Walt Disney World is now hiring! As we all dig our way out of this pandemic one day at a time, it’s very exciting to see that Walt Disney World has put out a hiring notice for Cast Members in attractions, custodial, merchandise and quick service.

The positions of “Attractions/Custodial/Merchandise/Quick Service Foods- Part Time” was listed on DisneyCareers yesterday, April 24. Disney notes: “As Cast Member working in either Attractions, Custodial, Merchandise or Quick Service Foods you will have opportunities to create memories across property working locations unique to the Walt Disney World Resort Parks and Resorts.” Pay rates start at $14.00 per hour and may vary depending on the role offered.

Disney Is Hiring a Fireworks & Special Effects Principal Designer

The Fireworks & Special Effects Principal Designer serves as the creative leader and overall representative for the Disney Live Entertainment Fireworks & Special Effects Design department. The demands of this role require an in-depth understanding of the design intent and the ability for realizing it through the effective execution of the creative process. As the leader, the Fireworks & Special Effects Principal Designer directs all special effects design (including pyrotechnics), helping to prioritize, organize and problem solve during entire course of a project.

Core Function and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project’s creative development including blue sky brainstorming, project kick-offs, internal reviews and other project specific check-ins
  • Develop and/or execute special effects designs for live shows and facility infrastructure when required
  • Direct the Special Effects Designers’ plan and execution for new shows and remounts
  • Be an engaged leader of special effects technology research and development efforts participating as necessary with other Company technology divisions
  • Partner in design scope development and staffing to ensure assignments are “right fit” and that the needs of the projects will be creatively satisfied
  • Provide creative and feasibility input to show concept; review and approve project special effects budgets and labor requirements
  • Act as liaison for Special Effects/Pyrotechnics Designers and vendors ensuring Disney quality, compatibility, training and proper documentation of all special effects services delivered
  • Be a resource to maintain the proper training of operating area special effects/pyrotechnics Technicians
  • Direct on-going “Entertainment Show Quality” evaluations of existing offerings at Walt Disney World and provide support to maintain their original show intent
  • Maintain a strong relationship with fireworks compound, safety, purchasing, vendors and interface with governmental agencies in approving/permitting effects uses by Walt Disney World
  • Demonstrate commitment to both on-going personal and departmental education for Walt Disney World and industry standards
  • Maintain up-to-date show documentation, special effects R&D lab and talent/industry contact database
  • Leadership Skills:
  • Effectively orchestrate activities and team dynamics
  • Persuasive advocate for good design and a steadying influence for the team
  • Natural collaborative ability to make sense out of diverse multidisciplinary requirements and to bring the project goals into focus for everyone involved
  • Working member of the Design team with a natural inclination to generate ideas and the ability to do so with great fluency
  • Ability to research and present design options so that the team can make informed decisions that ultimately give the project greater depth

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the Entertainment Industry working in show development and operation of live shows
  • Strong understanding of current technology and industry standards for all aspects of special effects and pyrotechnics design, (theatrical, industrial, concert, touring, etc.) as applied to live show and facility systems
  • Proven ability to support the creative process by collaborating with other Designers, Directors, Writers and Producers
  • Strong understanding and experience in contract negotiations for Consultants to develop scope and value
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards and regulations (NFPA 1123, 1126, 160 APA 87-1)
  • Experience with facility design, engineering and construction
  • Proven ability to deliver on a project’s established scope, schedule and budget
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express creative ideas
  • Ability to work flexible hours – nights, weekends and holidays – including occasional travel
  • General computer skills including basic Microsoft Office products and industry specific software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in live show development with The Walt Disney Company
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Walt Disney culture

Required Education:

College degree or equivalent experience in theatre with focus on special effects/pyrotechnics design

Walt Disney World is Hiring a Hotel Services Director for Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

The Walt Disney Company is hiring a Hotel Services Director for the brand new Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel at Walt Disney World. A job listing was posted today on disneycareers.com. The new immersive resort is set to open sometime this year, at least last we heard.

The perfect candidate is a seasoned hotelier with at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience.

Job Summary:

Disney is searching for a seasoned hotelier with senior leadership hospitality experience on land or at sea to serve as Hotel Services Director for our new Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. As a Hotel Services Director you will lead and implement a unique immersive two-night experience aligned with our Star Wars franchise. A passion for bringing ideas to life, creativity, value a non-traditional work environment, and balance traditional hotel experience with immersive entertainment are all important traits you will need to have to be successful in this role. If selected, you will report to the Regional General Manager – Hotel Operations.

Walt Disney World Is Hiring Full Time Bus Drivers

After much uncertainty and massive layoffs, we’re excited to see Walt Disney World is now seeking full time bus drivers for their transportation department. If you have what it takes, you could be taking Disney fans to and from some of the most magical places on earth. 

As shared on DisneyCareers: The Walt Disney World® Resort is recruiting Transportation Bus Drivers who are positive, dependable and focused on maintaining the safety of our guests as they travel throughout multiple routes within our parks and resorts. As a part of our passionate team, you would be expected to observe Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and other state and local traffic laws, and meet Department of Transportation Physical Standards.

A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is not necessary to be considered for the Transportation Bus Driver role, but will be required if hired into the role. If selected, you will receive paid training to obtain your CDL and the cost of the CDL will be reimbursed by the company. Candidates must obtain/have a valid Florida Driver’s License to begin the CDL process.

Norway & Germany Cultural Representative Programs Now Accepting Applications For Positions Starting In August

If Disney Internships & Programs’ recent announcement regarding temporary suspensions had you a little concerned, you are not alone. Alas, have no fear… the show will go on! Disney Careers is now accepting submissions for their highly-acclaimed Norway Cultural Representative Program and Germany Cultural Representative Program at the EPCOT World Showcase. Throughout this one-year work experience, participants are afforded the opportunity to share their culture and customs with visitors from all over the world. Positions are scheduled to start between August and November 2020, however do note that this is not indicative of a potential reopening date.

There are eight independent participant companies that have contracts with Disney, selected for the exceptional talents that they offer from their home countries. Cultural Representatives working in these areas are employees of the Operating Participant company. However, they are still considered a part of Disney International Programs.

Norway Cultural Representative Program

Basic Qualifications:

  • To be eligible to apply, you MUST:
  • Speak English fluently.
  • Be at least 18 years of age to apply.
  • Be able to authentically represent Norway.
