Two Disney+ Shows on Top 10 Streaming List

Via DisneyTips.com

How did you spend your holidays in 2020? Well, it looks like many of us spent it streaming our favorite shows and films. Nielsen’s Top 10 data from December 21 – 27 has rolled out. It looks like Disney+ has crept in on the usually Netflix dominated list! Two Disney+ hits get high marks as first and fifth spots.

As shared by Variety: Disney+ Soul got over 1.66 billion minutes of viewing time in the span of two days reaching first place. The Mandalorian, the record-breaking champion of the week prior, descended to fifth place over the holidays, obtaining about 1 billion minutes of viewing time. The win marked the first time that a non-Netflix show landed at No. 1 on Nielsen’s streaming ranker.

Nielsen’s rankings are based on the number of minutes consumers who have access to streaming platforms are viewing during the week. Streamers such as Netflix, Amazon and Disney Plus do not release their own detailed stats and these streaming measurements are based on Nielsen estimates. Nielsen also factors Hulu into its top 10 rankings. Here’s the Top 10 in full:

  • “Soul” (Disney Plus) (movie) – 1,669 minutes (millions)
  • “The Office” (Netflix) (192 episodes) – 1,435 minutes (millions)
  • “Bridgerton” (Netflix) (8 episodes) – 1,204 minutes (millions)
  • “The Midnight Sky” (Netflix) (movie) – 1,113 minutes (millions)
  • “The Mandalorian” (Disney Plus) (16 episodes) – 1,024 minutes (millions)
  • “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” (Netflix) (movie) – 705 minutes (millions)
  • “The Crown” (Netflix) (40 episodes) – 700 minutes (millions)
  • “Grey’s Anatomy” (Netflix) (366 episodes) – 691 minutes (millions)
  • “Christmas Chronicles 2” (Netflix) (movie) – 660 minutes (millions)
  • “Criminal Minds” (Netflix) (277 episodes) – 651 minutes (millions)

Thomas Kinkade Introduces New Star Wars: The Mandalorian Collection

Via DisDining.com

Thomas Kinkade is known for his stunning art work that features iconic scenes from beloved Disney films. Now, Kinkade has added The Mandalorian to his collection and they are breathtaking.

Currently on Kinkade’s website there are four different pieces featuring The Mandalorian. These four pieces are called, “The Mandalorian- Child’s Play”, “The Mandalorian- The Escort”, “The Mandalorian-The Mudhorn” and “The Mandalorian-Turning Point”. Each of the four pieces represents a unique moment from the Disney+ series.

A sure-to-be fan favorite is “The Mandalorian- Child’s Play”. It is described at “After helping save the Sorgan™ village from raiders with an AT-ST Raider™, the Mandalorian™ takes a moment to consider the possibility of a peaceful life with them as the Child plays by a pond. Whereas the appeal of this sanctuary is tempting, deep inside Mando knows that if he and his charge are ever to be safe, they must find a way to outrun, or outsmart, the pursuers who are tracking them.”

“The Book of Boba Fett” Announced for Disney+ on Season Finale of The Mandalorian

via wdwnt.com

If you haven’t watched the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian on Disney+ yet, you’ll probably want to close your browser now. If you’re still reading with that being said, let the countdown begin to the next Disney+ Star Wars offering featuring Beskar-clad stars…

Announced in a post-credits scene as viewers were still recovering from the incredible closing moments of the episode, Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will apparently return in “The Book of Boba Fett” in December 2021.

The shocking announcement comes across in text after a post-credits scene where Fett and Fennec dispatch of Bib Fortuna and his entourage in the former palace of Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine. Fortuna seemed as surprised to see Boba Fett as we were just a few weeks ago.

Further clarification from Disney and LucasFilm is still being awaited, but until then, we can speculate as to if “The Book of Boba Fett” will be an entirely new reoccurring series, a limited run series, a streaming-exclusive movie, or even the basis for the 3rd season of The Mandalorian. Either way, it’s nice that the surprise was kept, even after a laundry list of Star Wars series and such were announced for Disney+ just last week.

Release Date Revealed for “The Mandalorian” Season 3!

Alright Mandalorian fans! Good news coming out of the Star Wars universe as the release date for The Mandalorian Season 3 has been revealed. Of course, we’ll be sure to mark our calendars as we suspect Season 3 will be just as epic as Seasons 1 and 2.

As shared by ComicBook.com: “The Mandalorian will be back for season 3 on Disney+ in 2021. While much of today’s Investor Day from The Walt Disney Company saw the announcements of all-new titles for the galaxy far, far away, the event also saw the confirmation that Season Three of The Mandalorian is slated to hit Disney+ in time for Christmas next year. It’s unclear if this means we can expect the third season to premiere on December 25, 2021, or if it merely means the third season will be debuting in the time around that holiday.”

“The Mandalorian” Is First Disney+ Show to Rank on Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming List

The Mandalorian is now the first show from Disney+ to rank on Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming list. It made the list for the week of October 26, 2020, through November 1, 2020.

The Mandalorian is ranked at number three, behind The Queen’s Gambit and The Office on Netflix. In fact, the other nine shows on the list are from Netflix. The list is below.

Nielsen ranks streaming shows based on the number of minutes viewers are streaming each week. When it comes to platforms like Netflix that do not release streaming numbers, Neislen estimates. Nielsen includes Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney+ in its streaming measurements.

The nine episodes of The Mandalorian available during that week (season 1 and the first episode of season 2) were streamed for 1,032 million minutes by viewers. It will likely remain in the top 10, and maybe even rank higher as Nielsen continues to rank the weeks during which a new episode aired. The final episode of this season will debut on December 18, 2020.

This exciting season of The Mandalorian has been chock full of both character and performer cameos. Most recently, Disney Legend Wing T. Chao appeared as Governor Wing.
