Hong Kong Disneyland Reopening February 19th

After 77 days of its latest closure, Hong Kong Disneyland will reopen for the third time starting February 19th. Along with this, a number of new initiatives will be instituted to further strengthen measures against COVID-19 at the park. The park has been closed since December 2nd due to a rise in COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong. February 19th marks the park’s third reopening, following those in September and June of last year.

Among the new measures includes mandatory COVID-19 testing for all Cast Members every 14 days, as required by the latest regulations in Hong Kong.

Additionally, all Guests must scan the “LeaveHomeSafe” QR code at the park entrance, or register their names, contact numbers, and date and time of visit on the official Hong Kong Disneyland website before entering the premises. All visiting Guests will be required to provide their names and contact numbers on the Hong Kong Disneyland Park Reservation website when reserving their visit date with valid tickets or membership cards prior to arrival. Additionally, “LeaveHomeSafe” QR codes will be displayed across the resort, such as the entrance of the park, restaurants and hotel recreation facilities.

The park also provided a new video themed to The Incredibles to explain the latest safety procedures at the park.

Reservations for all guests will begin from 10 a.m. on February 18. Guests are also required to make a health declaration as part of their reservation process.

The resort will continue with its health and safety measures including temperature screening, the wearing of face masks, social distancing, and increased cleaning and sanitization in accordance with the latest regulations and guidance from the Hong Kong government and health authorities.

Similar to park operations prior to the recent closure, a five-day per week operation will remain in place, with the park closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays (except public holidays and special days designated by the resort from time to time) until further notice. Additionally, the park will control capacity as required by government regulations.

Michael Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, offered the following statement:

From everyone at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, we wish you good health, happiness and prosperity in the year of the Ox. Every cast member has been putting tremendous effort in preparing our park reopening.  I could not be more thrilled to announce that our park will be reopened on February 19, to welcome guests to experience the magic of our 15th anniversary and our new Castle of Magical Dreams.  I want to give thanks for the support of our guests and the countless efforts from our cast members during this challenging time.

Hong Kong Disneyland is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary, and the special event will resume with the park’s reopening. The Castle of Magical Dreams, newly completed shortly before the park’s closure, will also be open for Guests once again.

Now, the final resorts to remain closed are Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, the latter of which is currently slated to reopen on April 2nd.

Hong Kong Disneyland Unveils Transformation of Sleeping Beauty Castle

As Hong Kong Disneyland kicked off its 15th Anniversary celebrations, it unveiled the spectacular transformation of Sleeping Beauty Castle into the dazzling Castle of Magical Dreams. Check out the details, videos, and images as shared below by DisneyParksBlog.

Looking closely at the lofty towers, you might spot Snow White’s apple, Abu, Mushu, and Merida’s bow and arrow. Additionally, murals depicting each princess and queen pursuing their passions can be found around the area, each reflecting deep research on the time periods that the heroines hail from. For example, Cinderella can be seen taking a hot air balloon ride over her kingdom, Aurora is dabbling in falconry, and Ariel is braving the seas on a sailboat to visit her underwater family.

Inspired by 13 stories of beloved Disney Princesses and Queens, the Castle of Magical Dreams offers something special for every guest with its many towers and spires – embracing iconic patterns, textures, colors unique to each heroine’s story. This is the first time at any Disney theme park that a castle has shifted from being representative of only one princess to featuring multiple heroines – highlighting the diversity of our unique characters and their stories.

With heroines hailing from all over the world, this castle serves as a mosaic of different cultures with architectural inspirations from Europe, China, and even Southeast Asia. While guests will not see a complete depiction of the princess or queen’s image, interpretations of each can be found in various architectural elements.

Detail of the new Castle of Magical Dreams at Hong Kong Disneyland

As part of the castle’s magical transformation, the resort invited guests, cast members, community partners and Disney friends, including Mickey Mouse, to share their own dreams and wishes on “magical dream cards.” These cards were collected in a treasure chest, and lifted to the top of the tallest tower in the castle – ensuring that the heart of the resort will always be filled with hopes and dreams.

As a tribute to the original Sleeping Beauty Castle, Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather can now be seen spreading fairy dust across the castle’s breezeway, casting light into the chandeliers, and leading the way to a new rotunda featuring 9,000 points of dancing light.

The Castle of Magical Dreams stands today as the centerpiece of Hong Kong Disneyland – a shining beacon of courage, hope and possibility to all guests.

Hong Kong Disneyland to Close Again Due to Slight Rise in COVID-19 Cases

Just under a month after reopening, Hong Kong Disneyland has announced that it is closing due to another outbreak of COVID-19 after 52 new confirmed cases were recorded just today.

“As required by the government and health authorities in line with prevention efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close from July 15.”

The park had reopened on June 18 to a grand ceremony and castle unveiling. As with all other Disney Parks reopenings, Hong Kong Disneyland reopened with limited capacity and increased health and safety measures. Since then, however, the government has shut down most entertainment venues and fitness centers, and restaurants can only do take-out after 6:00 PM, with only tables of up to four allowed before that time. Public gatherings must be limited to 50 people or less.

Hong Kong Disneyland was the second Disney park to reopen, and the first to close back down due to a second wave of COVID-19 cases.
