We’re counting down the days until we “ignite the night” once again at the Disneyland Resort, with the return of three beloved nighttime spectaculars. T-minus fourteen days!
In addition to “World of Color” at Disney California Adventure Park and “Main Street Electrical Parade” at Disneyland Park returning on April 22, 2022, “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular also will debut at Disneyland Park on this day.
“Disneyland Forever” fireworks is a street-to-sky celebration filled with sparkling pyrotechnics and immersive projections that envelop our Guests in a breathtaking journey with surprising special effects. This beloved spectacular – which originally debuted in 2015 for the 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration – transports Guests from an Anaheim orange grove into the worlds of timeless Disney and Pixar stories. “Disneyland Forever” also features two original songs: the theme “Live the Magic” and the inspiring closing song “Kiss Goodnight,” written by Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman.
Upon its return, there are many places around Disneyland Park where Guests can enjoy “Disneyland Forever.” Whether they choose to watch on Main Street, U.S.A., in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, near “it’s a small world,” or around the Rivers of America, each location has a different, exciting and immersive experience of the show, as each location bursts to life with colors, projections, and pyrotechnics. The multi-dimensional aspect of the show allows Guests to discover new surprises depending on which location they choose!
As a reminder, when “Disneyland Forever” fireworks return on April 22, it will run weekends only (Friday through Sunday). “Mickey’s Mix Magic” will present its high-energy, projections-only show during the week (Monday through Thursday) until late spring. At that time, “Disneyland Forever” fireworks will then run nightly in the summer.

Ever since it premiered in November 2021, fans have not been able to get enough of one of Disney’s newest movies, Encanto. From the beautiful story to the gorgeous animation and the unforgettable songs, there is a lot to love about Encanto. The film’s success has even caused fans to ask Disney to bring a Colombia pavilion to the EPCOT World Showcase. Encanto has taken the world by storm, with no signs of slowing down.
Whenever a movie is incredibly successful, Disney thinks of ways to incorporate the film and its characters into the theme parks. Frozen came out in 2013 and now, it seems that every parade and new show features the film. The Maelstrom attraction was even rethemed and is now Frozen: Ever After. Now, Encanto is getting in on the action, especially at Disneyland Resort.
Mirabel Madrigal recently made her Disneyland Resort debut and is greeting Guests in Frontierland at Disneyland Park. There will also be a brand new Encanto float in the Main Street Electrical Parade when it returns to The Happiest Place on Earth. The Main Street Electrical Parade is currently scheduled to return on April 22 — the same day as the Disneyland Forever fireworks.
Disney is now sharing that the popular “it’s a small world” attraction will also be receiving special Encanto treatment. The facade of the attraction is frequently used for incredibly Disney projections, and soon, an Encanto show will be projected on it! Disney Parks Blog shared more information about the new show:
Now, it is important to remember, that this new projection show will only be available for a limited time!
There’s a saying that goes, “I always judge a man by his shoes (and his watch).
In the 1994 film by the same name, Forrest Gump says, “Mama always said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes–where they going, where they been.”
And apparently, Disney has taken those quotes to a whole new level, developing technology that will identify Guests at Disneyland by their shoes and what they’re wearing in the parks.
According to Patent Yogi, Disney’s technology was created to identify and track Guests based on the shoes they wear when visiting Disneyland with the intention of creating a “more customized experience” for each Guest. For this technology, the patent is titled “A System and Method Using Foot Recognition to Create a Customized Guest Experience,” and the owner is listed as Disney Enterprise.
In theory, this Disney patent is for technology that would work as follows:
As a Guest walks into Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure, sensors and cameras will capture the image of his or her shoes. Those sensors and cameras will identify the brand of shoes worn by Guests, as well as the model of the shoes and the shoes’ color schemes. Sensors will also be located in the ground so that Guests‘ shoe sizes and the tread designs of their shoes will also be captured, which will give more details about the shoes worn by Guests.
Once sensors and cameras gather these pieces of information, the system will associate Guests‘ shoe details with personal details, including Guests‘ names and interests. As a Guest moves throughout the parks, enjoying attractions, entertainment, rides, and food, sensors in the ground capture images of his or her shoes and are able to recognize the Guest wearing the shoes.
According to Patent Yogi, “by knowing what the interests of the person are, a customized experience may then be provided [by Disney’s technology], like presenting a particular media content.”
To put it simply, the Disney shoe recognition patent is for technology that would allow Disney to follow a Guest’s footsteps, identify him or her by a shoe, and ensure that he or she is met with a personalized, customized Disney Parks experience, regardless of his or her location in the parks.
Further, Disney’s shoe recognition technology was also designed to give Guests compliments on their choice of shoes, depending on what they’re wearing.
A potentially significant perk to Disney’s shoe recognition technology is that it presents an unobtrusive way of identifying Guests as compared to other methods, such as fingerprint recognition and retinal identification.
Disney is known for world-class, legendary Guest service, and this Disney patent could be the key to continuing to improve that service as time marches on.
