Policy Changes Go Into Effect Today At WDW!

Today, May 1st, new policies will go into effect that could effect how you are able to enter a Walt Disney World park. It was announced last month that smoking, wagons, and oversized strollers would be banned from the parks.

Visitors who wish to smoke or vape will no longer be able to do so and the smoking ban also extends to Disney’s shopping districts: Downtown Disney in California and Disney Springs in Florida.

In March, Disney said they had planned to handle smoking enforcement on the operational side by having employees politely ask people to light up outside the parks. Disney doesn’t plan to punish visitors if they are caught breaking the rules.

Stroller wagons, which are big enough to haul children and visitors’ belongings, are also no longer allowed. The parks have the stroller guidelines posted so people can see if theirs fits the new size requirements — which can’t be larger than 31″ (79cm) wide and 52″ (132cm) long.

“The good news – many strollers on the market, including many double jogging strollers, fit within these size guidelines,” Disney said in a post in March.

Another new rule is visitors can no longer bring dry or loose ice in their coolers, which Disney said was needed to streamline the bag check process.

PizzeRizzo to Re-open May 4th

PizzeRizzo was one of the newer quick service dining locations at Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.  It was re-branded as PizzeRizzo in the location that used to be Pizza Planet, themed after the arcade from Toy Story.

When PizzeRizzo closed for refurbishment, there was rumor that the dining location may not open again, but that ended up not being true.  There has been confirmation that PizzeRizzo will be opening to guests starting on May 4th, 2019.

The original menu is set to return, including a new dessert, the Peanut Butter & Jelly Verrine.  This dessert is made with layers of peanut butter cream and grape jelly which is then topped with chopped peanut butter candies in a verrine cup.

The location will be open for lunch and dinner from May 4th through May 24th and then starting on May 25th, it will only be open for lunch services.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Announcement and Update

Yesterday, Disney gave some exciting news about the new attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, but it also gave some fans who are pumped for this new attraction some disappointing news.

Disney has confirmed that the new Mickey themed ride will also be coming to Disneyland’s Toontown sometime in 2022. While this is great news for those who visit the west coast theme park, those who frequent the Walt Disney World theme park received some disappointing news regarding this attraction that was supposed to open in the Fall of 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Also in the same announcement, Disney stated that HS’s version of the Railway will not come until Spring of 2020.

It’s hard to believe that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be the first Mickey Mouse themed attraction at any of Disney’s theme parks.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway puts guests into a cartoon short featuring the head mouse. It will feature the newest technology known as 2 and a half D (3D without glasses) to give depth to the 2D environments.

Guests will board a train where Goofy is the engineer and will take the riders on a zany adventure full of twists and turns through the cartoon short.

Stay tuned for new updates of this and all things Disney @ A Walk With The Mouse!
