Progress On The TRON Lightcycle Run is Continuing

We have attempted to keep up with the progress of TRON Lightcycle Run. The enormous construction site stretches from Space Mountain all the way to Goofy’s Barnstormer, so it’s hard to miss. This is a coaster that will travel in and out of a large show building. It will also make a large circle outside the show building under a large open-air illuminated canopy. We now have found some of the first structural signs of that canopy.

The large, rust-colored pillars will serve as supports for the large undulated roof of TRON Lightcycle Run.

This will be one of the hallmark attractions for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

Grand Floridian Walkway To Magic Kingdom Construction Update

Work is coming along on the pathway that will allow guests to walk from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and the Magic Kingdom. Let’s take a look and see what’s been happening!

Now that one of the drawbridges between the resort and the park has been tested in the “closed” position, work on connecting the bridge to the path has begun in earnest, as they begin to build what looks like a kind of ramp that will lead guests onto the bridge.

The bridges will open and close in the evenings to allow the floats of the Electrical Water Pageant to enter and exit the Seven Seas Lagoon.

In time, all this work will be done, and getting between Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and the Magic Kingdom will be easier than ever.

Construction on Epcot Tram Loop & Security Screening Area

While the new tram loop leading up to the front of Walt Disney World’s EPCOT park has been completed, work continues beyond some green construction walls nearby.

The work is visible from the monorail and the monorail platforms. At the moment, what can be seen is mostly just large patches of flattened dirt behind the green walls with materials and pieces scattered about.

To one side, pieces of a new sidewalk are visible and it looks like the sidewalk will continue on up to the entrance of the park, through a new security checkpoint for this side.

Stay tuned for continuing updates on this project at EPCOT.

Construction Update: Tron Roller Coaster

Get ready to escape into the mainframe with TRON Lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom! Yesterday, the first few pieces of track got installed, and overnight, it seems more pieces were also added. Let’s see what the software engineers have made progress on so far.

You can see how the launch portion (down by the lower right-hand side of the photo) then leads right into a curve that takes guests up and around the illuminated outer canopy portion of the ride. This section comes straight out from the show building, up overhead past guests entering and leaving the ride, and into the main show building.

For a look into what the completed attraction will look like, check out this video of its sister attraction, the TRON Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster:
