Disney SKyliner Views?

Wondering what the views will be like on the new Disney Skyliner? Wonder no longer.

When Disney Skyliner takes flight, Sept. 29, 2019, guests aboard this complimentary transportation system will see one-of-a-kind views of woodlands, waterways and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot – with familiar Disney pals appearing to be along for the ride.

Check out the videos below for a first look at stunning vistas seen along the Disney Skyliner routes.

New Skyliner Marquee Unveiled

Via WDW News Today;

“Hooray for Hollywood, and Skyliners! For weeks now, the Disney Skyliner sign at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been haphazardly wrapped in plastic, and just today, it was unwrapped and revealed ahead of the Skyliner’s big debut later this month.

While we could pretty much make out the overall outline of the sign before, getting to see it unobstructed against the neon-studded pillars is nice. We didn’t notice that the sign itself had any kind of backlight, so we might lose sight of it once the sun goes down. Hopefully they embed some kind of lighting for it.

The side sign was also fully unveiled, with the top “Disney” cap revealed and the silver accents around it. This one will probably light up, too. These signs will beckon guests to take the Disney Skyliner to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, where guests can transfer to Disney’s Riviera Resort and on to Epcot, or to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.”

Disney Skyliner May Partially Open Next Month

Many guests are excited to take their first ride on the Disney Skyliner high above the Vacation Kingdom of the World, but also want to know just when that might be.

While those adverse to heights, claustrophobic spaces, or perhaps those just afraid of the possible high temperatures inside of the gondolas may not be quite as excited, those of you anticipating the newest Walt Disney World transportation system will be happy to know that you’ll likely be able to ride through the skies beginning in August 2019.

According to WDW News Today and construction personnel working on the project, the Disney Skyliner will open to guests on August 28th, the day before the official opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

They expect that the Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Art of Animation/Pop Century Resort stations and lines will be open on that date. For whatever reason, they stated implicitly that the Epcot line will not be ready for August 28th.

Obviously, the Disney’s Rivera Resort station will not open in August either, as the resort will not be operating until later in the year.

Disney has yet to announce these dates officially, but several employees on-site for the project freely provided this information. At the very least, it seems to be a targeted opening date, and based on the visible progress we’ve seen, it seems HIGHLY likely. Things can certainly change, but the Skyliner operating by the time Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens feels like a safe bet.

Skyliner Gondolas Unwrapped

Earlier today, 55 stunning Disney-themed gondolas were unwrapped for special test runs in another exciting step forward for our Disney Skyliner system that’ll transport guests at Walt Disney World Resort later this fall.

The unwrapped cabins, some of which feature stunning graphics based on Disney films, attractions and characters, are now making test runs back-and-forth between Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The latest test-runs of the unwrapped Disney Skyliner gondolas are a significant milestone for the overall testing process of the state-of-the-art transportation system.  Walt Disney Imagineering began testing the gondolas at the Resort just months ago.

When fall arrives, guests of Disney Skyliner Resorts – Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – will be able to enjoy the benefit of being whisked between Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests will ride alongside favorites such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Lilo & Stitch, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion.
