Fans patiently waiting for the new Jungle Cruise movie will now be able to take the journey at home, as star Dwayne Johnson announced the film will be available on Disney+ Premier Access beginning July 30th, the same day it docks in theaters.
Johnson made the announcement ahead of Disney’s second quarter earnings call.
As the world slowly recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney has made Premier Access available on several of its upcoming films for Disney+ subscribers not yet ready to head back to movie theaters. The one-time fee allows subscribers to view the movie at the same time it’s in theaters for several months before it becomes available for all Disney+ subscribers. Jungle Cruise is just the latest to join the lineup, with Premier Access already announced for Cruella and Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, both releasing later this summer.
Today Marvel put out a video with Tom Hiddleston explaining that “Wednesdays are the new Fridays”. The show will move up the original premiere date from Friday, June 11th to Wednesday, June 9th, 2021.
Historically, other Marvel and Disney+ original series have debuted on Fridays.
Disney and Pixar have worked up a new film called “Luca” that we’re all impatiently waiting to release this summer! This new comedy-fantasy film was originally set to be released in theaters on June 18, but instead Disney has announced it will be released on Disney+ with no extra charge. The newest trailer has been released.
As shared via Pixar YouTube: “This summer, you’re invited to Portorosso. Watch the new trailer for Disney and Pixar’s Luca and see the film June 18 on Disney+.”
This seaside town called Portorosso, is the perfect place for Luca and his best friend, Alberto, to enjoy their land legs. The trick will be keeping the fact that they are sea monsters a secret! Mark those calendars for June 18 Disney fans, as this will be a fun one for the whole family.
Emilia Clarke, known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, is in final talks to join the cast of Marvel’s Secret Invasion series coming to Disney+.
Clarke will join a cast of Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Colman. Jackson is reprising his role of Nick Fury and Mendelsohn is reprising his Captain Marvel role of Talos. Ben-Adir will play the film’s villain. Colman and Clarke’s roles have not yet been announced. Kyle Bradstreet is writing and executive producing the series.
Secret Invasion is about a sect of shape-shifting Skrulls who have infiltrated Earth. There is no announced release date.
Although The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be wrapping up its short run in April, there will still be plenty to watch on Disney+ come May.
