We all know it’s been an interesting year since March 2020 when COVID-19 rocked the world… and continues to keep us on our toes. Theaters took a huge hit, but it seems like they are slowly but surely beginning to welcome more and more guests back. Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon recently hit select theaters and also released via Disney+ Premier Access. The question now is how will Disney release their next big film, Black Widow? It looks like Disney has yet to make a decision.
As reported by WhatOnDisneyPlus: “The next big movie release on Disney’s movie calendar is Marvel’s “Black Widow”, which is due to be released in cinemas on May 7th. During a Bloomberg interview with Disney CEO Bob Chapek, who spoke about the reopening of Disneyland in California at the end of April, he was asked about the release of “Black Widow” in theatres and on Disney+ Premier Access.”
Chapek is quoted: “Our situation and our conditions change. Just a few weeks ago, theaters in New York and Los Angeles weren’t even open. Now, all of a sudden they’re open, so we’re waiting to see how prospective theater goers respond to these reopenings. We’re going to remain flexible. We’ll make the call probably at the last minute in terms of how these films come to market, whether it’s Black Widow or any other title.” Chapek goes on the say: “We love the theatrical window. We think it’s important for building our franchises. At the same time, we don’t think it’s the only way to do it. … We’ll see what happens over the next couple of months. So much is changing, it’s such a dynamic environment. It’s really hard to predict what’s going to happen with consumer behavior in the next month as it comes to re-emergence back into the world of normal. We’ll be watching the call carefully and make the call when we have to.”
It looks like we’ll have to wait last minute to find out how Black Widow will debut. It’s interesting to note that Warner Brothers and Universal have already laid out their plans for 2021. We’ll just have to wait and see if Disney+ Premier Access carries on for Disney’s new films.
Although Marvel’s “Black Widow” movie has been delayed due to the pandemic, we’re still lucky enough to snag some merchandise featuring the deadly assassin herself while we wait for the film to be released a few months later on November 6, 2020.
Black Widow MagicBand 2 – Limited Edition – $34.99
The Limited Edition MagicBand features Natasha Romanoff as the Black Widow, with the “Black Widow” movie title printed above her. This artwork is similar to that on the first theatrical released poster for the film, which was meant to debut on May 1.
The MagicBand features a black center puck and Black Widow’s red logo in a fun print on the other side, made up of red and black shapes and silhouettes.
The collector’s box features Natasha Romanoff in comic-style artwork, along with her Black Widow logo and even a little Black Widow spider hanging down from the top. This MagicBand is a limited edition of 1,500 and replaces the cartoon style artwork of the previous Black Widow MagicBand that was released three years ago.
The spread of COVID-19 hasn’t only closed the Disney Parks, it also put a major halt on the release of several Walt Disney Studios films. We have good news however! The Walt Disney Studios has announced an updated release schedule. Check out the details below as shared by The Walt Disney Company:

Based on the best-selling young adult book by Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl stars newcomer Ferdia Shaw in the title role alongside Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel and Adrian Scarborough, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench.
“With audiences largely unable to attend theatres in the current environment, we are thrilled to offer the premiere of Artemis Fowl on Disney+,” said Ricky Strauss, president, Content & Marketing, Disney+. “Director Kenneth Branagh and his spectacular cast take viewers right into the vibrant fantasy world of the beloved book, which fans have been waiting to see brought to life onscreen for years. With growing concerns about the spread of coronavirus, Disney has decided to delay the release of the highly-anticipated “Black Widow” film, which was slated to hit movie theaters May 1, 2020.
Less than a week ago, Disney postponed “Mulan”, “The New Mutants”, and “Antlers” which were all scheduled for release in March and April.
The CDC currently recommends against gatherings of 50 or more people. Many movie theaters, including AMC 24 at Disney Springs, have closed or will be closing in the coming days to prevent the spread of the virus. Movies that were released before widespread closures have been taking a hit in the box office, including Disney’s “Onward”, which was released earlier this month.
No new date has been announced for “Black Widow”, but we will keep you updated as news surrounding coronavirus develops.
Alright Marvel Fans! We’re so excited to share that Disney has released an action-packed new trailer for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow which will be open in theaters on May 1. Check out the trailer and details below from The Walt Disney Company:
In the film, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige, Black Widow—the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—hits U.S. theaters on May 1, 2020.
