently missing from here to just under the PeopleMover and Space Mountain.

The TRON coaster will be ready in time for the 50th Anniversary of Magic Kingdom.

Avengers Coming to California Adventure and Disneyland Paris

California Adventure and Disneyland Paris will new Super Hero themed lands in the future. That was already known. What wasn’t known was what they would be called.

Yesterday, Disney announced these fantastic lands will be called Avengers Campus.

When guests visit Avengers Campus, they will become part of an interconnected, global story that spans from California to Paris to Hong Kong with the Avengers recruiting new extraordinary people to join them.

Inside the pavilion at D23 Expo, guests will be able to see an in-story experience where they’ll learn why the Avengers are building these campuses. And on Sunday, more details will be shared about what the guests will be able to experience when they open.

The pavilion will also feature many of the attractions and lands coming to sites around the world including TRON Lightcycle Run coming to Magic Kingdom Park, as well as additional expansions in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

This will only be one of many announcements at this year’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. Stay tuned for more updates.
