The fan-favorite Star Wars TV series: The Clone Wars will be returning to your screens for its final series.
Announced at D23 Expo’s Disney+ panel, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” will be returning in February 2020, to air exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service.
All of the Star Wars films and series (released so far) will be available upon launch of the streaming service.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding to Disney+, and at the D23 Expo, we got some more details about some of the shows that are coming to the new streaming service.
“What If…?” is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first animated series, showing what would’ve happened if key events in the MCU had gone differently. And sure enough, a lot of your favorite stars from the MCU are coming back to reprise their characters, including Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Hayley Atwell, Chadwick Boseman, Samuel L. Jackson, Josh Brolin, and more.
Here’s one scenario that was discussed: What if Steve Rogers didn’t get the super-soldier serum that made him Captain America, and instead it went to Peggy Carter?
We also learned slightly more about “Loki,” the series starring Tom Hiddleston in his beloved role from the MCU. The series will be six hours long, though we don’t know how many episodes that will be broken up over. “Loki” premieres on Disney+ in Spring 2021.
A little bit more was declassified about “The Falcon and the Winter Solder,” which sees Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and Daniel Brühl reprise their roles as Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, and Helmut Zemo. “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” will focus not only on these characters’ pasts, but their lives in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame. Emily VanCamp will also reprise her role as Sharon Carter, aka Agent 13, as seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. A new character will also emerge named John Walker, though we learned nothing more about them. “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” premieres on Disney+ starting Fall 2020.
And finally, the last TV series mentioned was “WandaVision.” “WandaVision” stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprising their roles as Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) and the Vision, respectively. The show will be a half-classic sitcom, half-MCU adventure, evoking the style of television of the 50’s and 60’s. Shooting hasn’t begun yet on the series, but we learned more about casting, as there are more MCU characters joining the series, including Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis (Thor, Thor: The Dark World) and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo (Ant-Man and the Wasp). Kathryn Hahn will also be joining the show as a nosy neighbor. “WandaVision” premieres on Disney+ in Spring 2021.
At the Disney+ panel at the D23 Expo, it was announced that three new Marvel characters will debut with all-new live action series on Disney+. The new original Marvel series will each be based on legendary Marvel characters, “Moon Knight”, She-Hulk” and Ms. Marvel. Check out the official logos for each series below.
This D23 Expo’s Disney+ panel has also announced, Phineas and Ferb are getting their second-ever movie, set to premiere on the Disney+ streaming service in 2020.
“In “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe,” currently in production for the new streaming service, stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb travel across the galaxy to rescue their sister Candace, “who has been abducted by aliens and has found utopia in a far-off planet, free of pesky little brothers.”
“Phineas and Ferb” creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh are back as executive producers on the movie, while also reprising their roles are Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn; Vincent Martella as Phineas Flynn; Caroline Rhea as their mom, Linda; Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus; Alyson Stoner as Isabella; Maulik Pancholy as Baljeet; Bobby Gaylor as Buford; Olivia Olson as Vanessa; Tyler Mann as Carl; and Povenmire and Marsh as Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram, respectively. David Errigo Jr. joins the cast as Ferb Fletcher.”
Between this and the Lizzie McGuire announcement, there’s lots of good material coming to Disney+, especially for us nostalgic Disney Channel fans. The streaming service is set to have a full library of classic Disney Channel Original Movies and series as well.
