We have exciting news! Construction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure continues to take shape, and later this summer, a tiara-topped water tower emblazoned with the Tiana’s Foods logo will make its way to Magic Kingdom.
Disney Parks guests will get to experience Princess Tiana’s story like never before following the attraction’s debut at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort in 2024, and what a party it will be! The story will pick up where the film left off as guests join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure down the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou to original music inspired by songs from the film.
Our team of Imagineers recently traveled to New Orleans to capture the true essence of the Mardi Gras celebration, the energy, the colors, the rhythms of the music, all that and more to infuse into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to create lots of memorable fun for guests! Check the link below to see!
Splash Mountain has closed at Magic Kingdom, and work is underway to transform the attraction into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Disney has revealed new storyline details for the upcoming attraction that is set to open in late 2024.
From a Disney Cast Member;
At a young age, Tiana developed a deep passion for cooking, and began to dream of one day owning her own business. Her father, James, taught her that good food brings folks together. One of the most exciting parts of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is that we’re going to see where Tiana’s life has taken her following the success of Tiana’s Palace, a restaurant she had dreamed of owning and worked so hard to make come true.
Walt Disney Imagineering is creating an original, next chapter story for Tiana. Within the attraction queue, guests will discover that she continues to grow her business with Tiana’s Foods – an employee-owned cooperative. Combining her talents with those of the local community, Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine and built a beloved brand.
The endeavor began when Tiana purchased the salt mine and the area surrounding the large salt dome it operated from. With the help of her mother Eudora, Naveen, Louis and fellow owners of the cooperative, Tiana revived the old salt mine and the surrounding land, growing a wide array of vegetables, herbs and spices for her recipes.
This multi-faceted enterprise has turned the aging salt mine into a space that has come alive. Complete with a boutique farm and both a working and teaching kitchen, Tiana’s Foods is where Tiana and her colleagues create all sorts of new products that they are bringing to the world, including a line of original hot sauces.
Tiana wants to give a big thanks to her family and friends and the entire community for all the support they’ve given her by throwing an amazing party during Mardi Gras season. When it turns out there’s been a bit of a mix–up with the party preparations, Tiana invites us to meet her at Tiana’s Foods to help with the missing ingredient for the party.
When we arrive, we may see that Tiana spruced up the company’s facilities with vibrant art from local artists. Food for the party is being prepared and beignets are being loaded into crates for the celebration. All kinds of preparations are underway for the journey into the bayou with Tiana, along with new and familiar friends from the animated film.
Picking up where that story left off, Tiana continues bringing people together with Tiana’s Foods, another treasured meeting place to spend time together and celebrate a diverse community. Tiana is also working with cooperative members to teach gardening and cooking to children of all ages, and inspiring other women to run successful businesses as the brand grows nationwide.
There’s big news this afternoon about Disney’s plans to begin the work of reimagining the Splash Mountain attraction at Walt Disney World!
Disney first announced its plans to reimagine the wettest ride in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom back in June of 2020, and earlier this year, Guests were privy to more information about the planned reimagining–one that will trade the Song of the South theme at Splash Mountain for a Princess and the Frog theme, complete with a brand-new take on the attraction itself.
The new name for the attraction was also unveiled: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. And according to Disney Fandom, the new ride will pick up after the kiss in the original Disney film from 2009:
“The story takes place after the ending of the film, around 1927. Tiana’s Palace has become enough of a success that Tiana and Naveen decided to expand their business and establish an employee-owned food cooperative, Tiana’s Foods, which has purchased an old salt mine to serve as a headquarters. As Tiana prepares to host a large party for Mardi Gras, she and the Guests journey into the bayou to find a key ingredient for the festivities.”
On Friday afternoon, news broke about a new permit filed by Disney World, which lists a project titled, “CY1899,” and while that particular title has not been publicly shared as corresponding to the reimagining of Splash Mountain, the address on the permit, 4955 Caribbean Way, does seem to correspond to the walkway that leads Guests to the Splash Mountain attraction in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom.
The permit was filed on October 13, 2022, and expires on June 30, 2024, which also correlates to Disney’s announcement that the newly-rethemed attraction would open to Guests in late 2024. But a look at Google Maps confuses the whole scenario, as Google shows the location closer to the Jungle Cruise attraction.
We’ve been anticipating the reimagining of the Splash Mountain attraction at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and we’ve got more exciting news to share about the all-new experience that was first announced in the summer of 2020.
According to reports about details announced at the ESSENCE Festival, the new name of the Princess and the Frog-themed attraction will be “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.” Finally, we know what to call the new experience, rather than only referring to it as the “Princess and the Frog-themed version of Splash Mountain.”
We have also learned that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is projected to open to Guests at both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort sometime during late 2024, according to ITM.
In June 2020, when the reimagining of the attraction was first announced by Disney Parks, Disney Parks Blog had this to say about the new experience:
The theme is inspired by an all-time favorite animated Disney film, “The Princess and the Frog.” We pick up this story after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.
Tiana is a modern, courageous, and empowered woman, who pursues her dreams and never loses sight of what’s really important. It’s a great story with a strong lead character, set against the backdrop of New Orleans and the Louisiana bayou. In 1966, Walt himself opened New Orleans Square when it became the first new “land” added to Disneyland Park, so it feels natural to link the story and the incredible music of “The Princess and the Frog” to our parks.
It remains to be seen how Disney will choose to tell the exciting story of “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!” We will keep you updated as more details are announced about this new experience at Disney World and Disneyland!
