TIME Names Galaxy’s Edge One of the Greatest Places in The World

Disney Parks Blog shared an exciting announcement today! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been named one of TIME Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places for 2019. The list is completed annually and recognizes 100 destinations around the world that are ” breaking new ground, leading industry trends and offering guests an experience that’s unlike any other.”

Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened on May 31st, 2019 at Disneyland Resort, there has already been over 1 million guests that have visited! The expansion is the largest single-themed land in Disney Parks’ history. It is easy to see why the land has become such a guest favorite.

According to Disney Parks Blog, “TIME Magazine measured the land across quality, originality, innovation, sustainability and influence, and as we countdown to the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World Resort on Aug. 29, we look forward to giving even more of our guests the opportunity to explore the experience-based storytelling of this one-of-a-kind land.”

Beatrix at Disney Springs

Disney Springs has become a massive shopping paradise with lots of store to peruse through. However, it’s dining options may be the thing that has made it an even better place to spend a few hours or half a day. With six award winning, chef-owned locations, there is definitely amazing food to be had. Beatrix is the next great restaurant to come to the Disney “Mall”.

According to Disney Parks Blog;

Beatrix, owned by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises (a Chicago-based restaurant group), will open their first restaurant in Florida at Disney Springs West Side. Beatrix is your neighborhood restaurant, coffeehouse and grab-and-go market featuring healthy food options including vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan along with fresh-squeezed juice cocktails. The restaurant will also offer a bakery and full-service bar with a selection of all-American beer and wine. Executive Partner and Divisional President, Marc Jacobs, explains “Beatrix represents the way people are eating today – it’s that mix of health and comfort. Whether grabbing a cup of coffee and your favorite pastry, or having a cocktail, lunch, or dinner with friends, it’s your neighborhood meeting place.”

“Rise of The Resistance” Ride Dates Announced

Galaxy’s Edge, which is set to open in Walt Disney World on August 29th and opened in Disneyland in May was always scheduled to open in two phases. The first phase opened with the ride “Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run”. However, the long awaited ride “Rise of The Resistance” never had a date set to it for its debut. Now that wait is over!

According the DisneyParksBlog;

“We’ve got some exciting news to share today with the galaxy. We’re opening Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Dec. 5 at Walt Disney World Resort. If this date sounds familiar, many of our fans will recognize it as Walt Disney’s birthday. What better way to honor the ultimate storyteller than by introducing the most immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined in a Disney Park.

When it opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base. Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren.

As soon as work is completed at Walt Disney World, Imagineers will head back to California to complete their mission at Disneyland Resort where Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open on Friday, Jan. 17.”
