Fight Breaks Out in Theater During Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” Showing

A fight broke out in a movie theater during a showing of Disney’s newly-released live-action film The Little Mermaid.

On Saturday evening, a group of adults ruined the experience for a packed house at the theater when they began fighting and shouting at each other as Disney’s The Little Mermaid played on the big screen in front of them. To make matters worse for everyone in the audience–many of whom were children–the adults who were engaged in the altercation stood up the entire time they were fighting, blocking the view of the screen for moviegoers seated behind them.

Had they remained seated, the experience would have still been soured for the rest of the audience as the adults argued by yelling and shouting expletives at one another.

A 44-second video clip of the fight was tweeted by @BabyGravy9, and from that clip, it’s impossible to tell what started the argument. Overall, the only decipherable words are the expletives that decorate the entirety of the altercation that was caught on camera.

A woman in the theater during the Disney film showing who witnessed the fight as it took place can be heard saying that she needs a refund, presumably because of the distraction of the fight, since it seems to have disrupted the showing of the film, which debuted at the box office on Friday.

It’s unclear how long the altercation lasted on Saturday evening, but it’s completely within reason for moviegoers to expect that when they go to a local movie theater to catch Disney’s latest flick at the box office, fellow patrons will refrain from arguing and fighting while in public. And if those patrons can’t seem to drum up enough self-control to wait until they’re home to argue, they should at least step outside of the theater to do so.

The moral of the story is this: no one wants to buy a ticket to see Disney’s newest film, only to get to watch a fight between other adults instead. After all, that’s not the show they selected when they purchased their tickets.

Dying Child’s Doctor Races To Reach Lucasfilm For Last Wish

Via DisDining.com

Late on the night of May 20th, dermatologist Roxanna Daneshjou, took to Twitter to fight for a dying child’s last wish. According to her original tweet, Daneshjou asks Twitter to work its magic in connecting her pediatric oncologist friend with Disney.

Apparently, a pediatric patient has been “fighting cancer for years and is at the end of their battle.” The child’s last wish is to see the Disney+ Star Wars series Ashoka, which has yet to premiere on the streaming platform. Daneshjou tagged actor Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker of the original Star Wars franchise, and Rosario Dawson, the star of the upcoming Ashoka series.

Twitter was quick to reply and get the hive mind thinking. Many immediately suggested that the oncologist reach out to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is known for granting children with critical illnesses their wishes, and has an extensive history of making Disney-related dreams come true.

Daneshjou mentioned that the child has been fighting cancer for the past ten years and was lucky enough to already have a wish granted by the Make-A-Wish foundation. She noted, however, that sometimes Make-A-Wish will grant another wish in situations like these, where the end of life is imminent.

Twitter, please do your thing. A pediatric oncologist has asked for help connecting with Disney. A pediatric patient who has been fighting cancer for years and is at the end of their battle. Their one wish is to see the new Ahsoka series. @MarkHamill @rosariodawson

Daneshjou shared that the attending oncologist is trying to get the pediatric patient an advanced screening, as the child will not make it to the August release date. The social media outpouring was wholesome. People immediately reached out to their Disney and Lucasfilm contacts, and others offered suggestions and ideas for a GoFundMe page that might help.

One user on the thread even offered hope that Danesdhjou’s search efforts would be fruitful. Apparently, having gone through a similar situation, one doctor shared that they were able to reach out to Disney and get a DVD copy of Toy Story 4 (2019) before it was released in theaters. A Disney rep drove to the hospital to hand-deliver the DVD!

Slightly similar situation a few years ago. Our marketing department contacted Disney and a rep drove up to our hospital with a DVD version of Toy Story 4 (pre release) for my patient to watch.— Faisal Razzaqi ☮️ (@TheDrRazz) May 21, 2023

Luckily, a lead animator at Lucasfilm, Shawn Kelly saw the thread and reached out. Daneshjou updated everyone two days after her original post that Kelly had helped connect her with someone higher up at Lucasfilm. They were hoping for the best.

Roxana Daneshjou’s Twitter has yet to offer a resolution or answer if the child was able to get an advanced screening or not. We hope for another update soon, or at least that the child’s wish may have already been granted.

a Tropical Storm May Be Headed for Walt Disney World

If you’ve visited Walt Disney World Resort, especially more than once, then you know that Florida has two settings: sunshine and rain.

In fact, rain and thunderstorms are so common in the Sunshine State that Floridians can even smell when a storm is coming (source: the author is a native Floridian, and she can tell you whether the clouds are worth worrying about with just a sniff).

But the National Hurricane Center is currently sniffing out something bigger than your average Central Florida storm. According to the National Hurricane Center, a tropical storm could be forming.

Although a tropical storm may sound like a fancy way of saying ‘thunderstorm,’ it’s worth noting that the two are incredibly different. Tropical storms form when the winds reach 39 miles per hour or higher, making them much more dangerous and challenging to navigate than a thunderstorm (which is already difficult to navigate through).

This year’s hurricane season begins on June 1, and yet a potential storm has already been spotted on the horizon.

According to a report by the Orlando Sentinel, the National Hurricane Center has begun tracking something “in the Atlantic east of Florida with a small chance of forming into a tropical depression.”

Rainy Day

Reportedly, the system that has been spotted has a 10% chance of turning into a tropical storm within the next couple of days. However, it’s no secret that a tropical storm can quickly develop into a hurricane, heading straight for Central Florida.

If this storm develops further, it could easily disrupt many Guests’ plans for visiting Walt Disney World Resort.

Judge Puts a Wrench in DeSantis’ Plans Against Disney

An important update has arrived regarding the ongoing legal battle between Governor Ron DeSantis and the Walt Disney Company.

If you follow Florida politics, it has been impossible to ignore the absolute mayhem that is the situation with the Reedy Creek Improvement District. It all started when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis proposed legislation that would affect the powers of special districts like the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The district was initially created by Walt Disney himself in the 1960s to give his company control over the development of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney is the largest taxpayer and explorer in the state of Florida, making it a sizeable threat to the Governor. Nevertheless, DeSantis has continued to fight back against Disney, thus drawing national attention to Orlando politics.

Ron DeSantis

While Disney fans and central Floridians have been aware of the squabble for a while, the situation became a national headline after it was announced that the Walt Disney Company would be seeing Ron DeSantis. The whole world has tuned in to see what will come of this high-profile lawsuit, which has elevated stakes due to the fact that DeSantis is a possible candidate for the Republican Party in the coming election.

Last week, DeSantis shocked the public when he filed a motion to disqualify the Judge assigned to the lawsuit. The Judge in question is Mark E. Walker, and DeSantis wants him removed because his “impartiality in this matter might reasonably be questioned.”

Just yesterday, a proposed briefing schedule and “forthcoming motions to dismiss” were revealed. Now, the judge has said that the court “will take no action.”

This decision is because the Judge had determined that no further action could be made until it was figured out what would come from DeSantis’ wish to disqualify the judge. Judge Walker explained that “This court will take no action, scheduling or otherwise, in this case until it rules on the ending motion for disqualification.”

It will be fascinating to see what comes of this case once it is revealed if the Judge will be dismissed or now.
