Walt Disney Imagineering Files Theatrical Lighting Permit for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the upcoming interactive hotel near Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The permit is for “theatrical lighting and controls” and the contractor is Candela Controls, Inc. Candela Controls, Inc. specializes in lighting and worked on both the Coca-Cola store and Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs.

Of course, the Starcruiser will include plenty of entertainment from characters who will interact with guests, including an encounter with Kylo Ren and the First Order when they invade the vessel.

The concept art and storyline for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser definitely promise beautiful theatrical lighting and we can’t wait to see what Candela Controls does.

Permit Filed for Construction in Innoventions East

A permit filed with Orange County this week has the address for Innoventions East in Epcot’s Future World with the description “Project G: 202-1”.

Project Gamma is the name Imagineering uses when they refer to the project involving the complete reimagining of the entrance of Epcot, as well as the center of Future World.

While the patent doesn’t get into the details of the work, it was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, which indicates the work is meaningful and not just “general conditions” work. Electric Umbrella and MouseGear, both located in Innoventions East, are closing this winter as part of the reimagining of Future World into World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature.

Electric Umbrella is slated to close November 24, 2019, per last available operating hours.
