Tim Allen Shares First Set Photo From Disney+ Series ‘The Clauses’

A few months ago, it was announced that Disney was working on a limited series based on The Santa Clause movies. While they’re hardly considered Christmas classics, news of Tim Allen’s return as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus felt like Christmas had arrived very early.

Shortly after, it was confirmed that his co-star from The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006), Elizabeth Mitchell, would also be reprising her role as Carol Newman/Mrs. Claus.

More recently, we learned that Tim Allen’s real-life daughter, 13-year-old Elizabeth Allen-Dick, had been cast as his on-screen daughter, Sandra. Now, the latest news has left us wishing the rest of the year away, seeing as the series is set to arrive on Disney+ before Christmas.

Tim Allen has taken to Twitter to share the first ever set photo from the upcoming Disney+ series, beneath a caption that reads, “Might just be a photo of Santa Claus’s office but don’t tell anyone….”. Check out Allen’s festive Twitter post below:

It sure looks like Christmas has come early, as this is clearly a shot of Santa Claus’s North Pole office, which we’ve already seen in all three The Santa Clause movies – although it looks like it’s been given a slight makeover since we last saw it in 2006 (and no doubt a good clean too).

The official title for the show is The Clauses (TBA), which makes sense given that it will focus on Scott and Carol’s family, as they struggle to raise their children, manage the unenviable task that is Christmas from the North Pole, and find an eventual replacement for Scott Calvin/Santa Claus.

The Clauses stars Tim Allen (Scott Calvin/Santa Claus), Elizabeth Allen-Dick (Sandra), Elizabeth Mitchell (Carol Newman/Mrs. Claus), Kal Penn (Simon Choski), Matilda Lawler (Betty), Austin Kane (Cal Calvin), Rupali Redd (Grace Choski), and Devin Bright (Noel).

The series will be directed and executive-produced by Jason Winer, who is best known for the hit US sitcom Modern Family (2009). Jack Burditt, whose name is associated with equally popular sitcoms 30 Rock (2006) and Frasier (1993), will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

This isn’t the first time Disney has taken one of their own movie franchises and adapted it for Disney+ — The Mandalorian (2019), The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (2021), and Monsters at Work (2021) are just a few examples. Upcoming projects include Zootopia+ (2022).

The Santa Clause Trilogy is now available to stream on Disney+. The new series started shooting in March and is expected to begin streaming later this year.

‘The Santa Claus’ Series Casts Tim Allen’s Real-Life Daughter

Back in January, Tim Allen sent out a tweet that put fans into a tizzy. The tweet announced that Allen would be reprising his role as Scott Calvin AKA Santa Claus for a new series coming to Disney+. The series will also see the return of Elizabeth Mitchell who played Carol Calvin, AKA Mrs. Claus in both The Santa Claus 2 and The Santa Claus 3: The Escape Clause. Kal Penn has also been cast to play Simon Choski, a single father, game inventor, and product developer.

Now we have some more casting news and this time, it’s staying within the Allen family. Tim Allen’s daughter, Elizabeth Allen-Dick will appear as a series regular and is slated to play Scott Calvin’s daughter. Allen-Dick will be playing Sandra, the youngest child of Scott and Carol, who has grown up at The North Pole. According to Disney, Sandra is a strong personality who has a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong. She also has a strong connection to the animals that live at the North Pole because there are no children her age there.

Here is more information on the brand-new series coming to Disney+.

In the Disney+ series, Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.

Austin Kane has been cast in The Santa Clause series as Allen-Dick’s brother, Cal. In the series, Cal — Sandra’s older brother — is struggling to figure out what he wants to do with his life. He knows that he does not want to be at the North Pole, but he doesn’t know how to live in the real world. Rupali Redd will be playing Grace, Simon’s daughter. And Devin Bright will be playing Noel, Santa’s right-hand elf.

In addition to starring in the series, Tim Allen will also be an Executive Producer. The series will also have Allen reunite with Jack Burditt. Burditt and Allen worked together on Allen’s last big series, Last Man Standing. For The Santa Clause series, Burditt will be an Executive Producer and also showrunner. While there is no official release date for the Disney+ series, many are hoping that it will be done in time for the 2022 holiday season.

Tim Allen to Reprise His Role as Santa for Disney+!

The holidays may be over and done with, but we’re feeling all sorts of jolly with the newest announcement coming in from Disney! That’s right, Tim Allen is making a comeback to reprise his role as the man in the red suit we all know and love… SANTA!

Disney+ has announced the big news that Disney Legend, Tim Allen, will once again become everyone’s favorite Santa Claus with a new The Santa Clause limited series. The highly-anticipated series will be executive produced by Tim Allen and is set to begin production in Los Angeles this March. Along with Allen, the award-winning Jack Burditt will be an executive producer and showrunner, and Kevin Hench, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina will also serve as executive producers.

D23 has said The Santa Clause series will be set after the trilogy of The Santa Clause films. “In the Disney+ series, Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.”

The Santa Clause

Tim Allen made for the perfect Saint Nick with his portrayal of Scott Calvin for the 1994 The Santa Clause and won a People’s Choice Award for his performance. He then reprised the role in two sequels, 2002’s The Santa Clause 2 and 2006’s The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.

Disney fans know Allen as far more than just his red suit as Santa Claus, but also easily recognize his voice as Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s Toy Story film franchise.
