Cinderella’s Castle @ Magic Kingdom To Get A Makeover

When you think of Walt Disney World, chances are the most iconic image – Cinderella Castle – appears in your mind. Disney just announced this beautiful icon is getting a makeover! Check out the details below from DisneyParksBlog:

Cinderella first transformed into a princess 70 years ago this week when the animated classic was released—and ever since, her courage and kindness have been inspiring guests and cast members alike. We are excited to share that her story has inspired a bold, shimmering and royal makeover of her namesake castle at the heart of Walt Disney World Resort.

Take a look at this concept image of what the newly-enhanced Cinderella Castle will look like when work is completed:

You may notice this exciting work taking place as these stunning enhancements begin in the coming weeks, continuing through summer. But don’t worry! We’ll still get to catch all of our castle favorites like “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” and “Happily Ever After.”

Disney can’t wait to bring you along on the journey for this royal makeover of our park’s iconic centerpiece. When you visit, be sure to share your excitement with our cast members—they can’t wait to see the shimmering towers shining down on the kingdom each and every morning!

Grand Floridian Walkway To Magic Kingdom Construction Update

Work is coming along on the pathway that will allow guests to walk from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and the Magic Kingdom. Let’s take a look and see what’s been happening!

Now that one of the drawbridges between the resort and the park has been tested in the “closed” position, work on connecting the bridge to the path has begun in earnest, as they begin to build what looks like a kind of ramp that will lead guests onto the bridge.

The bridges will open and close in the evenings to allow the floats of the Electrical Water Pageant to enter and exit the Seven Seas Lagoon.

In time, all this work will be done, and getting between Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and the Magic Kingdom will be easier than ever.

John From Carousal of Progress Loses Hand

It’s all fun and games until someone loses a hand! And sadly that’s what happened to Magic Kingdom’s beloved John audio-animatronic during a run-through of Carousel of Progress at Tomorrowland in Walt Disney World.

Here’s a closer look at the full image:

After the incident, guests were reporting that the Carousel of Progress was shut down for at least 35 minutes that afternoon.

Its been a hairy couple of months for the Carousel of Progress. Back in December, the attraction was at the center of an incident involving rather intoxicated guests. Two audience members jumped on stage during Act 1.  Stunned guests looked on as one guest was tackled by another guest on the attraction.

It’s sad to see such an iconic Walt Disney World attraction take a beating.  A staple in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress takes you on a journey from the turn of the century to current-day technologies. The original version of Carousel of Progress was introduced by Walt Disney himself at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.

To view the 3D models, drag two fingers up while looking at a location. It’s not a very useful feature, but it’s kind of cool to look at. When you’re away from the parks, try scrolling through the 3D models. Maybe you’ll catch a whiff of a turkey leg!

If Google Maps is more your thing, you can take a walk right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. right on your phone.
