New Limited Release Tomorrowland MagicBand

If you’re a fan of all things progress and retro-futurism, you’ll love this new Limited Release MagicBand to just arrive at Walt Disney World. With Space Mountain and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress celebrating their 45th Anniversary on January 15th, it’s a big week for the land of tomorrow, so if you’re a turn-right-at-the-hub person, it’s time to show your Tomorrowland pride.

The band features a Tomorrowland Speedway car on one end, plus a Space Mountain rocket, and the Astro Orbiter. There’s even a vintage astronaut Mickey and a rocket ship.

On the other side, you have the exterior of Space Mountain, the Carousel of Progress, a tiny Skyway gondola cabin, and a long row of Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover cars. Down on the bottom, you have stars, moons, and planets, and Mickey hitching a ride on an Astro Orbiter rocket.

As a Limited Release, it retails for $29.99.

PeopleMover Getting a Refurbishment

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is a personal favorite of mine, as well as a fan favorite for many passholders and guests.

Well, due to its increased popularity, it seems they’ve added it to the ongoing list of refurbishments and improvements. Tomorrowland received a series of new paint jobs not too long ago, and more recently, we’ve seen Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. get new phone charging stations, as well as construction walls in Mickey’s Star Traders. Now, the PeopleMover appears to be getting refreshed support beams:

Tomorrowland Speedway Reopens

After a lengthy 5 month refurbishment, Tomorrowland Speedway is open once again at Magic Kingdom. According to sources, the track was not changed much, just shortened.

This had to be done to make room for the new TRON roller coaster.

The speedway which opened in with the Magic Kingdom has went through many changed over the years. It was known as Grand Prix Raceway until 1994 when it was changed to Tomorrowland Indy Speedway until 1999.

It has been shortened many times as well, most significantly prior to the opening of Space Mountain.
