Via Disneylists.com

Disney has announced that Typhoon Lagoon will be reopening soon! It has been closed for refurbishment this winter, and we’re excited to be able to visit the park again.

From a Disney Cast Member;

Hang loose! As the weather gets warmer and Spring Break approaches, I can’t think of a better place to spend my day than at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. We are excited to share that the tropical-themed park will reopen to guests on March 19, 2023.

Adding to this oasis of fun, the popular specially-ticketed event, H2O Glow After Hours, will also return this May and will be the high-”light” of your summer! Don’t miss out: Tickets for the event go on sale starting tomorrow, so you’ll want to be sure to “glow” and purchase your ticket!

Here are five can’t-miss ways to enjoy Typhoon Lagoon when it reopens later this month:

1 – Light up the Night at H2O Glow After Hours

Glow the night away during H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon starting May 20, complete with an electric DJ dance party, complimentary ice cream treats, popcorn and select beverages, a ‘glow’-rious atmosphere and beyond.

H2O Glow After Hours allows families to spend time at Typhoon Lagoon for several hours after it closes, giving quick access to favorite attractions throughout the illuminated park. Be sure to get your tickets tomorrow for a night to remember at the water park!

2 – Can’t-Miss Thrilling Attractions Await

For a thrill-filled day at Typhoon Lagoon, check out guest-favorite attractions like the action-packed 400-foot-long “water coaster” Crush ‘n’ Gusher or Humunga Kowabunga, which offers three high-energy body slides to plunge guests down the steep incline of Mount Mayday.

Families can join the fun, too, with the fast-paced, adrenaline-filled family raft attraction, Miss Adventure Falls. Little ones can adventure down mini waterslides in the kid-friendly Ketchakiddee Creek.

3 – The Perfect Place to Chill

This tropical paradise is the ideal spot to kick back on your trip to Walt Disney World Resort, with plenty of spaces to unwind. Sunbathe with ease as you float down the scenic lazy river, Castaway Creek, for a peaceful tour of the entire park.

Beachcomber Shacks offer a private, outdoor oasis away from the buzz of the rest of the park for guests to relax. These spaces are available for guests to rent during their visit to Typhoon Lagoon and offer perks like cushioned seating, towels, a locker and souvenir reusable mugs to make you feel like you’re in paradise.

4 – Devour Delicious New Food & Beverage Offerings

Cool off with new sweets and treats that are perfect for a day at the water park, including the Pineapple Upside Down Cone available at Happy Landings and a Barbeque Chicken and Grilled Pineapple Flatbread available at Leaning Palms.

Also, the exclusive Typhoon Tilly Sipper will be available for a limited time as an all-day, refillable fountain beverage offering. Adults can indulge in the Kungaloosh Kooler, a Strawberry DOLE Whip swirled with a mixture of rum, orange juice and blackberry brandy floated with Strawberry Fanta.

Remember that delicious Moana Cone from World Princess Week? The dessert featuring DOLE Whip Strawberry swirled with vanilla is back for guests to enjoy, as well as the popular Hei Hei Cone made of DOLE Whip Pineapple and Raspberry available at Snack Shack.

5 – Surf’s Up at the Surf Pool

Did you know that the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool is the largest wave pool in North America? With a picturesque view of the iconic Mount Mayday, guests of all ages can catch gnarly waves while body surfing in the water.

For those who want to test their skills even further, hang 10 with a private surf session in the Surf Pool. Open Surf will also be available this year for surfers or small groups that want to surf, but do not need the entire pool to themselves. No matter what your experience level is, spend time riding waves before or after the park closes to polish your skills.

This Walt Disney World Park Is Reopening Soon

For months, fans of this Walt Disney World Park have been in the dark about its reopening. However, Disney recently made an announcement that has fans waiting on the edge of their seats: Typhoon Lagoon is finally returning to Walt Disney World!

The Walt Disney World water park originally closed for refurbishments in November 2022, which in turn resulted in Blizzard Beach reopening after a lengthy closure for Guests to enjoy.

At this time, we don’t know when exactly Typhoon Lagoon is reopening. The official Disney Parks Blog announced that Typhoon Lagoon “will reopen this spring” with no further details.

Typhoon Lagoon attractions include tons of water rides, slides, and pools for Guests of all ages.

Lazy River

Younger Guests will love Ketchakiddie Creek, full of shallow pools, whimsical animals, a water cannon, and more.

For Guests of all ages, Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool is the largest wave pool in North America, where huge waves roll until they roll onto the shores of the sandy white beach.

One Typhoon Lagoon ride that will thrill the whole family is Miss Adventure Falls: a water slide with a four-person raft and lots of splashing. Want a similar rafting experience without an entire party? Check out Keelhaul Falls, a one-person white-rafting water slide!

Other Typhoon Lagoon attractions include the Storm Slides: a series of three different water slides that send Guests careening down twists and turns.

Although we don’t know when Typhoon Lagoon will reopen, we have reason to believe that Blizzard Beach will close for refurbishment once the water park reopens. Historically, one Walt Disney World water park remains open while the other is closed for a lengthy refurbishment.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is Reopening

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is finally returning after two very long years! This royal character buffet is one of the last restaurants to return from the Covid closures!

Beginning on November 4, 2022 you can join your favorite Disney Princesses in EPCOT’s World Showcase for an unforgettable meal. Located in the Norway pavilion you’ll find traditional Norwegian dishes like Tradisjonell Kjøttkake (Norwegian Meatballs served with Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, and Lingonberry Sauce) and grilled salmon. Kids will feast on familiar favorites like Mac and cheese and pizza.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

Pricing for this location is on par with increased pricing for other character meals at Walt Disney World. Breakfast will be $53.00 for adults and $34.00 for kids. Lunch and dinner will be $63.00 for adults and $41.00 for kids. Just as it was before the closure, all three meals will remain all-you-can-eat.

This incredible meal offers a chance to dine with princesses like Ariel, Snow White, Cinderella, and Belle “inside a medieval castle with soaring archways and cathedral ceilings.” This classic location is a hit with young and old alike due to its interesting food, fun characters and beautiful surroundings. In fact, we recommend it over Cinderella’s Royal Table. The food is better, the restaurant is more beautiful, and as a bonus reservations here are typically easier to get! Currently Cinderella’s Royal Table isn’t offering their full character experience either. That gives Akershus Royal Banquet Hall a definite edge over its more popular dining cousin.

Disney says Advanced Dining Reservations are recommended for this location but we would take that a step further and say they are essentially required. We have never once gotten or even heard of anyone who has gotten a walk up table here. Reservations will open for Akershus on October 24, 2022. They will likely go fast at first due to pent up demand so you’ll want to make sure you are ready at 6:00 am when reservations open up!

We are keeping a close eye on the few restaurants that remain shuttered after the closure. Stay tuned and we will update you as soon as more announcements are made!

Magic Kingdom attraction has finally reopened after being closed to Guests for more than 28 months

A Magic Kingdom attraction that closed to Guests almost 2 1/2 years ago has finally reopened, but Guests who want to experience it are encouraged to make a reservation in advance.

In March 2020, in response to the growing global coronavirus pandemic, The Walt Disney Company made the painful but necessary decision to close its domestic theme parks and its theme parks abroad. For the first time in history, fans were living in a world devoid of a single operational Disney Park. It was a strange time for Disney and for the world as a whole.

The four theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort remained closed for almost four months, and when they reopened, it was with a very limited capacity and a brand-new tool for crowd control called the Park Pass Reservation System. (Many of us thought it would be a temporary tool, but alas, it has endured for more than 2 years now, and according to Disney, it’s here to stay–at least for now.)

When the parks at Disney World finally reopened, many Guest experiences, rides, entertainment and other attractions were not available, and since that time, thanks to a planned phased reopening of the parks, the majority of those experiences has reopened. But one experience at Magic Kingdom remained unavailable until Sunday.

Magic Kingdom’s Harmony Barber Shop, located at Town Square, hadn’t welcomed a Guest through its doors in more than two years. But on Sunday, the shop finally reopened to Guests.

For some Disney World fans, the experience is a rite of passage. Harmony Barber Shop offers haircuts to men, women, and children–but with a bit of pixie dust and Disney Magic. At this time, adult Guests can get a haircut for $21, and children can get a haircut for $20. The Harmony Barber Shop also offers the My First Haircut experience for little ones. For $28, a child can get a haircut, a Mickey ears hat, a keepsake lock of hair, and a certificate commemorating the experience.

Male Guests who are feeling a bit “scruffy” can enjoy a beard trim at Harmony Barber Shop for $8.

But if you’re hoping to experience a haircut at Magic Kingdom’s barber shop, Disney recommends making a reservation in advance. Harmony Barber Shop does have a limited number of walk-in appointments available each day, but they are only available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Finally Reopening

Soon guests will once again be able to receive magical makeovers at the very popular Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique  at both Magic Kingdom Park and at Disneyland.

Magic makeovers are back!

I’m pleased to share that earlier today, a magical proclamation was found in Fantasyland announcing a very special return. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will soon welcome young guests once again for royal head-to-toe transformations at both Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland park at Disneyland Resort on August 25.

Our cast members – Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices – will transform guests ages 3 to 12 into some of their favorite Disney characters with hairstyling, makeup, costumes and accessories. In addition, the reopening ushers in even more options to choose from, including a new hair accessory especially designed for textured hair and new costumes featuring some of Disney’s newest heroes and heroines coming later this year.

Located in the heart of Magic Kingdom and Disneyland park, the reopening of these two iconic locations will join the slate of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques aboard Disney Cruise Line, including the newest addition at sea on the Disney Wish. And stay tuned for more details about Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique locations at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Disney Springs, which will reopen at a later date.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has a long legacy of making dreams come true for children around the world. My mom and I frequently reminisce about the day my kid sister had her royal makeover. It was truly a magical moment for my whole family, and I just can’t wait to share that experience with other families when Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique returns to Disney World and Disneyland.

Guests may begin making reservations for these magical transformations in early August only in the My Disney Experience app and Disneyland App, or at DisneyWorld.com and Disneyland.com. Valid admission and park reservations are required for entry into Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland park.
