Harrison Ford Gets Injured During Indiana Jones 5 Filming

Filming for Indiana Jones 5 is underway! Harrison Ford fans are thrilled that even at the age of 78, Ford is back for round 5 of Indiana Jones filming. Unfortunately, it is being reported that Ford got hurt while filming. It wasn’t a rolling boulder, snakes, poison, or fire… but rather a fight scene that caused Ford’s injury.

Deadline exclusively reported, “Harrison Ford hurt himself rehearsing a fight scene in Indiana Jones 5, sources tell Deadline. The extent of his injury wasn’t immediately known, but it involves his shoulder. Director James Mangold will continue to shoot around him while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated. The filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks. Disney has set the Lucasfilm action thriller for a July 29, 2022 release date.”

Disney follows with the statement: “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder. Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”

Steven Spielberg Will Not Return To Indiana Jones 5

Steven Spielberg will not be returning to direct the newest film in the Indiana Jones franchise.

After directing all of the previous Indiana Jones movies, Spielberg decided that he was no longer interested in directing a fifth Indiana Jones film. Spielberg will still remain on as a producer for “Indiana Jones 5”.

The lead candidate to fill Spielberg’s shoes is James Mangold. Mangold recently received high praise for his direction on “Ford V Ferrari”. Mangold is also known for directing the last two films in the Wolverine franchise, “The Wolverine” and “Logan”.

Recently, while promoting “The Call Of The Wild”, Harrison Ford revealed that he was going to begin filming “Indiana Jones 5” this April. Originally, “Indiana Jones 5” was scheduled to hit theaters on July 19, 2019. Since then, it has been delayed several times, and the most recently release date associated with the film was July 9, 2021. This definitely throws a wrench into the works, and with Spielberg’s departure, it should result in “Indy 5” being delayed yet again.

Indiana Jones 5 To Begin Filming in 2 Months

While promoting his upcoming film “The Call Of The Wild”, Harrison Ford confirmed that the next “Indiana Jones” will begin filming in two months. Ford sat down with a host from CBS Sunday Morning and was asked about the challenges of returning to the same roles years later.

You can read the transcript and watch the accompanying video below of Harrison Ford on CBS Sunday This Morning.

From CBS Sunday This Morning:

CBS: When you return to roles, whether it be Han Solo or Indiana Jones, what’s the challenge for you in coming back to the same role years later.
Harrison Ford: Trying not look silly riding around in tight pants and high boots. I will give you a more appropriate answer considering that I am about to start doing Indiana Jones in about two months. I’m always delighted to come back to these characters. (The reason why) we have the opportunity to make another is because people have enjoyed them. I feel obliged to make sure that our efforts are as ambitious as they were when we started. You have a sense of responsibilities to your customers. I think of the people that go to my movies more as customers than I do as fans. Fans always felt weird to me. The fact that these people support my business and I’m responsible to them for the quality of the service that that I offer. That feels better to me.
