A child was left by their parents at Disneyland Resort recently, prompting Disney Cast Members to be involved.
Disneyland Resort is known as “The Happiest Place On Earth” and is one of the most popular destinations in the country for families to visit. Both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure are full of beloved attractions and experiences, like Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, the all-new Avengers Campus, Radiator Springs Racers, and The Incredicoaster, to just name a few.
These are all perfect attractions to experience with your family.
Recently, a video gained a lot of reactions on TikTok after it surfaced showing a child being left by their parents near the women’s restroom in Disneyland.
The user shared in another video that they waited with the child until the mother came to get them and then notified Disney Cast Members.
“I waited for the mom to get there so I can leave. The worst part is there was two of them with him and they both decided to get in there together. I didn’t make a scene but I did tell a member after she came out.”
While Disney Cast Members work to ensure that every Disney Park is safe for Guests, there are rules in place to ensure that children, in particular, are taken care of.
According to the official Disney website, Guests 14 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult when visiting Disney theme parks. While your child can ride many attractions solo while in the theme parks, you will need to accompany them during their Park stay.
One of the most memorable parts of a Disney vacation is the fun and delicious meals you have, either in the theme parks or at places like Downtown Disney and Disney Springs. When it comes to dining, Disney truly has something for everyone — whether you are looking for something on-the-go or something a little fancier, where you can sit down and enjoy a full meal. Disney is also great at catering to nearly every dietary restriction — all you have to do is talk to your waiter or contact the restaurant ahead of time.
While most Disney dining experiences are memorable in a good way, sometimes there is a hiccup. One Guest took to Reddit to talk about a Disneyland dining experience that was more than a hiccup — they called it uncomfortable. In fact, the Guest says that the experience was so uncomfortable, that her party ended up leaving without ordering anything. And their story is quickly going viral.
The restaurant in question is Blue Bayou — one of the most popular restaurants at the Disneyland Resort. Guests love Blue Bayou because it is situated at the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, and Guests can watch the boats go by as they dine on southern fare.
Disney Cast Members are trained to bring magic to each and every Guest. However, according to this Redditor, her waiter made her feel uncomfortable when she shared that she did not want to order an entrée, just a dessert and drinks. Below is the Redditor’s story.
My friend and I managed to snag lunch at Blue Bayou for today and I’ve been super excited for this since I’ve never eaten in there. We planned to go in, get dessert and a drink in place of a full meal since I’ve heard mixed reviews about the food. When we got in our waiter made a comment at first about us just ordering dessert then made us feel really uncomfortable for wanting a glass of wine to go with it, saying they normally only do that for entrees and don’t like people to order just dessert. He said it would be fine this time but for future reference we should know. But it made us feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable that we ended up leaving without getting anything.
Is this normal for this restaurant to only want you to order drinks with entrees and frowning on just getting dessert? I wouldn’t have booked here if I realized that but didn’t see anything when I was booking.
Many Redditors sympathized with the Original Poster (OP), saying that a waiter should not make a diner feel uncomfortable just because they are not ordering a whole meal. Some also felt that maybe a waiter would even be happy because the meal would not take as long, so they could have more Guests and make more money.
i went not too long ago and a table near us only ordered dessert and drinks. the waiter didn’t say anything and actually seemed relieved that that’s all they got because they were so busy. i had a great experience (and my food was great too) and i’m sad you didn’t get to have the same type of experience 🙁 i’m not normally a “can i speak to the manager” person but that definitely would have been a situation where i would have.
Many pointed out that there is no policy on the Disneyland website saying that a Guest will only be served alcohol if they purchase an entrée. Disneyland dropped its COVID policies months ago, and California’s liquor rule no longer requires Guests to order an entrée in order to drink alcohol.
Ride breakdowns are typical at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure – it’s bound to happen when thousands of Guests are boarding each ride every day. Typically, issues are resolved within minutes. But sometimes, Guests must be evacuated.
Seeing backstage areas is a dream for many Disney Parks fans, but it quickly became a nightmare for some Disneyland Resort Guests this week. Dozens of Guests were stuck on Pirates of the Caribbean in New Orleans Square for two hours before Cast Members came to the rescue. @eat.sleep.positivity documented the experience on TikTok:
In the video, a Cast Member wades through the water to manually push boats to a platform, where Disney Security Cast Members help pull visibly relieved Guests off the boats. The Guests didn’t say if they were given Lightning Lanes or any compensation for their experience.
MagicBand+ will make its momentous West Coast debut when it launches at the Disneyland Resort on Oct. 26, 2022. This marks a huge milestone in resort history, as Guests will soon discover for the very first time how this wearable technology will enhance their experience and unlock a new dimension of Disney storytelling at the Happiest Place on Earth.
Eligible Cast members, Magic Key holders and Disney Vacation Club members will have the opportunity to be among the first to purchase MagicBand+ at the Disneyland Resort from select locations and get a first look at its features before the official launch! Starting Oct. 19, select merchandise locations around the Disneyland Resort will have MagicBand+ available for purchase with the presentation of a valid photo ID plus a valid company-issued ID, Disney Vacation Club membership or Magic Key pass. From there, Guests will be able to set up their band and try it out in the parks (valid park admission and reservation required)!
Hands-free convenience and enhanced park experiences
We previously shared how the easy-to-use features of MagicBand+ will provide seamless and hands-free convenience during your visit. With a tap of their band, Guests will be able to enter the Disneyland Resort theme parks (valid park admission and reservation required), easily check in at Lightning Lane entrances (separate Lightning Lane entry required) and link photos from a Disney PhotoPass photographer to their Disney account.
MagicBand+ will also unlock a new dimension of Disney storytelling, coming alive with color-changing LED lights and haptic vibrations during select park experiences and entertainment. For example, Guests may discover MagicBand+ adding surprising and magical touches to certain entertainment at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure Park!
At night, MagicBand+ will dazzle along with nighttime spectaculars as it illuminates and pulses in sync to special moments during “World of Color” in Disney California Adventure Park, “Fantasmic!” in Disneyland Park and other select nighttime shows throughout the year. MagicBand+ will also interact with the two recently announced nighttime spectaculars debuting on January 27, 2023 as part of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder anniversary celebration: “World of Color – One” at Disney California Adventure and “Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland.
At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, Guests will be able to use MagicBand+ to seek virtual bounties hidden across Black Spire Outpost in the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quest. Then, when they find their bounty, they can use the Play Disney Parks app’s augmented reality thermal viewer to reveal who’s hiding in the shadows.
Guests can use MagicBand+ at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, with varying features and experiences between the two destinations . All these features are just the beginning of the fun at the Disneyland Resort – more MagicBand+ innovations and experiences will be introduced in the future.
Stylish assortment of collectible designs
Beginning Oct. 26, MagicBand+ will be available for all Guests to purchase at the following locations:
Downtown Disney District: World of Disney, Disney’s Pin Traders
Disney California Adventure Park: Elias & Co., Trolley Treats, Oswald’s, Seaside Souvenirs
Hotels of the Disneyland Resort: Disney’s Fantasia Shop, Mickey in Paradise, Acorns Gifts & Goods
Both kids and kids-at-heart will enjoy wearing and collecting MagicBand+! It’s size adjustable, and an impressive selection of more than 18 colors and designs will be available at launch, including five prints exclusive to Disneyland Resort. More options featuring favorite Disney characters and stories will continually be added – be on the lookout! While supplies last, Magic Key holders will be able to purchase a specially designed Magic Key band, which even has a unique light-up sequence.
Easy to use, customizable settings and rechargeable battery
Once MagicBand+ is in hand, follow these three simple steps to set it up:
Step 1: Power on MagicBand+ by pressing on the button on the back once and tap the band to the back of your phone.
Step 2: Guests will be directed to open or download the Disneyland app.*
Step 3: Follow the instructions in the Disneyland app to link the MagicBand+ to their Disney account, assign it to their ticket or pass and pair it to their smartphone.
For Guests to enjoy all the available features of MagicBand+, they’ll need a Disney account and the Disneyland app. For more information, visit Disneyland.com or ask a question using the Chat with Us feature on the Disneyland app.
MagicBand+ is also rechargeable, so Guests can use it again and again each time they visit. We recommend charging it overnight with the included USB charging cable, and once fully charged, they can power it off until they’re ready to use it again. Depending on their use, a fully charged battery on MagicBand+ can last between one to three days. For all the Grizzly River Run fans, don’t worry about MagicBand+ getting wet – it’s waterproof!
We’re thrilled to launch MagicBand+ at the Disneyland Resort and cannot wait for Guests to experience the magic when this next-generation technology launches later this month!

Disney Genie+ was introduced just about a year ago, and due to its popularity, Disney is increasing pricing for the service effective immediately. The paid service allows you to schedule times to skip the line and use the Lightning Lane at certain attractions at each of the theme parks.
Here is the statement from Disney:
Disney Genie+ service continues to be very popular among our guests. As we continue to manage the strong demand we are seeing for this service, we are introducing variable pricing for Disney Genie+, beginning Tuesday, October 11.
At Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Genie+ will also vary in price based on the date a guest is visiting. Similar to theme park tickets, throughout the year, prices may be lower on less busy days and higher during peak periods like Thanksgiving and Christmas. For example, now through the end of October, prices will be $15 per Guest, per day on less busy dates, $22 on some of our busier dates, and somewhere in between on other dates (plus tax; prices subject to change beyond October). As a reminder, single-day purchases of Disney Genie+ at Walt Disney World Resort are only available directly through the My Disney Experience app on the guest’s date of visit.
At Disneyland Resort, Disney Genie+ will now be $25 per day when purchased in advance as an add-on with a new ticket or vacation packages. Single-day purchases for Disney Genie+ through the Disneyland app will begin at $25 per day, and may vary by date, based on demand.
Additionally, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure at Disney’s California Adventure Park is now part of Disney Genie+, providing guests with even more options to choose from when using this service.
