“The Beatles: Get Back” Moves to Disney+, Premiering November 2021

It’s no walk across Abbey Road, but John, Paul, George and Ringo are on the move as The Beatles: Get Back has shifted to become a Disney+ Original Series, according to Variety.

Initially, this was planned to be a theatrically-released film due to premiere in August, but due to the massive amount of footage director Peter Jackson has been able to assemble and restore from the outtakes of the documentary Let it Be, the project has shifted to the streaming service, with three episodes, each approximately two hours long, set to debut November 25th, 26th and 27th, 2021.

Jackson expressed his excitement about the project’s growth: “In many respects, [Let it Be director] Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s remarkable footage captured multiple storylines. The story of friends and of individuals. It is the story of human frailties and of a divine partnership. It is a detailed account of the creative process, with the crafting of iconic songs under pressure, set amid the social climate of early 1969. But it’s not nostalgia – it’s raw, honest, and human. Over six hours, you’ll get to know The Beatles with an intimacy that you never thought possible. I’m very grateful to The Beatles, Apple Corps and Disney for allowing me to present this story in exactly the way it should be told. I’ve been immersed in this project for nearly three years, and I’m very excited that audiences around the world will finally be able to see it.”

Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger said about the move: “As a huge Beatles fan myself, I am absolutely thrilled that Disney+ will be the home for this extraordinary documentary series by the legendary filmmaker Peter Jackson. This phenomenal collection of never-before-seen footage offers an unprecedented look at the close camaraderie, genius songwriting, and indelible impact of one of the most iconic and culturally influential bands of all time, and we can’t wait to share ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ with fans around the world.”

The character of Becca is joined by two of her classmates, Izzy and Cassie, an “oddball” and a popular girl who also happens to be Becca’s bully.

‘Cruella’ Debuts With $27 Million at The Box Office

Disney’s newest live-action film Cruella tells the story of how this evil villain came to be. Fans have rushed to the theatres to see this film as it hit high numbers at the Box Office over the weekend.

Cruella grossed $21.3 million, Disney said, and an estimated $26.4 million over the four-day weekend, placing it in the number two spot behind A Quiet Place Part 2, which earned an impressive $58.8 million.

The team knew they would be coming in second to A Quiet Place Part 2:

This is a great result for Cruella. It’s not just about opening weekend for family films, and we always knew we’d be No. 2. We’re in great, great shape for a long run.“Tony Chambers, Disney theatrical distribution chief

The numbers are strong as you have to consider the film also released on Disney+ Premier Access for an additional charge of $29.99 cutting into the box office numbers.
