Remember the story of the 6 year old who gave up his Disney money to help hurricane evacuees, if not check it out here:
On Sunday, Sept. 8, Jermaine celebrated his seventh birthday, when Mickey Mouse and a group of Walt Disney World cast members made a surprise visit to tell Jermaine that he and his family are going to Walt Disney World Resort after all. The family will enjoy a VIP getaway at the vacation kingdom later this month.
Check out the video below to watch the surprise visit:
Central Florida and Walt Disney World Resort might have been spared from Hurricane Dorian, but it appears Disney Vacation Club’s sleepy outpost in South Carolina is now hunkering down for the storm and closing ahead of any potential damage or further landfall.
Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is located on the picturesque coast of South Carolina, only 5 hours from Walt Disney World Resort. This elegant, relaxing home-away-from-home—fashioned after a 1940s hunting and fishing lodge—combines local charm and simple pleasures with outdoor fun for the entire family. The resort features multi-roomed villas and many recreational activities, including 12 miles of heavenly beaches.
The resort closed on Monday ahead of projected weather due to Hurricane Dorian, but with the storm currently affecting the area, it appears the resort remains closed for the time being.
Hurricane Dorian is currently skirting the South Carolina coast en route to North Carolina.
It’s ironic on terrible situation can often bring the humanity out in us. How times of great trouble for some, can lead others to do unbelievable acts of kindness.
Hurricane Dorian has devastated many and forced many into being uncomfortable or worse but it has also brought out heroes that we may had never met.
Here’s a great story of one such hero; (via Fox8)
“A South Carolina 6-year-old decided some things are more important than a trip to Disney World.
This Sunday, Jermaine Bell will turn 7, and after saving money for a birthday trip to Disney World, he decided his birthday cash was better spent helping those evacuated from the South Carolina coast ahead of Hurricane Dorian, WJBF reports.
“The people that are traveling to go to places, I wanted them to have some food to eat, so they can enjoy the ride to the place that they’re going to stay at,” Bell said.
The child used the money to buy hot dogs and chips and water, and he gave it all up for nothing in return.
“I wanted to be generous and live to give,” Bell said.
The 6-year-old, with the help of his grandmother, put together signs and stood on the side of Highway 125 in Allendale. He was able to help out close to 100 evacuees, according to WJBF.
Bell’s hopes for a big Disney trip however are far from gone, and he’s holding out hope that he can still make that dream come true.”
Today, park hours at Walt Disney World were shortened across the resort to accommodate for the incoming effects of Hurricane Dorian to the east coast of Florida, with bands of storm-like activity affecting the Orlando area.
It appears that tomorrow, parks will open and close as normal, with the exception of morning Extra Magic Hours, which have been canceled. The hours for tomorrow, September 4th are as follows:
As a reminder for today, Epcot’s hours have been extended until 7:00 p.m. tonight.Disney Springs will also be open today until 8:00 p.m., but many restaurants are closed.
Orlando International Airport has suspended all commercial flights for today and has not released an expected time of resumed operation.
