Disney Hotel Overrun With Bug Infestation?

Guests who are staying at a Disney World hotel comes with numerous benefits beyond just the theming. Guests can take advantage of convenient transportation options, like the monorail system and buses, which provide easy access to the theme parks and other attractions. Additionally, guests can enjoy extended park hours, allowing them to spend more time in the parks outside of regular operating hours.

Disney World, like any other hospitality establishment, strives to maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards to minimize the presence of pests. Disney World hotels and resorts generally prioritize guest satisfaction, which includes addressing any concerns related to pests promptly and professionally. If a guest encounters bugs in their room, it’s recommended to report the issue to the hotel’s front desk or guest services.

In a social media post, guests staying at All-Star Movies encountered several bugs. As they stated in the post when in Florida bugs are looking for somewhere to hide from the heat. This guest room was being overrun by gnats they counted for fun and found 18 bugs. While searching for bugs they realized their room had a decent amount of dust. This guest was wondering if daily housekeeping would cut the amount of bugs down.

I get it, it’s Florida, and things are always buggy.

“We booked our room at All Star Movies and found a few bugs in the bathroom by the shower and by the sink. Whatever, it’s fine. Bugs happen. The following morning we wake up to 18 (my kids thought it would be fun to count) gnats in the sink, about 7 in the shower, and two dead long and skinny ones on the edge of the bed. Upon checking out the room further, there was a significant amount of dust in the corners of the room, and the garbage pail was sticky at the bottom of it. I felt it was time to call the front desk. It just didn’t feel clean. I never, ever complain about my room, and being a Florida resident, I understand the bug situation completely. I don’t care if it’s a value resort, I’m still paying around $150 a night. And it doesn’t even include daily housekeeping.”

I’m just curious as to what everyone else tolerates in terms of bugs in your resort room. Obviously, the value and moderate resorts will have more, due to the doors going to the outside, but I feel like the lack of daily housekeeping plays a major part in it too.”

While the presence of bugs can be alarming, it’s worth noting that isolated incidents can occur even in well-maintained establishments due to factors such as weather conditions, local environment, and guest behavior. To minimize the risk of attracting pests, guests should avoid leaving food uncovered, keep windows and doors closed when not in use, and dispose of trash properly.

If you encounter bugs during your stay at a Disney World hotel, it’s advisable to address the issue directly with the hotel staff. Remain respectful and understanding, as they will likely work to resolve the problem promptly while ensuring your overall experience remains as enjoyable as possible.

Disney Refused Room Change to All-Star Movies Guest With Bug Infested Room

Disney Resorts are the gold-standard of hotel rooms- clean, safe, close to the action, bug-free…err…usually. One guest, however, had a very different experience. When Joshua Keller checked in to All-Star Movies Resort this morning (September 10, 2022), he found that his room already had “guests” inside. His room was infested with disgusting bugs.

Streaming the Magic shared photos and Keller’s experience. Here’s what went down, in his own words:

Checked into our room today to the surprise of over 20 of these bugs crawling all around the room, called immediately to the main desk, was then told we would have our room changed to a new one immediately and manager will speak with us.”

“15-20 min of waiting goes by, [we] get a call back to the room telling us they won’t be changing our room but will send someone to clean it if we wanted! After spending our

honeymoon at Disney the past 2 weeks (stayed at all-star sports for 5 nights and a 7 night cruise on the fantasy), to be treated this way is brutal.”

“As I’m typing this actively more bugs are continually crawling out of vents and under doors! I get this is that time of year, but they regardless shouldn’t be in a “cleaned” room.”

Bug infested Disney room

That is certainly not the way anyone wants to begin a magical Disney World Vacation, let alone a honeymoon!  The bugs appear to be love bugs which are common in Central Florida and not dangerous to humans, but regardless, no one wants to stay in a room filled with bugs. This story does have a happy ending, however, thanks to the caring efforts of one Mousekeeper who arrived at the room to help. When she saw the level of infestation in the room, she made sure the Kellers got a new room.

“She was amazing,” Keller said, adding, “and [she] personally checked the room herself to ensure it was taken care of as well as providing us with a free meal voucher. She is very valuable to this resort and the only reason our stay was improved and made acceptable!”

Tour a Renovated Room at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

Join us for a tour of a renovated room at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, which finally reopened on March 22nd after a year-long closure. The resort rooms comfortably sleep four adults and now have a much more efficient design that allows for more space all around.

The renovated All-Star Movies rooms now feature a queen-size bed as well as a pull-down Murphy bed. The old carpet has been ripped up and wooden laminate floors take its place.

Like most Disney resort hotels these days, the colorful quilts that were once on the beds are now replaced with white comforters and sheets that brighten up the entire room. The picture that hangs above the bed includes Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, and Donald Duck in the new animation style as seen in Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction.

The headboard behind the Murphy bed has a fun picture of Huey, Dewey, and Louie dreaming about playing soccer, premiering in their own movie, and performing at a concert. The scene matches the three All-Star Resorts- Sports, Movies, and Music.

Baseballs, vinyl records, and film wheels symbolize each of the All-Star Resorts. This may mean the end of uniquely themed rooms across the three resorts.

A floating nightstand sits on either side of the Murphy bed. No longer outfitted with drawers, a shelf takes its place. USB outlets are conveniently placed so guests can charge all of their electrical devices. A corded house phone is still available in every room as well.
