Disney movies hold a special place in the hearts of audiences worldwide, captivating young and old alike with their enchanting storytelling, memorable characters, and timeless themes.
Since its humble beginnings with the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, Walt Disney Animation Studios has been at the forefront of cinematic innovation, pushing the boundaries of animation and creating beloved classics that have stood the test of time.
One of the defining features of Disney movies is their ability to transport viewers to fantastical worlds filled with wonder, imagination, and magic.
Whether it’s the whimsical fairy-tale kingdom of Cinderella (1950), the lush jungles of The Lion King (1994), or the futuristic metropolis of Zootopia(2016), each Disney film invites audiences to embark on a thrilling adventure beyond their wildest dreams.
At the heart of every Disney movie lies a timeless message or moral lesson that resonates with viewers on a profound level. From the importance of friendship and family in Toy Story (1995) to the power of love in Beauty and the Beast (1991), Disney movies offer valuable insights into the human experience.
A newer Disney film that has captured the hearts of viewers is Moana (2016), which features a Disney princess.
Moana tells the story of a spirited young chief-in-training who embarks on a daring quest to save her people. Fueled by her deep connection to the ocean and her longing for adventure beyond the confines of her island home, Moana sets sail across treacherous waters to find the demigod Maui and restore the heart of Te Fiti, a mystical stone that holds the power of creation.
Given the success of Moana, Disney is releasing three new projects centered around the beloved character. The most anticipated of these projects is Moana 2
Scheduled for release on November 27, the sequel promises a thrilling adventure as Moana responds to a mysterious call from her wayfinding ancestors, leading her into perilous, uncharted waters.
Dwayne Johnson made an announcement about this massive Moana project. Moana’s live-action film is set to be released on June 27, 2025.
This movie will feature Dwayne Johnson returning as Maui the demigod. Meanwhile, Auli’i Cravalho has decided she will not return as Moana.
Another interesting Moana project is set for guests boarding the newest Disney Cruise Line ship called Disney Treasure.
Talented actor and comedian Tim Allen has been a huge part of the Disney and ABC family for decades.
For eight years, Allen starred in the iconic ABC comedy, Home Improvement. He also starred in a number of hit Disney films, including The Santa Clause (1994), Jungle 2 Jungle (1997), The Shaggy Dog (2006), and Wild Hogs (2007). And who could forget what might be Allen’s most legendary role — the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise?
In 2022, Allen reprised his role as Scott Calvin in The Santa Clauses on Disney+. And now, we have learned that Allen has teamed up with ABC for a brand-new comedy show — a series called Shifting Gears!
Shifting Gears revolves around Matt (Allen), a stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.
This is not the first time Allen has starred in a comedy for ABC. From 2011 until 2021, Allen starred alongside Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, and Kaitlyn Dever in Last Man Standing. The series was produced by 20th Century Fox, who then licensed the show to ABC. That was before the studio was purchased by Disney. Disney then licensed the show back to Fox.
Back in November, a rumor went viral, claiming that Allen was actually teaming up with controversial comedian Roseanne Barr for a new comedy. However, the rumor was pushed out by the satirical site SpaceXMania. Even if the rumor were true, it would be unlikely that the comedy would land at ABC.
ABC famously fired Barr in 2018 after she went on a racist tirade against Valerie Jarrett — a Senior Advisor to former President Barack Obama. Barr apologized for the tweet, blaming what she said on the medication she was taking. But ABC didn’t buy the excuse and parted ways with Barr, kicking her off her own show.
Shifting Gears will be co-written by Mike and Julie Scully, best known for writing on shows like The Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Fuller House. The Scullys will also serve as executive producers alongside Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina, who were all producers on Last Man Standing.
Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island paradise reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests, has it all – white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and some favorite Disney friends! Starting this weekend, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their favorite pals will debut all-new beach wear that celebrates the fun, colorful and natural environment of this tropical oasis – with some Disney Cruise Line flair, of course!
Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are ready to enjoy a day with their friends while donning new swim wear that celebrates the iconic colors of Disney Cruise Line. Guests might notice the waves on Mickey’s hat, while the small print details on his shirt pay tribute to the first time he appeared on water as Steamboat Willie. Minnie, on the other hand, is a ray of sunshine in her rainbow dress, adorned with sunglasses (complete with her signature bow) and a ship’s wheel on her ribbon belt.
Daisy Duck and Donald Duck are the quintessential beachgoers – while Daisy is hoping to enjoy a relaxing day sunbathing on the beach, Donald Duck is ready to snorkel and find all of his underwater friends (he even has some creatures hopping a ride on his floaties!). Daisy is fashionable, as always, in her lounge wrap dress, sunhat and fanciful accessories complete with nautical nods.
Goofy is ready to play anything from beach volleyball, racket ball, fishing or just riding around the island with this colorful T-shirt, shorts, vest and sun hat. Pluto is having fun celebrating all the other animals on the island, as well as those guests can find on the ship! In fact, guests may recognize his fish collar design outside their stateroom.
While Goofy might be ready for a sun-soaked activity, Chip and Dale are ready for an adventure of their own! This iconic duo used materials they found around Castaway Cay to make their very own homemade pirate costumes, fashioning floaties into sashes and beach towels into pirate hats. They are still wearing swim trunks and floatie vests, however, because you never know where adventure will take you!
Those planning a visit to Castaway Cay on an upcoming Disney cruise should be on the lookout for these brand-new looks!
One of the really fun things about Disney shows and movies is how they can take movies and stories we know so well and twist them into new and unique stories. One of the best ways Disney did this was with its hit ABC show, Once Upon a Time. Once Upon a Time aired from 2011 until 2018, and told the story of a young woman, Emma Swann, who comes to the town of Storybrooke.
What Emma doesn’t know is that Storybrooke is hiding one heck of a secret. The town is a secret town that is full of fairy tale characters who don’t remember who they are. And Emma is the only one who can help break the curse.
Throughout its seven seasons, Once Upon a Time introduced viewers to dozens of classic characters, including the infamous Captain Hook and his sidekick, Smee. The dashing Colin O’Donoghue played Captain Hook and Smee was played by English-born Canadian actor, Chris Gauthier. Together, the two took Captain Hook and Smee to new heights.
Sadly, we have learned that Chris Gauthier passed away suddenly. He was just 48 years old.
Gauthier’s reps from TriStar Appearances confirmed his death to Entertainment Weekly and said that he died after a brief illness.
“As a beloved character actor, Chris shared his talents with so many of us both on television and in film. His loss is felt not just by his fans but by those of us who were lucky enough to know him more personally. On behalf of his family, we ask for privacy during this time so that they are able to grieve properly.”
After news of Gauthier’s death broke, O’Donoghue shared a heartfelt message.
Rest in Peace Chris! Heartbroken! My love and thoughts go out to Erin and the boys! You will be missed brother! You were the real captain!!
Chris Gauthier was born on January 27, 1976, in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. He began acting in his mid-twenties, landing his first role on the show Cold Squad. From there, he appeared in many hit films and television shows, including Freddy vs. Jason (2003), Watchmen (2009), Psych,When Calls the Heart, and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
He is perhaps most well-known for playing William Smee on Once Upon a Time and Winslow Schott/Toyman on the hit CW series, Smallville.
Gauthier leaves behind his wife Erin, and his two children, Ben and Sebastian.
