Woman who led officers on chase through Orlando airport on motorized suitcase refuses plea deal

Recently, there was a story of a New Jersey woman who led police on a slow “chase” through the Orlando airport as she refused to comply with their requests after being denied boarding by airline staff members because she was intoxicated. The woman has now refused a plea deal offered to her by prosecutors.

Chelsea Alston was traveling from Orlando to New York when the incident occurred. A Southwest Airlines gate agent refused to allow Alston to board the aircraft when she appeared to be inebriated. Airline personnel called for Orlando Police officers to intervene as Alston was drunk and angry about not being on her plane to New York. When an officer asked her to go to the airport’s main terminal so she could sober up and book another flight, she refused and instead rode away on her motorized suitcase, which was more of an electric vehicle mounted to her luggage.

If she’s convicted, she could face a maximum of five years in prison for each felony count she received. She has pleaded not guilty.

Alston can be seen in a video as she rides her suitcase through Orlando International Airport as an officer follows behind her on his bicycle.

“We’re going to have a bike pursuing a suitcase in a minute,” says Officer Andrew Mamone while riding his bicycle trying to reach Alston as she rode away from him.

During a trial management meeting held on Monday of this week, Alston told officials she wanted to proceed with a jury trial. Her charges include battering an officer and causing more than $1,000 in property damage. Prosecutors had offered her the opportunity to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges instead, but she declined the offer.

Alston earned both charges for behaviors toward the officer; the video shows her spitting on the officer more than once, and then when she was in the patrol car, she tore up the vehicle’s headliner and then defecated in the seat. Damages to the officer’s vehicle are estimated at $1,200, according to the arrest report from the Orlando Police Department.

Intoxicated woman leads police on chase aboard her motorized suitcase through Orlando International Airport

If you’re one of the millions of non-Florida residents who visit the Walt Disney World every year and you choose to do so via plane, you’ll always get to Disney by way of Orlando International Airport, also known by its IATA airport code, MCO.

Every year, Orlando International Airport serves an average of 40 million passengers across one main terminal (called the North Terminal; the South Terminal is still under construction), four concourses, and 129 gates. In 2019, a record 50.6 million passengers passed through MCO’s gates. Of those passengers, nearly 7.2 million were traveling internationally, and close to 43.5 million passengers were traveling domestically.

Passengers making their way to the Most Magical Place on Earth account for a large part of MCO’s traffic, and Disney and Orlando International seem to work well together. Recently, in honor of Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration, part of the airport was dressed in its Disney and 50th best, giving Guests a taste of the magic from the very moment they disembarked their planes.

But as you might expect, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows (or in this case, pixie dust and fairy tales), even at an airport that plays a role in getting Guests to the vacation of a lifetime. According to WESH Channel 2, video of an incident has just recently surfaced that shows a wild exchange between a young woman and police at the Orlando Airport.

The officer bodycam footage released by the Orlando Police Department depicts an incident that began around 6:3o p.m. local time in April 2021 at the airport. According to an affidavit, officers were called to respond when a passenger became disorderly because she was intoxicated. She had been denied boarding because of her intoxication, which was observable by those around her as she slurred her speech and then began yelling at other passengers and airline representatives around her when she was told she would have to miss her flight.

The affidavit also describes the woman’s behavior as an officer attempted to explain to her why she couldn’t board the aircraft, stating that the young woman responded to the officer by “angrily rolling away, yelling profanities while atop a motorized luggage bag.” In the officer’s bodycam video, the woman can be seen riding away on her suitcase, and the officer even mentions that the suitcase really moves. He then mounts his bicycle and must pursue her on his bike as she “rolls” away.

When the officer caught up with the intoxicated woman, he tried again to reason with her, but she spat on him. The officer remained extremely calm and patient with the woman, as is seen in the bodycam video, but after multiple extended attempts to curb her disorderly behavior, the officer declared, “You’re under arrest.” He placed handcuffs on her, at which time she spat in his eye.

As officers attempted to take the woman into custody, she reportedly kicked and grabbed at them. They were eventually able to get the woman into a police cruiser, where she proceeded to spit, urinate, and defecate.

The 31-year-old woman faces multiple charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer, assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct.

Man Arrested for Threatening to Blow Up Disney Executives Homes

Typically when we hear of an arrest linked to Disney it has something to do with people making the wrong decisions inside or around the Parks. Not too long ago a man was arrested for jumping the wall at Magic Kingdom to gain access to the most magical place on earth. When COVID closed the Parks, another man was arrested for making camp on Disney’s abandoned property, Discover Island. On occasion, you hear of the more serious situations, such as the woman that was arrested for hiding a gun in a Disney planter then blaming it on her 6-year-old. Needless to say, some people don’t make the best decisions even at Walt Disney World. While these previous arrests can be threatening, this newest arrest linked to Disney is scary as actual threats came from a Florida man saying he was going to blow up Walt Disney World executives’ homes.

As reported by WESH: “A Florida man is accused of threatening to blow up the homes of Disney executives on Twitter. Authorities say Steven Jordan, 31, created a Twitter account on Aug. 8 and made 186 tweets in a three-hour period. Two of the tweets were directed at Walt Disney World, threatening their executives. The tweets read: “@Disney or we will blow up all of your execs houses with C4” and “@Disney I will toss a hand grenade threw their loft window.” Officials say Jordan made other tweets at Activision Games about their executives, making derogatory comments. Twitter suspended the account on Aug. 9.”

Jordan admitted to writing the tweets when questioned by detectives. According to WESH, Jordan was previously convicted on the charge of a false report about planting a bomb, explosive, or weapon of mass destruction. At the moment he is being held in a Pinellas County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Authorities are continuing to investigate the situation.

Three Disney World Cast Members Arrested in Undercover Child Predator Sting

Hard news to share coming out of Central Florida. Seventeen suspects have been arrested in an undercover child predator sting. Of the seventeen it is now being reported that three of the suspects are Walt Disney World Cast Members. The names and former locations of where these Cast Members worked have been released.

According to WFLA: “Seventeen people from across central Florida have been charged “Operation Child Protector,” a six-day undercover investigation into child predators held by multiple agencies. Sheriff Grady Judd said all of them intended to engage in sexual activity with what they believed were children, but instead, they encountered undercover officers who were posing as children online.”

The report goes on to share that among the suspects were three employees at Disney World including couple Savannah and Jonathan McGrew (both worked as custodians at Disney’s Hollywood Studios) and Kenneth Javier Aquino (a lifeguard at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge).

In total, the 17 suspects face 48 felony charges and two misdemeanors, with nine of them having criminal histories. To view the article details and list of suspects names, visit WFLA. We’re thankful for “Operation Child Protector” and the success in arresting these 17 predators.

Man Arrested For Climbing Magic Kingdom Wall

While sometimes the cost of a ticket can be a hard one to handle, sneaking into the park has never crossed our minds. Unfortunately, one man decided he would try his best to sneak into the park by climbing the Magic Kingdom wall to enter. His endeavors didn’t get him very far.

As reported by ClickOrlando: “A man faces charges after Walt Disney World security spotted him climbing a wall in an attempt to sneak into the Magic Kingdom park, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Johnny Tran, 31, was arrested on May 23 at Walt Disney World. Investigators said just before noon, Tran did not pay for parking in Disney’s parking lot. A uniformed security guard posted at a checkpoint along a walkway leading from the Contemporary Resort to Magic Kingdom told deputies that he saw Tran near the entrance to a bus drivers’ breakroom. The guard then watched as Tran looked around and then walked up to berm, which investigators said he climbed over to gain entry to the park.”

The report goes on to say that a security guard assigned to that portion of the park saw Tran walk out of a Cast Member only door into Tony’s Town Square Restaurant and was removed taken to a security office at that point.

Tran faces charges of trespassing and petit theft for failing to pay for parking or the entrance fee for the park. His arraignment in scheduled for July 27. To read more details about the arrest visit ClickOrlando.com.
