Disney Announces 4th of July (week) Celebrations at Walt Disney World

Via DisneyLists.com

Fourth of July is a time for patriotic celebrations across the United States, and Walt Disney World will commemorate the holiday with exciting fanfare. Star-spangled spectaculars are a time-honored tradition across the resort, reflecting Walt Disney’s deep love of America and faith in the nation’s future.

Here are some of the ways guests can celebrate the stars and stripes this July 4 holiday.

1 – Nighttime Spectaculars Light Up the Skies

Magic Kingdom Park

Park Hours: July 3, 8 a.m.-12 midnight.; July 4, 8 a.m.-1 a.m.

“Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” – a nighttime spectacular with booming fireworks lighting up the sky and orchestrated to patriotic melodies. Shows will take place July 3 and July 4 at 9:20 p.m.

Guests can also dance the night away with DJs mixing tunes throughout the park.

EPCOT

Park Hours: July 4, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

“EPCOT Forever,” the limited-time spectacle of fireworks, lasers, lighting and special effects, will include a patriotic Fourth of July grand finale – “Heartbeat of Freedom.” The show will take place at 9 p.m.

A cappella vocal group Voices of Liberty will perform numbers from the American song book beneath the rotunda in The American Adventure.

Some of your favorite Disney pals will don their “Spirit of ’76” attire and meet with guests throughout the day, also at The American Adventure.

2 – Celebrating at Disney Resort Hotels

Disney Resort hotels get into the red, white and blue spirit with an array of patriotic events and activities. From campfire cookouts at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground to Movies Under the Stars or a leisurely afternoon poolside, summer delights abound. Guests staying in resort hotels on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake can cap off their day viewing the nightly Electrical Water Pageant. This cavalcade of sea creatures in lights includes a patriotic grand finale featuring the American flag and stars all in sparkling lights. More information about special activities is available in each resort’s daily schedule.

3 – Food That Is Worth a Salute

For a limited time, Walt Disney World guests can dazzle their taste buds with patriotic bites and sips in honor of the nation’s birthday. Indulgences returning this year include a Fourth of July Fruit Tart, a blackberry custard topped with fresh berries and a vanilla panna cotta popsicle, available June 27-July 4 at Contempo Café in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. At EPCOT, look for a Fourth of July Liege Waffle, available on July 4 only at Connections Café. There will be many more tantalizing treats at all four parks, Disney Springs, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and resort hotels. More details will be released soon.

4 – Celebrate the 4th of July Every Day

America is celebrated every day of the year at Walt Disney World, with fan-favorite attractions that pay tribute to the country’s history.

Main Street, U.S.A., inspired by Walt Disney’s childhood hometown of Marceline, Missouri, is a step back in time to a quintessential American town at the turn of the 20th century. The colorful Victorian setting is where guests can enjoy the famous Dapper Dans barbershop quartet, horse-drawn carriages, and the high-flying revelry of the Main Street Philharmonic band.

Since the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, the daily Flag Retreat ceremony has retired the American flag for the night in a celebratory tribute to U.S. Veterans, who often participate in the ceremony, receiving warm recognition for their service and sacrifice.

Set in the Revolutionary War era, Liberty Square pays tribute to daily life in the original thirteen colonies. Guests can get up close to an authentic replica of the Liberty Bell and meet all 45 Presidents of the United States in a stirring show tracing the nation’s history inside the Hall of Presidents. A walk along the Rivers of America from Liberty Square to neighboring Frontierland is a journey through the country’s era of westward expansion.

The American Adventure, located in World Showcase at EPCOT, features a dramatic production including 35 Audio-Animatronics figures that retell pivotal moments and events throughout the country’s history. From the landing of the Mayflower to Valley Forge, the Civil War to the Great Depression, Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain guide guests on this trip through time.

Disney Cruise Line is turning 25 this summer! From dazzling new entertainment offerings and family activities to inspired menu items and a themed merchandise collection, there is so much to look forward to on board all five ships from May through September of 2023.

With the official celebration beginning in just a few months, we’re excited to reveal more details about the brand-new magic guests can experience during our “Silver Anniversary at Sea.”

Say “Cheers” During a Shimmering Soiree

A captain’s reception is a well-known cruising tradition that has been enjoyed by Disney Cruise Line guests since the very beginning. In honor of our “Silver Anniversary at Sea,” we are reimagining this time-honored event into a one-of-a-kind celebratory experience, adding an extra dose of magic to sailings this summer.

On one evening each cruise, guests will be invited to join their ship’s captain and cruise director in the atrium for an anniversary toast. The festive affair will feature appearances from Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse — dressed for the occasion in their shimmering new looks, of course! — and a delightful rendition of the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” theme song.

Celebrate with A Limited-Edition Castaway Club Gift

If guests have sailed with Disney Cruise Line before, they can be part of the best club on the high seas – the Castaway Club, which recognizes returning Disney Cruise Line guests with exclusive rewards and perks.

We’re excited to announce that all Castaway Club members who sail during the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” this summer will receive a limited-edition framed art print in their stateroom to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime celebration until supplies last. As shown above, this design was created by Disney artist Joe Kaminski, whose work is featured in The Art of Disney galleries, Disney resort hotels and Disney Cruise Line ships. (One 11×14 framed print will be delivered per stateroom.)

Now is everyone’s chance to take part in a milestone celebration 25 years in the making! Make sure to check back here for even more “Silver Anniversary at Sea” news.

Disney Gives First Look At Stunning New Nighttime Spectacular!

On January 27, the Walt Disney Company will kick off one heck of an anniversary celebration. The company that started with a suitcase and a dream will turn 100! That’s right — Walt’s magical creation will officially be 100 years old. To begin with, most of the celebration will take place at Disneyland Resort — Walt’s original theme park. To celebrate, Disney has released some gorgeous new merchandise, and there will be two new nighttime spectaculars — Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland Park and World of Color: One at Disney California Adventure Park.

Up until now, Disney has only shared an artist rendering of World of Color: One. However, on New Year’s Eve, Disney released a first look at the new show. And I don’t know about you, but this show looks so marvelous. Take a look at the sneak peek video shared by theme park reporter Scott Gustin.

If you haven’t had the chance to learn much about Disney’s phenomenal new water show, here’s some more info!

Dare to Make a Difference

It takes only a single ripple to make a huge impact. After all, a ripple can generate a wave—and a wave can power an ocean of change.

Many Disney and Pixar characters have dared to make waves and change their world for the better. In World of Color – One, their stories take center stage—unfolding amid a breathtaking blend of dancing water and incredible special effects.

A World of Characters

World of Color – One celebrates the rich storytelling legacy begun by Walt Disney a century ago, bringing to spectacular life moments from favorite films including The Lion King, Soul, Moana and many more.

Watch in wonder as some of the most courageous, loving and inspiring characters get brought to life in new ways!

World of Color

Both Wondrous Journeys and World of Color: One will premiere at Disneyland Resort on January 27 — the day the anniversary celebration kicks off. That is also the same day that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open in Mickey’s ToonTown.

World of Color currently uses a virtual queue for those who wish to see it. You can join the virtual queue twice per day by using the Disneyland Resort mobile app.

Happily Ever After Returning to Disney World

Last year, Disney Parks shocked fans when it announced the beloved Happily Ever After would “sparkle into Disney history”. Sure, it was known that a new nighttime spectacular would be taking over Cinderella Castle and Main Street, U.S.A. for Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary, but a full retirement caught many off guard.

However, after multiple teases, Walt Disney World will officially welcome Happily Ever After back very soon!

The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Central Florida attracts millions of Guests each year. And each and every Guest will visit the theme parks for a different reason — the food, the merchandise, the attractions –, but one thing that draws the crowds: the nighttime spectaculars.

When Disney Parks announced that Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams would be retiring from its nighttime slot at Magic Kingdom Park, many were distraught and skeptical about the future of the Resort’s premiere fireworks show. Then Happily Ever After debuted. Of course, some were critical — it wasn’t Wishes, and yes, nothing ever will be Wishes — but Happily Ever After successfully combined the nostalgia of its predecessor, the projection-mapping technology of the former pre-show, Celebrate the Magic, and added a distinct Disney flair that brought hundreds to tears.

Happily Ever After

Flashforward to October 1, 2021, and Happily Ever After’s replacement — Disney Enchantment — would get a lukewarm reception when it debuted for The World’s Most Magical Celebration with criticisms at its lack of nostalgia, its use of covers as opposed to the original versions of Disney songs that so many fans adore, and for its less than spectacular fireworks. It has grown on some though, and the recent addition of Walt Disney and Roy Disney during the show softened the edges of what felt like a somewhat cold celebration for the Disney Resort’s half centennial.

As we near a year since the 50th anniversary began, fans of the Disney Park are wondering what Disney will do with Enchantment when the event ends next year. In addition to staying quiet about nighttime events, including those at Disneyland Resort, “Happily Ever After” singer Jordan Fisher started theories when he posted a cryptic video referencing the fan-favorite spectacular, and all signs seemingly pointed to news coming from D23 Expo 2022.

During the Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products presentation in Hall D23, Chairmain of the division Josh D’Amaro, revealed that upon the end of the 50th celebrations, Happily Ever After will once more take over Cinderella Castle and the Magic Kingdom sky. Happily Ever After will return next year.

The replacement of Happily Ever After was just one of the changes that came for the Park’s celebration. Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lane debuted, as did the announcement that Park Pass reservations were staying until at least 2024. As experiences change, and paywalls become the norm, the return of a familiar favorite may temper some frustrations.

Firework Dessert Parties Return to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

The first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is just around the corner, and soon guests will be able to make reservations for two different Firework Dessert Parties at Magic Kingdom.

One of the most anticipated offerings of the Halloween Party is the return of “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular,” a Halloween-themed fireworks show that debuted in 2018. The fireworks have not been seen since 2019, which is the last time the party was available. Guests line up early to watch the 9:15 pm parade and then stay there for the fireworks at 10:15 pm. Many guests prefer to have guaranteed viewing for the fireworks, and if that is you, then you may want to consider the Dessert Parties.

Two Dessert Party Options

There are two options available: (1) the “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing” or (2) the “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace.”

Both options include an assortment of desserts such as chocolate-dipped strawberries, seasonal fruits, cheeses, and other “ghoulish goodies” and an assortment of beverages. Beer and wine are available for guests over 21.

The difference between the parties (in addition to price) is where you view the fireworks. With the Plaza Garden option, you’ll be taken to the Plaza Garden, where you’ll stand to view the fireworks. With the Tomorrowland Terrace option, you’ll be able to view the fireworks while seated on the restaurant’s terrace.

Pricing for the Dessert Parties

Party with Plaza Garden Viewing

  • Price: $99 (including tax and gratuity) for Guests ages 10 and older; $59 (including tax and gratuity) for Guests ages 3 to 9

Party at Tomorrowland Terrace

  • Price: $115 (including tax and gratuity) for Guests ages 10 and older; $69 (including tax and gratuity) for Guests ages 3 to 9

It’s important to note that a valid admission ticket for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party on the same night is required and is not included in the price of the dessert party. Since the Halloween Party prices range from $109-$199, you’ll be spending a lot of money in one evening if you add a dessert party. While it may not be for everyone, anyone who wants a guaranteed viewing location for the fireworks may consider it money well spent.

Reservations

Advance reservations will open online beginning August 9, 2022. We highly recommend making reservations if you want to attend one of these parties.

2022 Event Dates

  • August 12, 16, 19, 23, 26 and 30
