New Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Takes a Look At The Making of The Series, Debuts May 4th

This May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day, a brand-new series debuting on Disney+ will take us behind-the-scenes of the first Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian. What started as a fan-generated grassroots holiday, Star WarsDay has become a full-fledged celebration of the Star Wars saga embraced by the entire galaxy. This year, fans can look forward to the highly-anticipated conclusion of Star Wars: The Clone Wars alongside the global premiere of the new eight-episode documentary series, Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian.

In Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, executive producer Jon Favreau invites the cast and crew to share an unprecedented look at the making of the series that quickly became a pop culture phenomenon after premiering last November. Each chapter explores a different facet of the first live-action Star Wars television show through interviews, never-before-seen footage, and roundtable conversations hosted by Favreau himself.

Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season One,” said Favreau. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.”

Topics this season include the filmmaking process, the legacy of George Lucas’s Star Wars, how the cast brought the characters to life, the series’ groundbreaking technology, the artistry behind the show’s practical models, effects, and creatures, plus the creative influences, the iconic score, and connections to Star Wars characters and props from across the galaxy.

Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian will premiere on Monday, May 4, with new episodes every Friday on Disney+.

And, after seven seasons, one of the most critically acclaimed chapters in the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will come to a close the same day, giving fans around the world the chance to watch the finale together for Star Wars Day.

The Emmy award-winning continuation of the greatest space fantasy of all time, Star Wars: The Clone Wars was created by George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation with Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian) serving as executive producer/supervising director. With ambitious, ground-breaking computer animation, classic characters, astounding action, and the timeless battle between good and evil, Star Wars: The Clone Wars expands the Star Wars story with all-new adventures set in a galaxy far, far away. The series finale explores the events leading up to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and will premiere on Monday, May 4, on Disney+.

Star Wars Rival Run Weekend Canceled

runDisney has released an Advisory via their website that states in abundance of caution, the 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend is cancelled. Please see the details below as shared by runDisney.com:

With circumstances continuing to change rapidly around the globe, we are making critical and timely decisions based on guidance from local, national and international health agencies. Cast Members Now Being Hired For Resort Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

The opening of Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is drawing near, and a recent job posting by Disney shows they are now hiring for the immersive hotel experience. Galactic Starcruiser – General Manager is the name of the job listing, and if the job listing is any indication, Disney is taking the immersive theme of the hotel very seriously.

From the job listing:

Are you ready to command a Galactic Starcruiser, the Halcyon, where you will take passengers on an adventure to a galaxy far, far, away? Be the first Admiral (GM) to manage this fully immersive, luxury resort, where guests and crew are part of a Star Wars story, including encounters between Resistance forces and the First Order.

We are seeking a seasoned hotelier with extensive senior leadership hospitality experience on land or at sea to serve as Resort Manager / Hotel Director. He/she will drive and execute a unique immersive “cruise-like experience” aligned with our Star Wars franchise. This experience will operate as a two-night journey and be the world’s first multi-day immersive adventure. The ideal candidate will have a passion for bringing ideas to life, creativity, value a non-traditional work environment, and balance a traditional hotel experience with immersive entertainment.

According to the job listing, the General Manager will be called “Admiral” and the Star Wars story in the hotel will include “encounters between Resistance forces and the First Order”. Galactic Starcruiser will be a two-night adventure, think Disney Cruise Line as stated in the job description, and will be a non-traditional hotel experience.

If you think you are qualified to “pilot” the Galactic Starcruiser, you can find the job posting here. Reservations will open later this year for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, which is set to debut in 2021 at Walt Disney World.

With so many guests rope dropping Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there’s a dire need for more breakfast options in the park, and starting March 1st, the trusty old Milk Stand is stepping up its game to offer even more items for hungry travelers to Batuu.

Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away Ends Its Run @ Hollywood Studios

As part of the entertainment cutbacks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” ended its run last week.

The stage show was a mix of live action performances and extended video montages from “Star Wars” films. Characters including Chewbacca, Darth Vader, BB-8, C-3PO and R2-D2 performed in between video montages.

Star Wars galaxy far far away

Along with the already existing Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, the stage show filled a big Star Wars void in the park between the time when Disney purchased Lucasfilm and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened. With the land now open, Star Wars now must make way for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway to be the star of the show at the Chinese Theatre.

Watch the final “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the video below:
