New Upscale Mexican Restaurant Coming Disney World

A new fine-dining Mexican restaurant is coming to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in 2023.

Rosa Mexicano Restaurants announced plans to open its first Orlando-area location in the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in early 2023. With current locations in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Maryland, as well as upcoming openings in Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina and Las Vegas, the dynamic brand will offer an elevated fiesta dining experience, including signature menu items and award-winning margaritas.

“Rosa Mexicano’s arrival to Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is a truly exciting moment of our expansion. The opening reflects our founding chef Josefina Howard’s vision of introducing Mexican culinary traditions and authentic Mexican heritage to the world,” said Jim Dunn, CEO of Rosa Mexicano. “Once the restaurant opens, we will offer the Orlando market a fresh take on Mexican food, authentic Mexican heritage, culinary techniques and lively dining.”

The restaurant, helmed by Manuel Trevino, Vice President of Culinary, will feature dramatic design elements familiar to fans of the brand, to transport guests on a unique culinary journey. The 5,500-square-foot restaurant will offer various seating areas with capacity of about 300 guests, including a 30-person bar and a beautiful private dining room for 50.

The menu will showcase a contemporary interpretation of authentic Mexican cuisine, including beloved classics and innovative, sophisticated dishes that pay tribute to Mexico’s richly varied culinary regions. Rosa Mexicano’s renowned beverage program, which boasts over 100 varieties of tequila and agave-based spirits – and of course, the restaurant’s signature frozen pomegranate margarita, named the best in New York City – will also make its debut.

Guests can receive a first taste of Rosa Mexicano this fall during the Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic November 11-12 where the restaurant will feature a tasting station during the popular annual festival.  For tickets, visit www.swandolphinfoodandwineclassic.com.

Rosa Mexicano will be located in the Dolphin, replacing the current restaurant Fresh Mediterranean Market.  Fresh will remain open until further notice.

About Rosa Mexicano

Headquartered in New York, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican fine dining when it first opened its doors on the Upper East Side in 1984. Chef founder Josefina Howard played a leading role in defining what was then a revolutionary ‘new’ cuisine for American diners. Rosa Mexicano continues to deliver authentic, regionally inspired Mexican cuisine in a stylish, “elevated fiesta” atmosphere. For generations, the signature guacamole and frozen pomegranate margarita have been regarded as best-in-class. Today, the company operates restaurants across the northeast, including New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Massachusetts. Rosa Mexicano is owned by TriSpan Rising Stars, LLP who acquired the brand in March 2018. For more information, please visit www.rosamexicano.com.

Disney Refused Room Change to All-Star Movies Guest With Bug Infested Room

Disney Resorts are the gold-standard of hotel rooms- clean, safe, close to the action, bug-free…err…usually. One guest, however, had a very different experience. When Joshua Keller checked in to All-Star Movies Resort this morning (September 10, 2022), he found that his room already had “guests” inside. His room was infested with disgusting bugs.

Streaming the Magic shared photos and Keller’s experience. Here’s what went down, in his own words:

Checked into our room today to the surprise of over 20 of these bugs crawling all around the room, called immediately to the main desk, was then told we would have our room changed to a new one immediately and manager will speak with us.”

“15-20 min of waiting goes by, [we] get a call back to the room telling us they won’t be changing our room but will send someone to clean it if we wanted! After spending our

honeymoon at Disney the past 2 weeks (stayed at all-star sports for 5 nights and a 7 night cruise on the fantasy), to be treated this way is brutal.”

Bug Infested Disney room

“As I’m typing this actively more bugs are continually crawling out of vents and under doors! I get this is that time of year, but they regardless shouldn’t be in a “cleaned” room.”

Bug infested Disney room

That is certainly not the way anyone wants to begin a magical Disney World Vacation, let alone a honeymoon!  The bugs appear to be love bugs which are common in Central Florida and not dangerous to humans, but regardless, no one wants to stay in a room filled with bugs. This story does have a happy ending, however, thanks to the caring efforts of one Mousekeeper who arrived at the room to help. When she saw the level of infestation in the room, she made sure the Kellers got a new room.

“She was amazing,” Keller said, adding, “and [she] personally checked the room herself to ensure it was taken care of as well as providing us with a free meal voucher. She is very valuable to this resort and the only reason our stay was improved and made acceptable!”

Disney Responds to Lawsuit Filed Over Fatal Fall at Disney World Resort Hotel

In December 2020, Disney travel agent, Jessica Straub, took a Christmas trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth. She was ready to see the decorations, indulge in delicious food, and have a truly great time. Sadly, while on her trip, Jessica was at Walt Disney World’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and she slipped and fell. She hit her head on the ground, which ended up being a fatal injury. According to the District Nine Medical Examiner’s Office, Jessica died due to blunt force trauma suffered from the fall.

More than a year later, in June 2021, it was reported that a lawsuit had been filed against Disney by Jessica’s cousin, Justin Morrison. The lawsuit — which was filed by the large firm Morgan & Morgan — claims that Walt Disney World Resort was negligent and accused Caribbean Beach of having unsafe conditions.

While Disney has not commented publicly on the lawsuit, the company has responded to the lawsuit itself, by filing a response and asking for a dismissal. In the dismissal request — which was obtained by Florida Politics — Disney claimed that the lawsuit was missing several facts and called it “vague and scattershot”. Disney also said that the lawsuit was unclear as to what exactly happened to Ms. Straub, and said that there was no proof listed to point to the fall being a result of Disney’s negligence.

In its dismissal request, Disney said the following:

“Even after a thorough consideration of all six pages of the Complaint, the reader is left wondering what allegedly happened to Ms. Straub and how it was supposedly Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ fault,” Disney said in court documents filed July 19….

Noticeably absent are: any description or allegation explaining what or whom allegedly inflicted the ‘bodily injury’ on Ms. Straub; what the specific nature of the ‘bodily injury’ was; where in the roughly 200 acres that comprise Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ Caribbean Beach Resort the injury allegedly occurred; or when in the four-day time-period referenced in the Complaint Ms. Straub’s injury occurred,” Disney said in the motion. “The lack of such details makes it … impossible for (Disney) to decipher how Plaintiff claims it is liable and mandates the dismissal of the Complaint.”

walt-disney-world-sign

In addition to claiming that there was not enough information given to place the blame on Disney, the company also questioned the validity of Morrison being able to file the claim at all. Disney asked for Morrison and his attorney’s to present proof that Morrison is the representative of Ms. Straub’s estate — which is the only way he would legally be able to file the suit.
