New Space Mountain Wishables

This month brought us the new Park Life Wishables collection featuring park icons from Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort, but coming soon is the adorable Space Mountain Wishables collection, which is now available at Hong Kong Disneyland.

The full collection features an astronaut Mickey and Minnie, a Space Mountain Ride Vehicle, and Robo-Dog! For those who remember the Robo-Dog, he first debuted as “Nipper the RCA dog” back when Space Mountain opened in 1975 (and was sponsored by RCA.) Guests would see him sitting inside a spaceship as they entered the attraction. The pup was later stripped and reused during the 1994 Tomorrowland revamp, where he was placed along one of the attraction’s many exit ramp scenes… which thankfully survived the latest revamp that took place last November.

The unbagged Wishables plush is no less than the attraction’s iconic ride building itself.

Gun Confiscated at Magic Kingdom Checkpoint

A 35-year-old Missouri man was stopped at Magic Kingdom bag check after it was discovered there was a weapon in his bag. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the man and his wife told security at bag check that they had an unloaded pistol in their bag.

This incident occurred on December 28, 2019, when the couple tried to enter the Magic Kingdom with their 4-year-old daughter. The gun, a black Ruger LCP .380, was in a carrying bag, inside a purse, and secured in a backpack.

The man stated that they forgot that the gun, which the man bought for his wife for protection, was inside the purse, as they had numerous bags with their 18-person party visiting Walt Disney World. According to the couple, they both have concealed weapon permits in Missouri, though this was not verified by the Orange County Sheriff.

Progress Update On Walkway From Grand Floridian To Magic Kingdom

It’s probably going to be some time before we’ll be able to walk all the way from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom. Guests traveling from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom have only been able to the get to the park via monorail or boat transportation, but soon that will change. At this point in time, walking is not an option, unless you want to swim across the canal.

Thanks to the addition of a new swing-arm bridge, guests will soon be able to travel on foot to the park. This will be a great alternative when the monorails are down or the lines are long to leave the park. Let’s take a look at how the progress is coming along.

The bridge is already installed, but is still in the “open” position that allows the boats and barges, like the Electrical Water Pageant, to pass through.

Wooden framework is also being put together on the Grand Floridian side, too, as guests will need a boarding ramp for the bridge.

This pathway and bridge will be a nice addition to the area, and one that’s been needed for a while. There will most likely be a security booth set up somewhere along the way for guests that are walking from the resort, similar to the booth near the Contemporary Resort walkway.
