‘Avengers’ Actor Tried To Kill His Character With Multiple Heart Attacks

It’s been over a decade since Marvel Studios released the very first Avengers movie in 2012, but recent happenings shed a morbid light on events from one of the earliest MCU superhero sets. While Disney and Marvel certainly hoped for the success of the comic book turned-film saga, they had no idea the massive popularity it would sustain for years. Being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe means a big payday for its lead actors, but before the super team hit the big screen for the first time, one of its main members, Jeremy Renner, consistently tried to kill himself off.

Actor Jeremy Renner, known better to Marvel fans as the Avenger Hawkeye, dominated the first news cycles of 2023 after a horrifically traumatic snow plow accident that left him literally shattered. The world was stunned and inspired by his seemingly superhuman ability to stay positive, work hard, and miraculously heal from something that should’ve easily killed him. This tragic incident and his brush with death gave new context to his actions on the Avengers set.

According to FandomWire, Jeremy Renner was actively rooting for his onscreen death as Hawkeye to the point where he would pretend to die while filming…multiple times.

Renner is quoted saying,

I just had a heart attack in every scene – I’d just be walking with… Scarlett Johansson, and just like be ugh. And they said, ‘what are you doing man?’ I’m giving you an option if you just want to kick me out of this movie. Just you know, at any given moment, if you wanna kill me off, daddy’s gonna be having a heart attack.

FandomWire suggests that his constant heart attack pranks were meant to comment on Hawkeye’s lack of character development in the script. While Renner was right about Clint Barton not receiving a ton of character depth in comparison to other Avengers, heart attacks on set may not have been the way to go about it. I mean…poor Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow).

Jeremy Renner’s humor has apparently always been a bit on the darker side, but things may have changed over the past eleven years. Not only did he survive a life-altering accident, but he has gone on to star in a handful of other Marvel Studios features as well as his own Disney+ series, which certainly gave Clint Barton/ Hawkeye the spotlight Renner was looking for.

Jeremy Renner Home After Horrific Accident That Crushed His Leg

More than two weeks ago, Marvel star Jeremy Renner was airlifted to a hospital near Reno, Nevada, after being injured in a snow plow accident near his home. He was admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit and listed in “critical but stable” condition. We soon learned that Renner had been run over by a large snow plow he owned while trying to help a neighbor. Thankfully, another neighbor of Renner’s was a doctor and was able to help treat Renner’s wound while they waited for medical help to arrive.

Thankfully, Renner is on the mend and has made his way back to the home he loves so much. Renner was speaking about his hit show, Mayor of Kingstown, when he revealed that he was finally home.

Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home 🙏❤️🙏

The Hawkeye and Avengers star kept Guests updated as he spent a lot of time in the hospital getting better. According to reports, it wasn’t just Renner’s leg that was injured in the accident. He was also treated for blunt chest trauma. The machine that he was run over weighs more than 14,000 pounds, so his leg suffered extensive damage. Renner’s family was by his side the entire time, and he even shared videos of them on social media helping take care of him in the ICU.

At this time, we don’t know just how bad Renner’s injuries are. Reports had indicated that they were so bad he may never be back to 100%, but Renner has not said anything in regard to that. We do know that the doctors were able to save his leg, and he will most likely start intensive physical therapy once he is deemed healed enough to do so.

Renner and his medical team have also not said if any further surgeries will be needed to help fix his severely injured leg. Renner’s Marvel Cinematic Universe family has constantly been sending their support to the Hawkeye star since his first day in the hospital.

Jeremy Renner Shares First Video For Fans After Horrific Accident

Last week, Marvel star Jeremy Renner — who plays Hawkeye in a number of films and shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — was involved in a horrible accident while snowplowing at his home near Reno, Nevada. According to reports, Mr. Renner was using a large, professional snowplow and something happened, and the snowplow — which weighs more than 14,000 pounds — ran over his leg. Renner lost a massive amount of blood and was airlifted to a hospital, where he was listed in “critical but stable” condition.

Just days after Renner was admitted to the hospital, it was also reported that, in addition to the extensive damage to his leg, Mr. Renner had also suffered “blunt chest trauma.” Thankfully, it appears that the actor is doing well and on the mend. On January 3, Renner gave fans a look at some of his injuries and thanked them for their support, but admitted that he was “messed up” in an Instagram post.

Thank you all for your kind words. 🙏. Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.

From the time Renner was admitted to the hospital, his family has been by his side. And now, Renner appears to be getting better every day, and he has shared a fun video of his sister and mother pretending to pamper him in while he lays in his hospital bed.

A “not no great” ICU DAY, turned to amazing spa day with my sis and mama❤️. Thank you sooooo much

So far, Renner has had two surgeries to repair some of the extensive damage he suffered from the snowplow accident. While Renner remains in the ICU — Intensive Care Unit — a neighbor of his, who is a doctor, was able to save him from potentially more damage when he applied a tourniquet to Renner’s leg to stop the bleeding.

We do not know how many more surgeries Renner will need to repair his leg or how long he will be in the hospital.
