One of our favorite things to do when visiting WDW is to find a pair of mickey ears for our daughter. Awhile back, we wrote about the new designer Mickey ears that were going to be coming available at Disney Parks.
Here are some of the recently released options. These headbands were designed by notable celebrities, artists, and designers.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney has attractions grouped into two different tier groups. Guests can only select one attraction from Tier 1 and two Tier 2 attractions. Unfortunately, at Hollywood Studios, Disney has now moved almost every ride into Tier 1. See the new groupings below.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios FastPass+ Tier 1
Rock ‘n Roller Coaster Alien Swirling Saucers Slinky Dog Dash Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Toy Story Mania
Disney’s Hollywood Studios FastPass+ Tier 2
Star Tours Frozen Sing-Along Disney Junior Dance Party! Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular Muppet Vision 3D Voyage of the Little Mermaid FANTASMIC!
When Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run opens with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge in late August, there will not be any Fastpasses available for this ride. It is hopeful that once Rise of the Resistance opens later this year, that Fastpasses will be made available for both Galaxy’s Edge rides.
The opening of Galaxy’s Edge is now within the 60 day window that resort guests get to make their Fastpass selections, hence the changes being made to the different tiers.
FastPasses for Slinky Dog Dash will likely continue to be the hardest one to get.
For those who have ever been to Walt Disney World, you know that one of the more frustrating things about it is the transportation. Disney has made this frustration a priority to change for guests.
Several modes of transportation are available at the parks and the resorts. These can range from buses, monorails, boats, Minnie vans, and finally, the latest mode of transportation; the Disney Skyliner.
With the Skyliner set to open this year, Disney has now turned their attention to updating their bus line.
This month, Walt Disney World buses are taking on a new look, adorned with the sensational six: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto. From the red and yellow colors of Mickey’s attire, to the iconic Minnie polka dots and the pastel hues of Daisy.
You will also enjoy refreshed interiors that include brand new blue seats and laminate floors. Some Walt Disney World buses will also have USB charging ports conveniently located between seats throughout, so you can stay in touch with family and friends and keep your cameras ready to capture every minute of your dream vacation.
For awhile now, it has been known that Epcot was going to be the next park to get a major overhaul. After the opening of Pandora at Animal Kingdom and the recent addition to Hollywood Studios of Toy Story Land and the upcoming opening of Galaxy’s Edge, Epcot was the next to receive updates and additions.
While details on what further plans for the park are scheduled to be released at the upcoming D23 Expo next month, Disney has confirmed a significant list of closures in preparation for the transformation that will see essentially an entire section of the park closed this fall.
As part of the major redevelopment of the entrance and Fountains of Nations area of Future World ahead of the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, Disney has announced closings of several locations in that area. The Leave a Legacy monuments have already begun to be removed from the entrance and demolition has started.
Here is a list of closings below:
On September 8, The Fountains of Nations, Colortopia, Innoventions East, and Nanooze Break will close.
Fountain View, the park’s Starbucks location, will be moved to a temporary location later this fall.
This winter the Electric Umbrella is scheduled to close.
Also this winter, Mouse Gear will move to a temporary location while the current space will be reimagined.
Art of Disney will be moved temporarily to a new location while that location is being refurbished.
The Camera Center will close this fall to become the new home for Pin Central.
Club Cool will be closing and will be relocated.
As the redevelopment is in the works many character greetings are being relocated. Character Spot will close on September 8. The characters will relocate as follow:
Minnie Mouse will move to the World Showcase Gazebo.
Daisy Duck will move to the American Adventure.
Mickey and Goofy in a temporary Innoventions West area, but with an all-new location to be in the Imagination! pavilion.
The location for Joy is still to be determined.
A location for Baymax has not been announced.
Winnie the Pooh will be returning to the United Kingdom pavilion.
So what would be better than being at Disney World on the 4th of July? Now that’s the best of both worlds.
Here are some of the things that can be seen/done on this upcoming July 4th at WDW;
Magic Kingdom Park – Park Hours: July 3, 8 a.m.-12 a.m.; July 4, 8 a.m.-1 a.m.
“Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” offers booming fireworks orchestrated to patriotic melodies showering the Magic Kingdom sky on both July 3 and July 4 at 9:15 p.m. Guests can also dance the night away with DJs spinning tunes at a Hoedown Throwdown in Frontierland and an out-of-this-world Galactic Gathering in Tomorrowland. Fans at home can join in the Independence Day celebration by viewing a special July 4 live stream of the dazzling fireworks display on the Disney Parks Blog.
A fuzzy cast of Muppets – Miss Piggy, Kermit, Fozzie Bear and friends – reenact famous moments in American history in a whimsical way during “The Muppets Present … Great Moments in History.”The live show is performed several times daily near the Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square.
Epcot – Park Hours: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
“IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will end its nearly 20-year run on September 30, 2019. So this will be the last chance to experience the patriotic Fourth of July grand finale of this beloved nighttime spectacular. “The Heartbeat of Freedom” fireworks extravaganza will begin immediately following the 9 p.m. “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” display.
A cappella vocal group Voices of Liberty will perform great American tunes during a Fourth of July concert on the America Gardens Theatre stage at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. on July 4. The group also will perform in the rotunda inside The American Adventure pavilion at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Guests can meet favorite Disney characters donning their “Spirit of ’76” patriotic attire at The American Adventure throughout the day on July 4.
Guests can indulge in themed eats and sips honoring Independence Day throughout the park – everything from patriotic cupcakes and special dining packages to red, white, and blue sangria and a Boom Berry Lemonade.
