Disney100 Celebration at Disneyland Resort Begins Jan. 27, 2023

As first announced at D23 Expo 2022 earlier this month, Disney 100 Years of Wonder will be the largest cross-company global celebration in the 100-year history of The Walt Disney Company. Disney Parks around the world will celebrate the 100th anniversary, with the heart of the celebration at Disneyland Resort.

We are pleased to share that at Disneyland Resort, the Disney100 anniversary celebration will officially kick off Jan. 27, 2023, with special limited-time offerings taking place throughout the resort all year long.

Disneyland Resort Cast Members will be among the first to experience the new offerings with special #DisneyCastLife opportunities at the start of the celebration.

When the Disney100 celebration kicks off at Disneyland Resort, here’s just some of what you can expect, with many more details to come:

Beginning Jan. 27, the Happiest Place on Earth will receive new platinum-infused décor throughout the resort, new sparkling looks for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their pals, special food and beverage offerings, merchandise and more.

At Disneyland Park, Walt Disney’s original Sleeping Beauty Castle will be dressed in style for the anniversary. Celebrating wonder, the castle will be adorned with elegant platinum banners and bunting, accented by a magnificent cabochon featuring the three Good Fairies who illuminate it with their shimmering pixie dust. Two majestic water fountains will grace either side of the moat, while a beautiful wishing star will sparkle from the tower above.

Disneyland Resort guests will be dazzled by two all-new nighttime spectaculars.

“World of Color – One” at Disney California Adventure Park will celebrate the storytelling legacy started by Walt Disney a century ago. It will tell a new story of how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. It brings some of the most courageous, loving and inspiring characters to life in new ways. The show will also feature a new original song, “Start a Wave.”

And at Disneyland Park, Walt’s original magic kingdom will become a magnificent canvas with “Wondrous Journeys,” a new nighttime spectacular that will ignite the wonder in all of us. It will feature nods to every Walt Disney Animation Studios film to date, taking us on a journey filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart. It will continue to build upon the park’s state-of-the-art projection effects, turning Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, the façade of “it’s a small world” and the Rivers of America into an artist’s canvas that brings characters to life all around you. On select nights, “Wondrous Journeys” will go even bigger with the addition of sparkling fireworks in the sky above Disneyland. This spectacular will also feature an incredible new song, “It’s Wondrous.”

While Mickey’s Toontown is slated to reopen for guests in spring 2023, we are pleased to announce that the new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction will open early as we kick off the Disney100 anniversary celebration on Jan. 27!

In time for spring, the “Magic Happens” parade will have its long-awaited return to Disneyland park. “Magic Happens” celebrates the awe-inspiring moments of magic that are at the heart of so many Disney stories. This parade reminds us we don’t need wings to fly, shooting stars were made to wish upon, and magic doesn’t stop at midnight.

Plus, even more special entertainment moments are slated to pop up across the resort.

Additional news and details for the Disney100 celebration at Disneyland Resort will be shared ahead of the debut on Jan. 27, 2023.

As you begin to plan your trip to visit Disneyland Resort for the Disney100 anniversary, please know that theme park reservation availability for Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park is currently paused for dates beyond Jan. 8, 2023, and will resume for guests in the coming weeks.

Entertainment, experiences, and offerings may be modified, limited in availability or unavailable, and are subject to restrictions, and change or cancellation without notice. Both valid Theme Park reservation and admission for the same Park on the same day are required for Park entry. Park reservations are limited, subject to availability and not guaranteed. Park admission and offerings are not guaranteed. Visit https://disneytraveltradeinfo.com/dlr for important information to know before visiting the Disneyland Resort.

Mother Skips Line, Causes Scene at Disneyland

While Disneyland is called “The Happiest Place on Earth,” that doesn’t mean things can go wrong while in the Disney Parks. From ride breakdowns to disappointing food, sometimes Guests can have negative experiences, especially when an argument breaks out.

When visiting Disneyland, it may be a little daunting trying to decide where to head and what to ride. From the iconic Haunted Mansion to newer experiences like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Guests are bound to be in for a good time.

One ride stands above the rest, however, when it comes to how unique it is.

Alice in Wonderland is just as much of a classic story as it is a classic dark ride at the Disneyland Resort.

At this attraction, Guests can “take a topsy-turvy trip into the nonsensical world of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland aboard an oversized caterpillar.” The ride is legendary within the Disneyland Resort and something a lot of East Coast Disney Park fans wish they could experience.

However, something not-so-magical happened recently that went viral on social media.

During an encounter involving a Guest who appears to be holding their child, the Guest skips past other Guests waiting in line and hops into a ride vehicle. Some yelling occurs before the Guest quickly gets up and storms out of the attraction with a child in tow.

The Guest then starts yelling at others from outside the attraction’s metal fence.

The video was shared on social media. You can check out the full video down below. Just a warning, the video contains explicit language:

The video ends shortly after the Guest yells “f*** you” at the Guest recording. We are unsure how this situation was handled or what exactly started it in the first place.

Landslide Halts Train Service Near Disney Resort

One of the great things about living in California is the hundreds of miles of gorgeous coastline. From San Diego to San Francisco and beyond, living and working by the water is something that a lot of people want in their lives. However, there are downsides to building things right along the water’s edge, and hundreds of thousands of Californians are about to learn that the hard way.

According to multiple reports, Metrolink and Amtrak services from Irvine, California to San Diego — a distance of about 85 miles — will be shut down for at least one month due to a landslide and corrosion near the train tracks.

According to a report from The San Diego Union-Tribune

Metrolink and Amtrak train service between Orange County and San Diego County has been suspended until further notice because of slope movement beneath the seaside tracks at San Clemente.

The tracks are San Diego’s only viable rail link with Los Angeles and the rest of the United States, and are part of the 350-mile LOSSAN rail corridor from the downtown Union Station to San Luis Obispo on the Central California coast.

“Working with geologists, geotechnical engineers, and surveyors, we have determined (that) to ensure passenger safety service, suspension is necessary,” states an announcement on the Metrolink website. “Until we have confirmation from the experts the slope movement has stopped, we will not resume Metrolink service.”

Unfortunately, the suspension of both Amtrak and Metrolink services could have a massive impact on a lot of local California residents who use the trains to travel to Disneyland Resort. Both Amtrak and Metrolink have stations near Disneyland Resort, and the closing of the lines will mean that certain residents have lost a convenient way to get to The Happiest Place on Earth. Amtrak will be offering bus services to certain locations, but Metrolink is offering nothing to travelers at this time.

Gas prices in California are 70% higher than they are in the rest of the country — averaging more than $6 per gallon — and parking at Disneyland Resort costs $30 per car. The Metrolink provided some Guests with a cheaper and more convenient way to get to the Parks.

Officials have said that they hope to have the track fixed and safe enough to open by mid-November, but there is no definitive opening timeline.

Fans React After Viral Elderly Veteran Sobs During Shock Disneyland Visit

Via InsideTheMagic.net

The Happiest Place On Earth is beloved by many. As Walt Disney’s first theme park, Disneyland is laden with nostalgia and that acute magical touch that can only be found in a place created over 65 years ago.

It’s a dreamscape of glowing lights, laughter, buzzy chatter, and the whirl of screams as Guests ride by in mine trains and log flume vehicles. It’s also a dream for many to visit, and one elderly Guest got the biggest shock when he was surprised with a trip to Disneyland… by a total stranger.

There’s not another feeling quite like walking down Main Street, U.S.A. towards Sleeping Beauty Castle as families, couples, and children saunter by full of churros and popcorn, donning Minnie Mouse ears, and dragging along a bouncing balloon. A Disney trip is an escape from reality; a trip inside a bubble created exclusively to make you smile. And for one elderly gentleman, a surprise trip to the Disney Resort caused him to break down into tears.

video shared by Isaiah Garza (@isaiahgarza), that was since reposted on the official Disney Parks account, shows the creator asking a 100-year-old veteran to go to Disneyland with him after suffering from a bad day, and the result has captured the hearts of millions.

@isaiahgarza

I took a 100 year old veteran to Disneyland & we became best friends ❤️ #disneyland #kindness #friends #veteran #bestfriends

♬ Steal My Sunshine (Single Version) – Len

To recap: The video shows Garza approaching the elderly gentleman and offering to take him to Disneyland. It reveals that the veteran had not been on a ride for over 50 years, and after dancing, eating Mickey-shaped ice creams, and wearing Mickey Mouse ears, the elderly man says it has been one of the best days of his life. He goes on to add that he thought his “life was over”, and that Garza will never know how much he appreciated his trip to Disneyland.

Fans of the Garza, and now the elderly gentleman, have flocked to the comment section in droves to express how they feel about the wonderful moment:

Jaz said:

Stop it when he said I thought my life was over but this day he will remember my heart oh my gosh you get me every time with you’re videos Ily

Hailey added:

can we make this a trend of taking senior citizens out to do fun things?

Another comment read:

A lot of older ppl who can’t move around easily feel no one would want them to come along, thinking they would slow em down. U made him feel great

A poignant message from Ben said:

We give up on people so quickly. Our world is so “disposable.” We should be taking more people on our journey with us.

One other comment in the string of positive messages said:

we will all be alone, or leave someone alone someday. light up someone’s life when you get the chance

The 100-year-old captured the hearts of millions as the video has been seen by over 16 million people on TikTok alone, with additional views coming in from Instagram, and now from the official Disney Parks account. Judging by the comments, Garza intends to continue his friendship with the veteran and is seemingly planning other adventures for the pair.

Tiana’s Palace Officially Coming to One Disney Resort!

Disney has confirmed that Tiana’s Palace will be coming to Disneyland Resort soon! Not only that, there will also be a shop accompanying the restaurant.

Unlike the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Park does not have a Liberty Square section. Instead, there is New Orleans Square, full of fun cuisine and jazz music. It is here where the restaurant and shop will be located.

New Orleans Square is also directly next to Critter Country — the area of the theme park that is home to Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain will close in 2023 and reopen in 2024 with a brand-new Princess and the Frog theme, so bringing Tiana’s Palace to Disneyland makes even more sense. The new Splash Mountain retheme will happen at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort and the ride will be called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Over one year ago, Disneyland Park closed its popular Dress Shop and began some major construction. As time went on, signs were posted outside the shop, indicating that something Princess and the Frog-themed was on the horizon. The signs read “Something new is cooking” and “Gumbo is the spice of life”. As you may know, Tiana’s father was famous for his gumbo.

New orleans

At this time, details remain scarce on the new restaurant and shopping area. There are three other restaurants in New Orleans Square, so it will be interesting to see how Disney makes this one stand out against the others. However, it wouldn’t be Tiana’s palace without her famous beignets, so you know those will certainly be on the menu!
