Citricos To Be Refurbished in Grand Floridian Redesign

With Enchanted Rose now open and the Grand Floridian Orchestra officially moved into an odd corner of the lobby, work continues as part of the resort’s redesign, now with Citricos set to undergo refurbishment.

The second-floor restaurant is set to become “Victoria and Albert’s Bistro”, a slightly different dining concept that still retained the signature aspect of the restaurant.

The refurbishment for the restaurant will take place in phases, and while the space will remain open thoughout, the bar will close in February and the menu will be slightly modified while work takes place in the kitchen. Dining room renovations will begin sometime in May, with the project expected to be completed by Summer 2020.

Bob Chapek is not a fan of the look and feel of Disney’s Grand Floridian hotel. Here is an excerpt from a story from wdwnt in January 2017:

It appears Chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek is not a big fan of the current Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Walt Disney World’s flagship hotel and often most expensive per night. Similar to the recently initiated shakeup in housekeeping for Disney World, Chapek feels as if the Four Seasons Resort Orlando is putting them to shame when it comes to what a luxury resort on-property should be. So, what’s the solution? To completely gut the 28-year-old Magic Kingdom area resort, of course.

Should it come to fruition, all of the rooms and the lobby of the resort will be completely gutted and rebuilt with a more modern-luxury theme, perhaps along the lines of the new hotel being constructed at the Disneyland Resort.

As it stands now, this project may not even be in the design phase as of yet, but it seems as if it will come to fruition should Chapek remain at helm of Parks and Resorts for the foreseeable future.

While the next phase includes Citricos, we also know that the concierge level lounge in the lobby building will be getting an overhaul imminently, likely followed by the Grand Floridian Cafe.

The space that today is Citricos was once Flagler’s Restaurant, which opened on June 28, 1988. It featured Italian and continental cuisine. It closed on July 6, 1997, to become Cítricos on November 8.

Progress Update On Walkway From Grand Floridian To Magic Kingdom

It’s probably going to be some time before we’ll be able to walk all the way from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom. Guests traveling from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom have only been able to the get to the park via monorail or boat transportation, but soon that will change. At this point in time, walking is not an option, unless you want to swim across the canal.

Thanks to the addition of a new swing-arm bridge, guests will soon be able to travel on foot to the park. This will be a great alternative when the monorails are down or the lines are long to leave the park. Let’s take a look at how the progress is coming along.

The bridge is already installed, but is still in the “open” position that allows the boats and barges, like the Electrical Water Pageant, to pass through.

Wooden framework is also being put together on the Grand Floridian side, too, as guests will need a boarding ramp for the bridge.

This pathway and bridge will be a nice addition to the area, and one that’s been needed for a while. There will most likely be a security booth set up somewhere along the way for guests that are walking from the resort, similar to the booth near the Contemporary Resort walkway.

Update: GOP Fundraiser No Longer Being Held @ Grand Floridian

The Republican Party’s Statesman’s Dinner originally scheduled to take place on December 7th at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort in Walt Disney World has been relocated to an undisclosed venue in Miami.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had quickly announced that President Donald Trump would be headlining the state’s major annual Republican Party fundraiser after it was rescheduled from the original November 9th date; then set to take place at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.

The Trump National Doral Miami resort will be the venue for the GOP’s winter meetings, but the location of the Republican Party’s Statesman’s Dinner in Miami has not been released. The fundraising event will be closed to the media. Last year, the event raised Florida Republicans $500,000 and is their preeminent fundraising event annually.

Enchanted Rose Now Open At Grand Floridian

According to a cast member via Disney Lists;

“Get ready to step into a tale as old as time when you enter the new Enchanted Rose lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. As of today, this beautiful addition to the resort is now open!

Inspired by the magic and romance of Disney’s popular live-action movie, “Beauty and the Beast,” the lounge features four unique gathering spaces inspired by Belle and the Beast with elegance around every corner. Above the main bar, you’ll take in the sights of a gorgeous chandelier inspired by Belle’s flowing golden ball gown, while the library showcases classical baroque designs and French furnishings.

A garden room takes its inspiration from the enchanted forest surrounding the castle, and an outdoor patio evokes the romance of Beast’s garden terrace.

I recently shared a few details about the menu, which features a variety of delectable, shareable bites like artisanal cheeses, a house-made flatbread, short rib sliders, and even white sturgeon caviar. The lounge’s focal point is its library of wines. Sit back, relax and enjoy charming wines from around the world served by the ounce, glass, or bottle. Champagne, beer, and cider will also be available along with tableside cocktails.

While browsing the menu, you can read about a story of love that inspired the Amour cocktail. There’s also a story of envy to accompany the Envie cocktail. Brian Koziol, Master Sommelier, states “Our tales of tableside cocktails are a contrast of each other. The Amour is an elegant vodka cocktail featuring notes of citrus, pear, and flowers with a slightly sweet taste, while characteristics of the apple brandy Envie showcase apples, herbs, and bitters with a potent taste.”

Starting today, Enchanted Rose is now open! Guests can find it on the second floor of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
