Disney College Program Cast Members Back at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World recently announced they are welcoming back the Disney College Program which was on hold in 2020 due to COVID. The College Program is a national internship program operated by the Disney Programs division of The Walt Disney Company. The program recruits college students (ages 18 and older) of all majors for a semester-long paid internship program working in the parks and resorts.

The first wave of Disney College Program students arrived at their new housing a couple of week ago, and now, they are back among the Cast Members at Walt Disney World! Disney Parks TikTok celebrated the occasion by taking time to welcome Tobin as shown in the video below:

Disney Cast Members Celebrate Reopening Of Two Restaurants

Two popular restaurants recently reopened and the fantastic Cast Members are celebrating. We previously shared the news that Tusker House reopened on June 20, with Casey’s Corner not far behind on June 30. Well, Cast Members returning to these restaurants are all smiles about the reopening!

As shared via Walt Disney World Cast and Community Facebook: “From swinging baseball bats to swinging through the jungle, our Cast are keeping busy! Recently, they welcomed guests back to two of our favorite dining locations, Casey’s Corner and Tusker House Restaurant. We can’t thank these awesome Cast Members enough for all the magical moments – and delicious food – they serve up each day.”

Special Thanks to Two Exceptional Cast Members

Jeff Vahle, the President of Walt Disney World Resort, took to social media to share a special thanks to two exceptional Cast Members that we have personally enjoyed following along with on social media over the the past year plus. While last year was probably one of the most difficult for Cast Members in all of Disney’s history, this Ambassador duo was a breath of fresh air, and kept us all smiling!

As shared by @jeffvahle Instagram: “Before we announce the 2022-2023 Walt Disney World Ambassador team next week, I want to give Marilyn West and Stephen Lim my heartfelt thanks. They helped open so many new experiences, from Gran Destino Tower and Disney Skyliner, to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway; they supported the Central Florida community and Disney VoluntEARS; and their never-ending enthusiasm for our Cast Members shines through in all they do! Marilyn and Stephen’s optimism and positivity was especially needed during the difficult times of the last year, and I’m so proud of them for that. They truly embody the spirit of our Cast and this resort, and will continue to do so as they help our new Ambassadors learn the ropes. On behalf of everyone here at Walt Disney World, THANK YOU!”

Walt Disney World Offering $1000 Signing Bonus to New Cast Members

Walt Disney World is now offering a signing bonus to new housekeeping and kitchen Cast Members.

Disney, like many companies, is struggling to find employees post-COVID. In an attempt to recruit new workers, Walt Disney World is offering a $1000 signing bonus to housekeeping staff and line cooks if they stay on the job for at least 90 days.

The hourly pay for these roles are $16 per hour for housekeeping and $18 per hour for cooks.

About 33,000 of the more than 41,000 members of the Service Trades Council Union have returned to work, according to Matt Hollis, president of that worker coalition. Walt Disney World also recently reinstated the Disney College Program.
