This year, the Super Bowl’s winning team did not go to Walt Disney World to celebrate.
With Super Bowl LVII just days away, Disney is preparing for their annual post-game celebration down Main Street, USA. Since 1987, audiences have watched the Super Bowl MVP shout the phrase, “I’m going to Disney World!” This year, after the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles face off on Super Bowl Sunday, that phrase will be different.
Walt Disney World Resort will not be hosting its annual Super Bowl celebrations this year. Instead, it has been announced that Disneyland Resort will host the event for the second year in a row. Disneyland Resort is no stranger to hosting football parades. In addition to hosting MVP Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald, Matthew Stafford, and the rest of the Los Angeles Rams last year, Disneyland Park also hosts the Rose Bowl parade every year.
Nevertheless, Florida football fans will not be getting a Super Bowl parade in the Walt Disney World Parks this year, and some on social media have expressed their disappointment.
User @RealRobGarrison writes, “Omg, I literally spoke to a fam a few weeks ago that planned their trip to FL just so they can be at the parks for the parade 💀💀💀.”
User @Jefflipack writes, “All those “treat Florida fairly” people will not be happy!!”
Many more users express their confusion and disappointment by quote retweeting Disney’s post.
Why Is the Super Bowl Being Celebrated at Disneyland?
Many people are confused as to why the celebration is happening in Disneyland once again. The reasoning: the locations of the stadiums. Last year’s Super Bowl was at SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, so celebrating at Disneyland Park and staying in Southern California made more sense logistically. This year’s game will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, so Disneyland Park was the better choice location-wise. While Walt Disney World Resort locals may be upset, Disneyland locals are rejoicing at this news.
The Disneyland Parade isn’t going to be the only exciting thing happening for Disney football fans. During the game, some brand-new commercials are rumored to be airing. These commercials include one for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Little Mermaid, Elemental, and Guardians of the Galaxy 3. There is also a possibility that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and The Marvels will have teasers as well.
There are so many reasons to be excited about the game this weekend. Whether you are rooting for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs or Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles, this game is sure to be an exciting matchup.
At 4:30 Eastern on Wednesday, February 8, the Walt Disney Company broadcasted a live audio earnings call, during which the first fiscal quarter of the 2023 fiscal year was discussed.
During the call, Disney CEO Bob Iger made some crucial announcements, defined a plan for the Walt Disney Company, and answered questions. He also confirmed that more Avatar content is coming to Disney+ and Disney Parks, including Disneyland.
In the call, CEO Bob Iger stated that James Cameron’s sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), is shaping up to be “one of the most successful films of the quarter.” Not only that, but the Avatar (2009) sequel has also become the “fourth biggest film of all time globally with close to $2.2 billion earned in the box office to date.”
After this, Bob Iger revealed that the massive success and popularity of the movie “will result in the creation of more opportunities for fans to engage with the franchise.”
Over at Walt Disney World Resort, Animal Kingdom has been home to Pandora: the World of Avatar for a few years now. The heavily immersive and themed area is one of Walt Disney World Resort’s most impressive additions, and the popularity of the land has only become more popular due to the release of Avatar: The Way of Water.
Bob Iger also acknowledged this during the earnings call, stating, “They have been doing well at Walt Disney World’s Pandora: World of Avatar, as well as in theaters globally and on Disney+; the first film is delivering very strong numbers.”
Then, Disney CEO Bob Iger made the exciting announcement: “Today, I am thrilled to announce that we will bring an exciting Avatar experience to Disneyland. We will be sharing more details on that very soon.”
Today the Walt Disney Company held its Q1 earnings call to discuss earnings in the first quarter of fiscal year 2023. While CEO Bob Iger didn’t address any new additions or significant updates during the call, he did hint to some pretty remarkable things that are going to make Disney fans (many who have felt left out for a long time) very happy.
Chief among those is that Iger has hinted that there won’t be price increases coming to the domestic parks anytime soon. This was not a direct quote but one could infer it from statements he made including saying that recent price increases, particularly the December increases (which were put in place before Bob Chapek was fired), “alienated a lot of guests”. He went on to say that one of their core beliefs has always been that the Parks should be accessible to most people, even if it is just a once in a lifetime trip. This is a stark departure from the “playground for the rich only” mentality of Bob Chapek. This leads us to strongly believe that we won’t see steep increases in theme park tickets or resort hotels in the near future.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that the Park Pass Reservation system isn’t likely to go away anytime soon, but we already suspected that. Iger reiterated how integral the reduced capacity in the domestic parks has been for the guest experience. Though he again left cryptic hints about what could be on the horizon saying he is “working with Josh D’Amaro to bring franchises in to increase park capacity without sacrificing guest satisfaction.” He went on to say that they won’t increase capacity without cause but specifically mentioned park additions as means to increase capacity. He cited the Pandora the World of Avatar and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge additions and related them to increased peak attendance. Those statements coupled with the blue sky ideas pitched at D23 lead us to believe a new land or addition is coming soon!
All in all this was the most positive we have felt from an earnings call in a long time. Big things seem to be on the horizon and while Bob Iger wasn’t exactly forthcoming with details, he gave enough information to leave us very excited about what is to come. We will, of course, watch these developments closely and bring you updates as they occur.

Disney Parks could be close to a total ban on all Influencers after a video of an incident involving a Guest and contraband materials went viral online.
Since Walt Disney opened Disneyland Park in 1955, Guests have enjoyed documenting their visits to the Disney Parks using personal cameras. As a result, Disney even began to provide designated photo locations sponsored by camera retailers like Kodak and offer professional PhotoPass photographers for select photo ops and character meet-and-greets.
However, with the rise of cellphone cameras, Go-Pro filming equipment, and social media platforms, souvenir mementos have become a mass market ripe for content creation. In fact, Disney “influencers” have developed a niche of curated content, building their brands by visiting Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort.
For example, YouTube is rife with ride-through videos filmed by Guests while onboard an attraction and Disney fans have devoted their lives and wallets to capturing the newest and exciting takes for Instagram and TikTok accounts. In particular, a recent incident went viral after one Guest broke Disney Park safety regulations to smuggle in contraband materials for a “perfect shot.”
A video of the Guest posted to TikTok by @thenostalgiclatino gained worldwide attention after fans noticed she had snuck illegal fireworks into the theme park. In the video, you can see the Guest standing before Sleeping Beauty Castle during the Disney 100 Anniversary Celebration at the Disneyland Resort, which celebrates one hundred years of the Walt Disney Company:
The influencer holds what appears to be a cake styled after Mickey Mouse’s signature red trousers, complete with a lit sparkler on top in lieu of a candle. People stare as the Guest, wearing a matching red dress, white boots, and Minnie Mouse ears poses before the Castle until a Disney Cast Member approaches the scene, gesturing for the Guest to stop blocking the walkway and put out the active firework.
Moreover, you can hear the Guest Relations Cast Member (in plaid) tell the offending Guest, “You have to put that out, and I’m going to get security.” Of course, the open flame poses a safety risk to Disney Park Guests and violates Disneyland Resort rules, which prohibit “fireworks or other similarly explosive and/or flammable objects, smoke machines or fog machines.”
Although no one has identified the so-called Disney Influencer yet, plenty more Park personalities would have been easily recognizable to many Disney lovers active in fan spaces online were they to pull a similar stunt. However, as this Guest was likely escorted from the Park at best and banned for life at worst, we don’t recommend their methods to garner online fame.
If similar behavior continues to inconvenience other Park-goers and Disney Cast Members, a full-out ban on live streaming, filming, and personal photography devices could go into effect soon.
