A Disney cast member who suffered a devastating fall during a live performance inspired by Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991) over the weekend is reportedly “fighting for her life.”

On Saturday, 31-year-old Anastasia Olsen, a professional ice skater who portrays Belle in the Beauty and the Beast-inspired performance for Disney on Ice, was seriously injured when she suffered a devastating fall during Disney’s Magic in the Stars show at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to eye-witness accounts, Olsen appeared “shaky” before her fall, just as she was being lifted into the air as part of the performance she shared with another actor who portrayed Beast in the show. Other witnesses say the actress began exhibiting signs of seizure immediately following the accident, though it’s not clear whether Olsen did, in fact, suffer a seizure.

Olsen’s fall prompted immediate emergency medical attention, and paramedics quickly arrived and transported the actress to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Crew Member Dies on Set of Marvel’s Newest Show

Since its November 2019 launch, Disney+ has created a number of hit shows that fans just can’t get enough of. And a lot of them are coming from Marvel Studios. First, there was WandaVision, followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki. Now, we also have What If…?, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, and Echo.

Disney and Marvel also have several series in development, including Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Armor Wars, and Wonder Man.

Sadly, we have learned that one of the crew members working on Wonder Man has died after an on-set accident at the CBS Radford Studios. According to Deadline, the man was working as a rigger and fell from the rafters.

A rigger working at Radford Studios in Studio City died today after falling from a catwalk, Deadline has learned. The male crew member was working on the set of Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man, but the series was not filming at the time.

The Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed the man’s death but did not immediately release his name.

Wonder Man was set to begin production next month, after being delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that occurred over the spring and summer of 2023. We do not know if Marvel will delay production further because of the man’s tragic death.

Shortly after news of the man’s death broke, a Marvel spokesperson shared a brief statement:

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident.”

An investigation is underway and is being performed by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, also known as OSHA. OSHA typically steps in when a death occurs at any workplace.

The unnamed crew member was a member of the IATSE union — the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. It is an incredibly large union, which represents those who work behind the scenes on film and television productions.

“Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues. Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can. If you feel unsafe on set for any reason, members can call the IATSE Safety Hotline at 844-422-9273 or use our safety info app.”

When you work at a place like Walt Disney World Resort, there tend to be a lot of wild and wacky things that happen on a day-to-day basis. Whether it is ridiculous Guests or rambunctious children, it can be expected that Cast Members will see something out of the ordinary nearly every day.

However, every once in a while, something truly horrifying and out of the ordinary happens at Walt Disney World Resort. That’s precisely what happened to one Cast Member when a seemingly normal day took a turn for the worst!

It’s easy to get so swept up in the fun of Walt Disney World rides and attractions that we often forget about how dangerous these rides can truly be. Over its 50 years in service, Walt Disney World has seen its fair share of injuries. With all of the rides and attractions the Parks have to offer, accidents happen more often than Cast Members would like.

Once a Guest is injured on a ride, they are immediately attended to by paramedics as soon as possible. The side Guests don’t usually see is the horrifying and sometimes disgusting tasks that Cast Members have to do to help out. For some Cast Member’s working at Magic Kingdom Park, that meant searching for a ride for a Guests detached finger.

On the Reddit group r/WaltDisneyWorld, one Disney fan asked a simple question, “Who has interesting or wild/crazy stories from WDW?” The answer they received was something truly shocking.

Reddit user @travelingtheworld-1 began his story by explaining that it all went down 25 years ago during Walt Disney World’s 25th Anniversary. The Cast Member was working at Space Mountain when a Guests finger was “ripped off by the wedding band in the light tube launch.” After the incident occurred, the Cast Member’s working on Space Mountain were instructed to search the ride for the severed finger.

According to the Cast Member, the finger was found, put on ice, and reattached to the victim at a nearby hospital. If there’s one thing to take away from this horrifying story, it is to make sure to listen to safety demonstrations at the begging of a ride. The poster reminds Guests, “when they say keep your arms inside, just listen.”

Coroner Releases Details About Woman Who Fell to Her Death at Disney Park

The Orange County, California coroner has released details about a female Guest who fell, resulting in a death at Disneyland on Saturday evening.

Just before 7:00 p.m. local time on Saturday evening, officers with the Anaheim Police Department responded to reports of a female falling from the Mickey and Friends parking structure at the Disneyland Resort. When they arrived, they discovered a woman lying on the ground, and emergency personnel were on the scene to provide emergency treatment to the woman as she was readied for transport the a local hospital.

She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased after she arrived at the hospital. Her identity was unknown at the time, and no other details were shared as officers began their investigation to determine the events that led up to her fall. Late on Sunday evening, however, the Orange County Coroner’s office released information after identifying the woman.

Per the coroner’s office, the female was identified as 46-year-old Marney Schoenfeld from Scottsdale, Arizona. Though details surrounding this tragedy continue to be under investigation, Orange County Sheriff Sgt. Scott Steinle said Schoenfeld “jumped or fell” from the Mickey and Friends parking structure at Disneyland on Saturday.

Randy Schoenfeld, Schoenfeld’s husband and an Arizona real estate agent, said his wife’s death has been “excruciating” for him.

“She was a loving mother to her daughter, Sydney,” Randy said in an email. “She was a caring wife to me. She was a talented hairstylist of 23 years, and her clients loved her.”

The Mickey and Friends parking structure is a seven-story building that feature parking spaces accessible to Guests of Downtown Disney, Disneyland Park, and Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, and Schoenfeld’s death is the second one to occur in just over two months at the parking structure.

In early December, Anaheim police officers responded to reports of a man falling from the structure. Shortly thereafter, the man was identified as Christopher Christensen, a 51-year-old elementary school principal from Huntington Beach, California, who posted a letter to his Facebook account shortly before the tragedy. Per the Anaheim Police Department’s investigation–as well as the letter penned by Christensen online–his death was ruled a suicide as he had jumped from atop the structure to his death.

At this time, there is no information that suggests Schoenfeld’s death was a suicide, and the investigation is ongoing.
