Opening Date Announced for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

The wait is almost over! Disney has announced the opening date of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure the new family-friendly attraction coming to the newly expanded France pavilion. Originally scheduled to open in summer 2020, the opening was delayed due to the global pandemic that closed Walt Disney World for over four months in 2020.

Everyone’s favorite “Little Chef” is cooking up something really big for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary, because the grand opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT is set for October 1 of this year!

That date may sound familiar, as it will also mark exactly 50 years since Walt Disney World officially opened for the first time. So Chef Remy will help us kick off “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” in Parisian style.

In this delicious new attraction, you’ll feel like you’ve shrunk to the size of Chef Remy as you scurry through Gusteau’s famous restaurant on a wild adventure for the whole family (no height requirement!). Based on Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award-winning “Ratatouille,” the experience will be part of a newly expanded France pavilion inside EPCOT that will also open October 1.

When you round the corner into this new portion of the pavilion, you’ll be transported into a fanciful version of Paris that feels straight out of the animated film. As you can see in this beautiful nighttime photo we’re sharing today, it’s easy to understand why little Remy fell so head-over-heels in love with the “city of lights.”

And oh wait … there’s more! Also opening October 1 will be La Crêperie de Paris, a new restaurant offering both table- and quick-service options. The menu will feature sweet crepes, savory buckwheat galettes (naturally gluten friendly) and authentic French hard cider. The attraction, restaurant and pavilion expansion are all part of the historic transformation of EPCOT currently underway, celebrating how the impossible becomes possible through the power of imagination … and a little Disney magic. This amazing time in the park’s history has already brought us a reimagined main entrance with new entrance fountain, “The Soul of Jazz” exhibit and new films in three different pavilions, with much more on the way.

We’re looking forward to Remy joining us for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” an 18-month event that will feature new experiences at the four Walt Disney World theme parks and beyond, where shimmering EARidescent décor will appear as if by magic.

EPCOT’s France Pavilion Expansion Is Open

Walt Disney World Imagineers have been hard at work in EPCOT’s France Pavilion preparing for the grand opening of the highly anticipated Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction. While the attraction is not yet open, the France Pavilion expansion has officially opened for guests to explore! Disney Imagineer and WDW Site Portfolio Executive, Zach Riddley, took to Instagram to share some insight and photos about the new expansion.

As shared via Zach Riddley’s Instagram: I’ve loved seeing your reactions and fan photos from our recently opened portion of the France pavilion expansion at EPCOT! There’s still more to come when Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opens this year, but I wanted to share some of the fun design details our Imagineering team has created to bring this little piece of Paris directly to EPCOT.

The first thing you’ll notice as you approach this new area is the ornate, Art Nouveau-style archway which is reminiscent of the iconic entrances to some of Paris’ Metro stations. Made of cast-iron and displaying a “Ratatouille” sign inspired by font used throughout the Paris Metro, the entrance to our new neighborhood instantly establishes both our setting and the exciting attraction that will await Guests around the corner. Just beyond the marquee, Imagineers designed a beautiful allée along the waterway. For those of you that have visited the city of Paris, this extension will take you right back to those wonderful strolls along the river Seine.

Textures and materials play an important role here in creating a sense of place that feels authentically Parisian with its own stories to tell. Historically accurate lampposts line a hardscape designed to look like decomposed granite, with cast-iron benches sitting adjacent to ornate wrought iron railings- each revealing subtle hints of Chef Remy in their design. We have paid attention to all the details – down to the exact species of trees, the materials, colors and signage. This is a small section in the grand design of EPCOT and even the forthcoming France pavilion expansion, but the details we are revealing are important when building upon stories of the real world and those inspired by it! C’est magnifique!”

“Ratatouille” Background Music Being Tested in France Pavilion Expansion at EPCOT

With the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure imminent, it seems Disney has prepared a new background music loop for the France Pavilion in EPCOT. We heard new background music coming from the pavilion’s expansion when we visited recently.

The music was not discernible from inside the France Pavilion, where the regular France music loop continued to play. We could hear this new loop from across the river and were able to identify some music from the Ratatouille soundtrack, including “Le Festin”, “A Real Gourmet Kitchen”, and the medley from the end credits.

Listen to the new background music loop below.

Disney and “Ratatouille” fan, Emily Jacobsen is so excited for the debut of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT that she wrote a song about Remy and posted a video online of herself singing it. The clip quickly became a worldwide social media phenomenon, inspiring others to share their love for the “Little Chef” through music. To celebrate, Disney offered her a sneak peek of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Check out the details and video as shared below by DisneyParksBlog.

To celebrate Emily’s joy and creativity, we decided to add a little extra magic to Emily’s recent Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Yesterday, she was whisked backstage at EPCOT for a surprise sneak peek of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which will debut in 2021 in the newly reimagined France pavilion. Based on Disney and Pixar’s hit film “Ratatouille,” the family-friendly attraction will invite guests to shrink down to the size of a rat for a culinary adventure with Remy, racing across Gusteau’s kitchen floor. In addition to her “first look” at the new attraction, Emily got a “first wear” of the special ear headband inspired by Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. The headband will be available for purchase in 2021.
