Figment Little Golden Book Cover Revealed

The previously-announced Figment Little Golden Book has revealed its cover ahead of its January 2024 publication. The book can be preordered now on Amazon.

Figment Little Golden Book

Written and illustrated by Jason Grandt, “Figment” includes lyrics from the Sherman Brothers-penned song “One Little Spark,” and explores the ideas of creativity and imagination.

The cover features the purple dragon in his yellow and red shirt, paintbrush in hand. Dreamfinder on his Dream Mobile can be seen in the background along the top right. The Imagination Pavilion is below, with guests standing around outside it.

Both digital Kindle and physical hardcover copies are currently available for pre-order and priced at $5.99.

While this is Figment’s first Little Golden Book, there have been others released in the past that are related to Disney attractions — including a box set with books based on the Jungle Cruise, Space Mountain, Orange Bird, the Haunted Mansion, and “it’s a small world.” Each of these Little Golden Books are also sold individually.

A set of 12 Little Golden Books commemorating the 100th anniversary of Disney as a company was also released in December last year.

Figment has been a staple of EPCOT since 1983, cherished and beloved by guests from past and present. Imagineers Tony Baxter and Steve Kirk led the development of a new, elaborate, adventurous dark ride for all ages at a time in which many visitors felt the park was lacking an experience children could appreciate as much as adults. Journey Into Imagination was born, and a little purple dragon became the central figure, along with the mystical Dreamfinder, who would help riders learn to explore and appreciate the limitless power and potential of their own creative minds.

Our indigo friend has had a rough go of it over the years, enduring three immensely different iterations of the ride to varying degrees of success, failure, love, and pure, loathsome hatred. Generally, the public regards the original version as overwhelmingly superior, the second as one of the worst attractions of all time, with the third and current design somewhere in between. Our full and in-depth Figment history is available here, in honor of Imagination’s 40th anniversary.

As the major overhaul of EPCOT began, it was rumored that a new attraction in the space would feature characters from Pixar’s “Inside Out” alongside Figment, who was featured briefly in an Easter egg in the film; however, no ride change was ever announced. Joy from “Inside Out” does now meet guests in ImageWorks.

While his home attraction continues to see its popularity wane and fade over time, the character continues to expand in popularity and presence across EPCOT and general media. In September 2022, Deadline broke the news that Disney is developing a movie based on Figment. The feature film will be produced by Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures, with Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (“Pokémon Detective Pikachu”) serving as writers.

Guests can now meet Figment in person at EPCOT. A new meet and greet featuring the fan-favorite character debuted inside the Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT on September 10.

The Little Golden Book starring the little purple dragon full of imagination will release on January 2, 2024. You can pre-order it now on Amazon.

FIGMENT Gets a Meet and Greet

When we think of Disney, we often conjure images of beloved characters, enchanting princess tales, and magical kingdoms. However, one often overlooked gem at Walt Disney World Resort is the unique and imaginative character known as Figment.

Figment is a small, purple dragon with a mischievous personality who serves as a guide through the wonders of the human mind. Figment can be found in the Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT, one of the four theme parks that make up Walt Disney World Resort.

While the world may not know his name, he is a true A-list celebrity to Disney fans.

Figment

Figment’s fanbase has completely exploded over the past couple of years. His nostalgic element, mixed with the fact that he is a Walt Disney World original character, makes him very important to a lot of fans. Disney has not always registered the love that fans have for Figment, but that shift began to happen last year with the sale of his Popcorn bucket.

When Disney released the Figment Popcorn bucked, fans lost their minds. Lines stretched through all the Parks in the hot Florida sun just to grab one of these coveted accessories. The resale market on these also blew up, with people selling these buckets for massive upcharges.

Earlier this year, Disney announced the thrilling news that Figment would be receiving his own meet and greet in EPCOT. Fans will finally be able to hug and interact with this beloved character. At today’s D23 presentation, fans were treated to a viewing of what Figment will look like, and they also received the best news possible.

The Figment meet and greet is started Sunday, September 10! This is much sooner than fans were originally anticipating, and the fandom is certainly delighted at this news.

5 Favorite EPCOT International Festival of the Arts Photo Ops

During the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, guests can celebrate the art of photography with themed photo ops from January 13 through February 20, 2023!

There are quite a few places around EPCOT to capture works of art during the festival with Disney PhotoPass Service, but here are five of our favorites!

Figment Magic Shots

Magic Shots are all about using our imagination, which of course leads us to Figment! This year, we’re introducing three new Magic Shots inspired by everyone’s favorite playful dragon. Guests can find these Magic Shots at the following locations:

  • Figment Wings: Most Disney PhotoPass locations in EPCOT
  • Figment Chalk Art: At the main entrance to the park and near the entrance to World Showcase under the Monorail beam
  • Figment Flying: Most Disney PhotoPass locations in EPCOT

Tiny World Magic Shot: Festival of the Arts Edition

This 360-degree shot near the main entrance of the park (now available both during the day and after dark!) has quickly become a fan favorite, so we’re giving it a bright splash of color during the festival. Even if guests have taken this photo before, be sure they stop by for this limited-time edition.

Artful Step-in Frames

All around EPCOT, guests can literally step into works of art. The more they have fun with it, the better their photos will be! Disney PhotoPass photographers will be at select locations to help guests strike a perfect pose.

Paintbrush Prop + Magic Shot

No, these Magic Shots aren’t a figment of our imagination! After 6 p.m. at the main entrance of the park, a photographer can offer guests a special prop that creates a beautiful light painting Magic Shot when the photo appears in their gallery. Art made easy!

Pixel Stick

When the sun goes down, the famous pixel stick comes out! Guests can bask in the glow of the light while a photographer creates a painting around them. Every photo taken through this method is a completely unique work of art. It’s available near Creations Shop on the pathway to World Showcase. When guests see a giant light-up stick being masterfully twirled around, they’ll know they’re in the right place.

Guests can easel-y download and share these and all of the other Disney PhotoPass photos and videos from their entire visit by purchasing Memory Maker or Memory Maker One Day entitlement.

Figment Waffles Are Coming to Disney

It’s time to grab your favorite stretchy pants, best friend, and a couple of forks as we are ready to dig into the latest dishes and sips for the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. And yes… we said FIGMENT WAFFLES are coming!

When most Disney fans think about an EPCOT Festival, it’s likely the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival will come to mind. With the 2022 Food and Wine Festival and EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays wrapped up, we’re heading into the new year eager for the Festival of the Arts to arrive.

The beloved 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts kicks off on January 13 and runs through February 20, 2023. This year, the festival features 50 new menu items at the enticing Festival food booths spread throughout the theme park.

While many of the favorite food booths are returning around the World Showcase, new food booths are debuting, including Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey: Art, Food, and Little Sparks of Magic.

Journey Into Imagination With Figment

Disney has already shared that sometime in 2023, Figment, the popular purple dragon from the nostalgic EPCOT attraction Journey Into Imagination With Figment, will be available for a meet and greet.

Additionally, Figment is getting the spotlight during the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts with plenty of merchandise, as well as the grand return of last year’s ridiculously popular Figment Popcorn Bucket, which will be available during the festival while supplies last.

As Disney releases foodie guides for the EPCOT Festival of the Arts, we can’t help but focus on the mouthwatering Figment delights headed to the Disney Park.

The new booth, Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey: Art, Food, and Little Sparks of Magic will feature deliciously colorful bites and sips, including:

  • Fruit Pizza: Watermelon, compressed cantaloupe, berries, and berry balsamic
  • Grape Smoothie with freeze-dried SKITTLES bite-sized candies (non-alcoholic)
  • 3 Daughters Brewing Black Cherry Hard Cider
  • 3 Daughters Brewing Blood Orange Hard Cider
  • 3 Daughters Brewing Passion Fruit Hard Cider
  • Rainbow Cider Flight
  • 81Bay Brewing Co. Green with Envy Blonde Ale
  • 81Bay Brewing Co. Blue Butterfly Lager
  • Urban Artifact The Gadget Raspberry & Blackberry Midwest Fruit Tart
  • Rainbow Beer Flight
Figment

But, surprisingly, the new Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey: Art, Food, and Little Sparks of Magic booth is NOT where you’ll find what will surely be the coveted Festival of the Arts food must-have… the FIGMENT WAFFLE.

Head on over to Connections Café in the World Celebration portion of the Park for a chance to taste the Figment Liege Waffle as pictured below:

Sorry, Mickey Waffles! But we’ll be on a strict Figment Liege Waffle diet between the Festival of the Arts dates of January 13 – February 20, 2023.

Figment Is Getting His Own Movie!

It’s been a wild time in terms of Disney movies, both animated and live-action. Disney has been creating some truly great movies recently, like Encanto, Turning Red, and the highly-anticipated upcoming sequel Disenchanted. On the flip side, there have been some less successful films like Lightyear and the recently released Pinocchio. There are a number of other live-action films coming down the pike — including Snow White, The Little Mermaid, and Peter Pan and Wendy. However, there is one movie that was just announced that may surprise you.

According to a report from Deadline, Disney is going to make a movie about the adorable, purple dragon, Figment.

Per Deadline:

A Disney film is in the works featuring the character Figment, a small purple dragon who serves as the mascot of Epcot’s Imagination Pavillion in Orlando. The feature hails from Seth Rogen’s Point Grey with Pokémon Detective Pikachu‘s Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit set to write, Deadline has learned.

Rogen and his producing partners Evan Goldberg and James Weaver have released various TV and film projects under their Point Grey banner including Hulu’s Pam & Tommy, Amazon’s The Boys and The Boys Presents: Diabolical, as well as This Is The End, The Interview,The Disaster Artist, and An American Pickle.

Up next, they have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem on deck.

The writing team of Hernandez and Samit penned 2019’s Pokémon Detective Pikachu, 2021’s The Addams Family 2, and created the upcoming Hulu animated series Koala Man, premiering in 2023.

At this time, we have no idea what the story will be about, but hopefully, they can do justice to Figment — who has become more popular over the years and is now the symbol of EPCOT.

Figment has become so popular that, when Disney released a Figment popcorn bucket at the 2022 Festival of the Arts, people waited in line for 5 hours to get their hands on one. Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro also shared that a Figment meet and greet will be returning to the Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT in the near future.
