Update on Space 220

Welcome to the future of Epcot, where you can dine in space, with views of Earth from 220 miles away. We got more details on the Space 220 restaurant during the Parks Panel at D23, including the official name and logo, as well as a glimpse at some of the concept art.

The new restaurant is sure to be an out-of-this-world dining experience at Epcot, with an opening of sometime this winter 2019. Since winter is just around the corner, let’s take a look at the progress we can see so far.

The restaurant is located towards the back of Mission: Space, near Test Track.

It will be interesting to see what this looks like when it’s complete.

Space 220 is still set for a Winter 2019 opening.

WDW Changes Preferred Booking Method For Dining Reservations

Disney has long stated that the preferred method for booking an advanced dining reservation was calling the Disney Reservation Center. However, snuck into a Disney Parks Blog post today, they stated that the preferred method is now the My Disney Experience App and DisneyWorld.com.

From the Disney:

With hundreds of amazing dining locations to choose from, finding the perfect place to eat at Walt Disney World Resort is easier than ever before. From mobile ordering meals through the My Disney Experience app, to searching for favorite menu items online, guests are able to save time so that they can enjoy all there is to see and do across our parks. Beginning today, due to their overwhelming popularity, the My Disney Experience app and DisneyWorld.com will become the preferred home for booking and modifying table service dining reservations.

Guests can conveniently manage their table service dining reservations right at their fingertips, whenever they choose, alongside other plans they make with family and friends for their visit. Rest assured, as always, cast members at the Disney Reservation Center will continue to be available to help with reservations for groups of eight or more, same-day cancelations, in addition to other assistance guests may need, including Disney Resort hotel reservations, special offers, general questions and more.

Dining reservations could always be done on the website and the app, but Disney is pushing guests to the digital formats to reduce the strain on staffing at the reservation center. Guests can still call for “help with reservations for groups of eight or more, same-day cancelations, in addition to other assistance guests may need”.

Plant-Based Menu Options At Hollywood Studios

Guests who follow plant-based diets (or simply those looking to eat lighter or avoid animal products) now have a ton of new options to nosh on while at the Magic Kingdom. As previously announced, Walt Disney World has rolled out a new plant-based (vegan) icon along all of its menus, making it easier for guests to pick out what to eat. Along with the new icon are even more new plant-based food offerings.

Check out all the new menus at Disney’s Hollywood Studios featuring the little leaf of plant-based approval, complete with pricing and lists of what’s vegan, below. As always, offerings like popcorn, veggie plates, and fruit cups remain as plant-based offerings on many menus, so you’ll see a few of those snack mainstays here as well.
