Ferry Boat Incident At WDW Deemed a Suicide Attempt By Authorities

According to reports by the Orlando Sentinel, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has deemed the ferry boat incident that took place around 7:00 PM on Seven Seas Lagoon an apparent suicide attempt.

The 56-year-old woman, whose name has not been disclosed by officials, boarded the ferry boat alongside people she knew. She then intentionally jumped into the lagoon before being rescued and transported to a hospital for treatment and further evaluation.

Guests aboard the ferry boat described the scene as “chaotic and traumatic” for all of those involved.

Magic Kingdom Experiencing Capacity CLosure To Ring In The New Year

With crowds descending on Walt Disney World to ring in the new year, the Magic Kingdom has begun to turn guests away.

As of about 1:00 PM, Magic Kingdom is now experiencing a Phase B closure, meaning access to the park is now closed to some guests. Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are still welcoming guests.

This first phase of capacity closure only affects those people with 1-day, 1-park tickets who are not staying on Disney property. Anyone with a multi-day ticket, Annual Pass, or those staying at any Disney hotels and most Disney Springs hotels, as well as those with dining reservations, are still permitted to enter.

Those who made it into Magic Kingdom before the closure are enduring long waits for rides, with wait times of more at or near three hours for Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Villains After Hours Returning In February 2020 With New Villain’s Cursed Caravan

Based on the popularity of Maleficent dragon’s journey through the park, the experience is being enhanced to include even more villainous fun. New this year, the Villains’ Cursed Caravan will join Maleficent the dragon as she creeps through the park twice nightly. The wicked procession will feature Gaston, Oogie Boogie, Cruella DeVil, Captain Hook and more! As a reminder, this event does not include character greetings.

There is more villainous action at the event of course!

  • Hades and Meg from “Hercules” will set the castle stage ablaze in “Villains Unite the Night,” featuring appearances by Jafar, The Queen, Dr. Facilier and Maleficent.
  • During this sinister soiree, guests can dance the night away as a party DJ spins monstrous music on the Cinderella Castle Forecourt stage.
  • Guests can also experience the surprising, villain-inspired enhancements at Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain.
  • As they make their way through each land, guests can strike a pose as they come across sharable photo opportunities scattered throughout the park.
  • Disney Villains After Hours also includes wickedly good food and beverage selections. A few of the new treats this year are Painting the Roses Red (Available at Cheshire Café), a cheesecake mousse with raspberry gelée, red cocoa butter, and buttercream leaves; Body Language (Available at Storybook Treats), a cookies and cream mousse with chocolate cake, glaçage, and meringue tentacles garnished with a chocolate shell; and Five Dozen Eggs Slush (Available at Gaston’s Tavern). A frozen custard with brown sugar topped with whipped cream and garnished with a cinnamon stick. Be sure to check back on Disney Parks Blog for the Foodie Guide to Disney Villain After Hours – a complete listing of all the delicious food and beverage offerings!
  • Across the park guests can enjoy access to more than 25 attractions and experiences.
  • Guests can also purchase new event merchandise, as well as items from a curated collection of the best Disney villain merchandise available.

TRON Lightcycle Ride Vehicles Photo Op Installed at Magic Kingdom

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom today were surprised by two ride vehicles and a photo op for the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster, opening at the park in 2021. Located outside of Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. in Tomorrowland, this advertisement for the upcoming attraction is sure to intrigue many a guest.

What was most surprising about the ride showcase was that the ride seems to be sponsored by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. While the version at Shanghai Disneyland is sponsored by Chevrolet, many attractions recently built Walt Disney World attractions have not had sponsors.

There is also a diagram next to the ride vehicles that depicts how guests will board the vehicles at the station when the ride opens. While there are ropes around the ride vehicles right now, the “Loading Procedure” sign makes it seem that guests may be allowed to try out the ride vehicles in the near future.
