Disney Character Refuses to Write Autograph for Guest

Via DisDining.com

When it comes to visiting Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort alike, some of the most exciting memories to be made come from meeting beloved characters.

In both Disney Resorts, professional character performers portray Disney characters, bringing them to life and creating magical memories. The Disney Princesses, such as Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), both the animated and live-action versions of Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid, and Princess Tiana are just some of the characters Guests can meet.

Occasionally, the Disney Princesses and other Disney characters will wander around the theme park instead of staying in one spot for a meet-and-greet. But the rules can be different for different kinds of character interactions.

Recently, one influencer accused a Disney Princess of refusing to give her an autograph when she met her in the Disney Park, even though she was celebrating her birthday. However, there is likely more to the story than this.

In this video, we can see Princess Jasmine interacting with the influencer and her children, greeting them as usual. However, as the influencer holds out her autograph book, Princess Jasmine pointedly avoids looking at it or moving toward it.

Instead, she looks toward the character attendant Cast Member, who steps in and refuses for her. If you look closely, you can see that the Cast Member also explains something to the influencer.

While it’s not explained in the video, we know exactly what’s going on.

As stated earlier, the rules for character interactions are very specific and didn’t allow for an autograph in this case. Characters can only give autographs during meet-and-greet attractions, not while they’re simply walking around, as it gives other Guests unfair advantages.

However, Disney characters are also unable to outright refuse anything as it may ruin the magic, which is why the Cast Member stepped in.

While the influencer claims that Princess Jasmine signed an autograph for another Guest right before this video was taken, it’s incredibly unlikely.

This Magical Moment Between Mickey and a Grieving Family

Disney World means many things to many people. For some, it’s just a theme park. To others, it’s escapism. Many call it home. And then, for others, it’s a place to process grief. I myself have grieved loss at Disney and know firsthand its heart-healing powers. One family on TikTok recently discovered this as well.

The family of Rayne Straaseley shared a video of their recent trip to Walt Disney World, but this was no ordinary vacation. Rayne passed away last September after, as her “Aunt Juju” (Jules) put it, “a rough go in her small time on Earth.” Her aunt went on to explain, “She’s been in and out of the ICU multiple times, eats from a feeding tube in her tummy, and has a plethora of medical machines and equipment to help her live her daily life. At this time, there is no umbrella diagnosis for us to understand why these things are happening to her.”

For what should have been Rayne’s 7th birthday, she and her mother took a photo of Rayne to Disney World to meet her favorite characters. This alone is enough to reduce a grown adult to tears, but a video shared to TikTok of Rayne meeting Mickey Mouse was one of the most touching Disney moments I’ve ever seen.

First, Mickey took a napkin and made a blanket for Rayne because he didn’t want her to the cold. Then he waved at the photo and kissed it. He spent time with both Rayne’s mom and aunt, tenderly touching his face to there’s, telling them not to cry. Then he led the family in singing happy birthday to Rayne in a moment they will never forget.

The touching video went viral and got the attention of the official account for @DisneyParks, who weighed in: “Mickey always knows how to put a smile on our face 🥹 Sending you lots of love and pixie dust 🫶”

Disney (and Mickey) proves once again that “no matter how your heart is grieving if you keep on believing…a dream that you wish will come true.” You can watch the full TikTok videos here and here.

Police Dispatched to Magic Kingdom, Character Under Investigation

Police were dispatched to Walt Disney World Resort following an incident that led to a character being under investigation.

When visiting Disney World, Guests are treated to all kinds of immersive and fun activities. From classic attractions to entertainment offerings to dining experiences, there’s something for everyone to enjoy when visiting the Disney Parks & Resorts.

Of course, one of the most popular activities– outside of rides– that Disney World Guests enjoy is meeting their favorite characters in meet-and-greets. Disney World has an unmatched number of characters throughout the day in its Parks, ready to meet Guests. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, and Daisy Duck, as well as many others, including your favorite Disney princesses, Pixar pals, and animated heroes. When visiting characters, Disney Park Guests can get photos– which can be downloaded on Disney PhotoPass— and spend time sharing a few words with them.

While many of these meet-and-greets produce the best family photos, it seems that one did not go as many would have wanted. As a matter of fact, it resulted in the police being called to the scene.

Florida Politics’ Gabrielle Russo was the first to report that Orange County Sheriff’s Office was called to Magic Kingdom Park to investigate Tigger after an alleged incident at the Crystal Palace Restaurant in the Disney Park. A 40-year-old travel agent and the travel agency’s owner filed a complaint against Tigger after they shared they believed the Disney character was “acting off.” The agency owner said she saw Tigger’s hand slide down and touch the 40-year-old’s rear end and make a laughing gesture. She captured the moment on video, according to the report.

“As she goes to take the picture, Tigger’s hand comes off of her shoulder, almost at falling speed. His arm goes in the direction of her buttocks but from the angle of the video it’s not completely clear if he touches her buttocks as his arm falls,” the report said.

The two wanted Tigger to be prosecuted, but after an investigation, the Orange County Sheriff Department ruled in favor of Tigger, who remains nameless because he was not charged with any crime.

The 22-year-old said he “cannot see anything below the upper chest level while looking straight, and cannot see anything beyond approximately 30 degrees on either side of him.”

One character attendant described the travel agent as “handsy.”

“They kept touching his tail and making inappropriate comments. Upon getting to table 36 Tigger was bouncing and dancing and having fun with the Guests,” the report said.

This, unfortunately, isn’t the first time that the police have been dispatched to any of the Disney Parks, including Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT. One of the most prominent incidents happened last year when families brawled inside Fantasyland in the shadows of Cinderella Castle. Of course, in that case, several arrests were made.

Disney Princess Gives Emergency Signal

One of the most magical parts of visiting Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort is meeting your favorite Disney character or Disney princess.

While meeting with a Disney princess or Disney character can be an unforgettable experience, there are also rules in place to ensure that both Guests and Cast Members are safe during the encounters.

YouTubers Cody Ko and Noel Miller’s recently welcomed Twitch streamer QTCinderella– real name Blaire– onto their Tiny Meat Gang (TMG) podcast. During the interview, she revealed that it wasn’t working with the kids that became the difficult part of working at Disneyland Resort.

“You have a zone, and you can’t be out there for too long because you get overheated obviously and kids are aggressive.” she said via quotes in Screenshot Media. But as Ko and Miller are heard laughing in the background, hinting at how awful it sounds to work with children all day long, QTCinderella added, “It’s actually not the kids.”

She shared that the “worst part is the dads.”

“As a princess, if a dad grabs your a**… “You’re taking a photo with the whole family, they will just—,” finishing her sentence with a motion of her hand grabbing ‘something’ harshly.

The Twitch streamer shared that Cast Members aren’t allowed to break character and, so she had an emergency signal that was to let her escorts know when something went wrong.

“Mine was talking about Lucifer—Cinderella’s step mom’s cat. I would just randomly start bringing up Lucifer and they would pull me out of the situation. But if your a** is being grabbed, you can’t be like ‘Stop’ because Cinderella would not say stop…” “That sounded so bad but you know, you’re playing a character, you can’t just ruin the child’s experience by telling their dad to stop grabbing your a**.”

She then went on to explain that there was one instance of a “repeat offender” who had become known for grabbing Disney princesses around the Park and attempting to kiss them. This particular individual was kicked out of Disneyland following their behavior.

Please remember when visiting the Disney Parks to always show the utmost respect Cast Members, including the actors and actresses portraying your favorite Disney character.

Disney Characters Bring Magic to Stranded Hotel Guests

On September 28, Hurricane Ian hit Central Florida as a Category 1 hurricane. There were strong winds, flash flooding, and power outages across the area — including at the Walt Disney World Resort. While some Guests had managed to get out of town before the storm hit, other Guests decided to stay and ride out the storm, while others found themselves stranded at the Most Magical Place on Earth because all Orlando airports were closed.

Because of Hurricane Ian, Disney shut down its theme parks on September 28 and September 29 — and may extend it to September 30 — so Guests staying on property were stuck in their hotels. However, Disney still wanted to make sure they had the most magical time possible.

Enter some classic Disney characters.

Multiple Guests took to social media to share pictures and videos of the characters that came out to interact with Guests in the lobby area of various Disney World hotels.

Wilderness Lodge was not the only place Disney characters were spotted. Disney’s All-Star Sports saw Goofy, Max, Chip, and Dale sitting down with Guests to enjoy a movie.

Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck were seen hosting another dance party at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, much to the delight of Guests.

In addition to closing the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom, Disney also closed Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney Springs. Disney Springs was originally scheduled to reopen on September 29, but Disney chose to keep it closed.
