Tickets at Walt Disney World Resort haven’t been this affordable in quite some time!
Walt Disney World Resort is home to many magical theme parks and attractions that bring in millions of Disney Park Guests. Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT may be home to some of the most magical attractions in the world, but they also cost a pretty penny to enter. Guests from ages 3 & up will need a ticket to get into a Disney World theme park, and this means that the average family has to dish out an insane amount of money to afford admission to the theme parks alone, with this not even counting travel, lodging, and food.
Even the most budget-conscious families still find themselves spending close to a fortune when heading to Walt Disney World Resort, and a family of four can easily spend over $3,000 for a few days at “The Most Magical Place on Earth.”
Disney CEO Bob Iger recently divulged that he believed the company was forcing Guests to spend too much money in the Parks. He said that he believes the theme parks should be accessible, and that’s certainly not what they’ve become over the last several years. However, if you’re willing to plan a trip to Disney World in the near future, we’ve got good news for you.
You can actually take advantage of a Walt Disney World Resort ticket deal right now that will rival a ticket to Six Flags, Busch Gardens, or anywhere else around the country.
Disney announced today that it is offering a special summer deal for Guests, which will include a 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket for $99.00 per day ($396.00 plus tax) beginning May 23, 2023. No theme park reservations are needed for this deal, and you’ll be able to enter all four theme parks– Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios– on four separate days. While Park Hopping is not a part of the deal, this is as low of a ticket price as we’ve seen offered for Walt Disney World in quite some time. This ticket is valid for theme park admission from June 1 to September 29, 2023—subject to blockout dates from July 1 to July 4, and September 1 to September 4, 2023. The ticket expires within seven days of first use or on September 29, 2023, whichever occurs first. Tickets are not valid for admission on blockout dates.
In addition, Florida residents can take advantage of a deal on Summer Magic Tickets that are just $58.00 per day ($229.00 plus tax) for four days. With this ticket, advance theme park reservations are required and are subject to availability.
Scarlett Johansson is one of the most famous and iconic actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her work in the role of Black Widow helped her become a household name. Unfortunately, what was once a perfect partnership has become a rocky relationship between Johansson and the Walt Disney Company.
In 2021, Johansson decided to sue the Walt Disney Company over the way they handled the mid-pandemic release of her movie, Black Widow. Johansson ended up walking away with a settlement of around $40 million. Now, the actress has decided to open up about what that process was really like for her.
Johansson Breaks Her Silence on Her Brutal Disney Lawsuit
Back in 2021, Scarlett Johansson, the star of Black Widow, took legal action against the Walt Disney Company over a breach her of contract. The Hollywood actress has accused the company of failing to honor their contract by releasing her movie Black Widow on Disney+ alongside its theatrical release. She alleged that this cost her millions of dollars in potential earnings.
Now, Ms. Johansson has shared her thoughts on the matter, stating that the move to release Black Widow on Disney Premier Access was “sad and disappointing.” She has been an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade, playing the iconic role of Natasha Romanoff, which she has now stepped away from.
In an interview with Variety, Johansson decided to speak out about what this situation was like for her. She says;
“I was sad and disappointed. But mostly sad. It was such a surreal moment because we were all isolated and just sort of emerging a little bit. I was also really heavily pregnant, too, which in a weird way was amazing timing. Suddenly, your entire attention is drawn to this miracle of life. So, I had the most wonderful distraction in the world and soon after had a beautiful baby.”
Disney Stabbed One of Their Biggest Starts in the Back
The decision by Disney to mess with one of its biggest stars has been deemed bizarre by many, especially since Ms. Johansson has been a loyal ambassador of the Walt Disney brand for several years.
Johansson’s agent, Bryan Lourd, was a fierce advocate for the actress during this process. He explained how furious he was over the way that Disney representatives were speaking of Johansson during the lawsuit, even going as far as to say she was showing a “callous disregard.” He says;
“I lost my mind and said, ‘How dare you make it seem like she’s not worth this money or that she somehow hasn’t earned it?’ She and I were very much in lockstep about what this was. And she had the conviction to let me fight back. A lot of people wouldn’t do that. And part of the reason she did it is because she thought, in the position she’s in, she had a responsibility not just to herself but to other people who were being confronted with this change.”
Ms. Johansson’s court case brought attention to the already existing problem faced by actors and studios. Actors have contractual agreements that stipulate monetary compensation based on the movie’s box office performance, which is difficult to measure when it is released on Disney+ or any other streaming platform. The lawsuit has raised important questions about how artists and filmmakers are compensated in the new world of digital streaming. These conversations need to be discussed in this new world.
A desperate young mother is pleading with the public to help her find something irreplaceable that was lost during a recent trip to Disney World: the ashes of her late son, Gabryel.
During a trip to Disney World in late April, a small stuffed elephant containing the ashes of a little boy named Gabryel were lost, leaving his mother, Iowa resident Liz Atkinson distraught, unable to sleep, and desperate.
The light blue stuffed elephant toy, lovingly named “Bruce,” was originally given to Atkinson’s son, Gabryel, when he was a newborn in intensive care after his birth. Bruce the elephant stayed by Gabryel’s side through more than 50 surgical procedures performed in an attempt to save his life. Sadly, Gabryel did not survive.
“He slept with it every night, and since his passing, my husband and I have had it in our bed with us,” Atkinson said. The young mother also explains that after Gabryel passed away, his ashes were placed inside a pouch that’s sewn onto Bruce’s back. In remembrance of Gabryel on his birthday, Atkinson says that she and her husband took their surviving son, Sebastyan, to Disney World. It was only natural that Bruce accompany the family on their trip to the parks as well.
“Bruce, of course, was brought on our trip, and a small bag of our son’s ashes was inside the pouch on Bruce’s back,” she wrote in a post on Facebook. “The trip was a bit hectic with three different cities and hotels, and grief-brain kicked in at some point with all of the emotions, making me really struggle with simple memory tasks.”
Gabryel’s mom says that during the family vacation, they first stayed at the Beachside Resort in Cocoa Beach. They were there from April 22 to April 24. Atkinson says the family went parasailing while at Cocoa Beach, and she remembers seeing Sebastyan, her son, holding Bruce.
“This is where the trip gets hazy in my memory due to emotions and grief,” Atkinson said. “Thinking back, I don’t recall Sebastyan bringing [Bruce] back to our vehicle.”
On April 24, the family spent the day at Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World Resort. Then they were at the Palazzo Lakeside Hotel in Kissimmee, Florida, until April 25.
The young mother doesn’t recall carrying the stuffed elephant toy to the hotel that day. She says Bruce was normally packed in a suitcase, but that didn’t happen as the family had been parasailing. It wasn’t until April 25, when the Atkinson family checked into Disney’s Art of Animation Resort that they realized that Bruce was missing–Bruce and the irreplaceable pouch of her late son’s ashes. They stayed on Disney property until April 30.
“Because vehicles get messy on trips, I kept thinking maybe he was just mixed in somewhere,” Atkinson explained in her post. “[It’s] very unlike me; I know where everything is 100% of the time, even on trips (thank you, grief), but once we got home May 1, I searched EVERYWHERE. Every bag. He’s gone.”
Atkinson says she is “completely desperate” and hoping in earnest that the family is able to be reunited with Bruce and the very precious cargo he carries on his back.
She says she has called every location the family visited during their trip. She has even filled out a lost and found form with Disney World, but Bruce is still nowhere to be found, and the loss is taking a toll on the already grief-stricken young mom.
“I feel sick, struggling to sleep. I’m desperate,” she said.
Atkinson says the stuffed elephant could have been dropped or fallen out of their vehicle in the parking lot near Cocoa Beach Parasailing or at the Palazzo Hotel. Bruce might have even ended up on the ramp to the Orange Parking Garage at Disney Springs–if he fell out of the family’s car somehow. Gabryel’s mom can’t believe her grief would have such an effect on her that she would leave the toy accidentally.
“I never in a million years would’ve thought that struggling with grief would have impaired my memory enough to forget him somewhere, and I tried very hard to make sure he was always in a bag or in my arms so this didn’t happen,” she said.
Atkinson is reaching out and sharing her story in the hopes that someone who visited one of those places during the same time–or perhaps since the family was there–might recognize Bruce and take the first steps in getting him back home with his family. She says anyone who might know where Bruce is can contact her via Facebook.
Bruce the elephant is light blue in color and features a red “heart” or “pulse” on his chest. He also carries a pouch on his back where baby Gabryel’s ashes. We’re hoping and praying along with the Atkinsons that Bruce is returned safe and sound.
The Walt Disney Company has shown they’re not backing down in their recent lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In fact, today, they filed an amended lawsuit after the state legislature moved to void the previously instated 30-year theme park development agreement created by the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
The battle continues to escalate between Governor DeSantis and the Walt Disney Company, with no signs of either side relinquishing. Recently, in an interview with Newsmax, DeSantis proclaimed victory against the company. “At the end of the day they just have to understand — the party is over for them,” He said about Disney, regarding what he refers to as “the will of the people” in the state of Florida.
Of course, this is all in response to Disney speaking out against DeSantis’ controversial Parental Rights in Education Act, which forbids teachers from discussing LGBTQ+ topics with their students in Florida schools. The state legislature also recently passed a bill that would allow the state to take custody of children who are “at risk” of receiving gender-affirming care, even those who do not reside in the state of Florida.
Disney has made their commitment to inclusivity and protection of their Cast Members clear, which launched a retaliation campaign against them by the Governor’s office, including the dissolving of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, Disney’s self-governing district. The back-and-forth about the district between Disney and DeSantis has a long and complicated timeline, which you can read more about here.
The skirmish culminated with Disney suing Ron DeSantis and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board members for violation of the First Amendment, alleging that the Governor’s actions were clear and obvious targeting of the company for exercising free speech.
Today, Disney amended that complaint with more direct quotes from DeSantis that point towards this retaliation. Disney’s amended complaint — read it here — opens with a DeSantis quote from last week, in which he said, “[T]his all started, of course, with our parents’ rights bill.” They also stated:
“The State’s actions over the last two weeks are the latest strikes… At the Governor’s bidding, the State’s oversight board has purported to ‘void’ publicly noticed and duly agreed development contracts, which had laid the foundation for billions of Disney’s investment dollars and thousands of jobs. Days later, the State Legislature enacted, and Governor DeSantis signed legislation rendering these contracts immediately void and unenforceable. These government actions were patently retaliatory, patently anti-business, and patently unconstitutional.”
“The Governor and his allies have made clear they do not care and will not stop. The Governor recently declared that his team would not only “void the development agreement”—just as the State has now done, twice—but also planned “to look at things like taxes on the hotels,” “tolls on the roads,” “developing some of the property that the district owns” with “more amusement parks,” and even putting a “state prison” next to Walt Disney World. “Who knows? I just think the possibilities are endless,” he said.”
The board has moved to countersue Disney, but public opinion seems to be largely in Disney’s favor. Disney is the single largest taxpayer in the state of Florida and also the biggest employer in Central Florida.
This amendment comes mere days before the company’s next earnings call, which is scheduled for May 10.
