More Character Greetings Return

We’re seeing more and more character greetings return to Walt Disney World theme parks and we’re very excited about it. Last weekend, Olaf returned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At EPCOT, two new characters are back and one has moved to their original greeting location.

Donald Duck at the Mexico Pavilion

Donald Duck is back to greeting guests at the Mexico pavilion outside in his normal meet and greet location on the right side of the pavilion.

Vanellope and Joy at ImageWorks in the Imagination! Pavilion

Since EPCOT reopened in July 2020, Joy from “Inside Out” has been enjoying the gardens next to the Imagination! Pavilion while greeting guests. She has now moved back to her original location inside ImageWorks. Vanellope has also returned to ImageWorks.

Do note greetings are still modified (distanced greetings with no direct contact between characters and guests)  and hugs and autographs are not available at this time.

Donald Duck Gold Statue Coming to Magic Kingdom

The next Disney Fab 50 character to be announced is Donald Duck. Animator Eric Goldberg, who animated Donald for Gran Fiesta Tour at EPCOT, helped Walt Disney Animation Studios make the reveal.

The Disney Fab 50 Character Collection celebrates Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

Donald will be at Magic Kingdom alongside Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Daisy.

New Donald Duck Bus Wrap Arrives

Shortly before Walt Disney World Resort closed due to COVID-19, we started seeing new character bus wraps themed around some of our favorite classic Disney characters. It seems that Donald has just joined the fleet as well!

The bus features horizontal striping in Donald’s classic colors: red and white, with a very large blue stripe and finishing with an orange at the bottom. In the window of the bus we see a very happy Donald Duck grinning at those passing by.

With the first fleet of large character face wraps set to be phased out by these new wraps, we should expect to see new character bus wraps show up around the resort.

New Donald Poster Art Released For Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Disney’s ongoing cartoon poster series celebrating the March 4 debut of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues with new art inspired by the zany “Split Decision” short.

As you can see, the latest “Split Decision” poster features two very different Donalds! In the video short, Mickey takes Donald Duck to Professor Von Drake’s lab to cure his temper but something strange and unexpected happens!

You’ll soon be able to experience the unexpected surprises of Mickey’s cartoon universe like never before at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.  During each adventure, you’ll enter the NEW Mickey Mouse cartoon short “Perfect Picnic” for an one-of-a-kind adventure where anything can happen. Why? Because here, mouse rules apply!

And before experiencing Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll see posters of these existing award-winning shorts that might have previously premiered at the Chinese Theatre – all created specifically for the attraction by Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Television Animation.

In the meantime, be sure to check out the “Split Decision” short for a look inside an amazing cartoon universe you’ll be able to enjoy at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway beginning March 4, 2020, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and later at Disneyland park in 2022.

The Three Caballeros Makes Its MagicBand Debut

Just in at Walt Disney World is a new, open-edition MagicBand featuring Donald, Jose Carioca, and Panchito Romero Miguel Junipero Francisco Quintero Gonzalez, also known as simply Panchito Pistolas. “The Three Caballeros” are back for their first-ever MagicBand debut.

The cream-colored band features Donald in a serape, surrounded by his guitar, some streamers, and flowers.

Panchito is giving his best grito (akin to the American “yee-haw”), while Jose strums his finest samba tunes on his guitar. These two are also surrounded by flowers and streamers.

Between the flattering cream-clored band and gorgeous watercolor-style images of The Three Caballeros, this MagicBand is a must-have for any Caballeros fan, or even fans of the Gran Fiesta Tour.

The bands retail for $24.99 each.
