Free Dining Promo Offer for Walt Disney World Announced

Way back in the summer of 2021, Disney stated that the Disney Dining Plan would be coming back. Well, it hasn’t, and we’ve been waiting to hear any kind of update. We finally got an announcement on a dining promotion, but it’s not exactly the news we were hoping for.

Promo Dining Card Offer Details

Disney has just announced a new dining promotion that begins January 5. Guests who purchase select vacation packages will receive a new complimentary Disney Dining Promo Card. The card will be available for arrivals between June 25 and September 14, 2023. A vacation package that includes a minimum 4-nights, anlong with a minumum 4-day theme ticket is required.

The rate of the Dining Promo Card is determined by your arrival date and resort category:

June 25-30 & July 11-31

  • $35 per night for Value resorts
  • 75 per night for Moderate resorts and Cabins
  • $125 per night for Deluxe resorts and Disney Deluxe Villas

July 1-10 & August 1- September 14

  • $50 per night for Value resorts
  • $100 per night for Moderate resorts and Cabins
  • $150 per night for Deluxe resorts and Disney Deluxe Villas

For all dates, the maximum value for the Promo Card will be $750. Note a lower-value Disney Dining Promo Card may also be available when you purchase this package during other select summer arrival dates. Ask your Travel Planner for details.

You cannot combine this offer with any other discounts. The room and ticket package must be non-discounted to receive the Disney Dining Promo Card offer.

Using the Dining Card

Rather than guests having credits for certain meals, they will receive a digital card that will be emailed to guests once they’ve checked in at their resort. You can also present the card barcode in the email itself, or print out an email for a back up copy. Finally, the card can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay digital wallets but not to a MagicBand, MagicBand+, or MagicMobile. Guests can use the card to purchase food and beverage items at select participating locations at Walt Disney World. The Dining Card will have an experiration date. To learn more about using the Disney Dining Promo Card, click here.

One important thing to remember, unlike the Disney Dining Plan, the card’s value is per night, not per guest. So the reward amount is exactly the same, regardless of the number of guests per reservation. So a family of six would have the same amount as two people.

As we noted above, there has been no update on the Dining Plans status since the summer of 2021. This new promotional card may be a temporary alternative to previous “Free Dining” offers we have seen in the past, or this may be a sign that the Dining Plans will not come back. We’ll have to wait and see what happens!

Fire Breaks Out at Disney World’s Yacht Club Resort

A fire broke out at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort on Monday evening.

According to Twitter user Spectro Radio (@spectro_radio), a fire broke out at the Beaches & Cream ice cream shop, and Guests had to be evacuated from the restaurants at Disney’s Yacht Club, including the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

“Apparently, there’s a fire at Beaches & Cream,” the post, tweeted at about 6:00 p.m. local time, reads. “People being evacuated from Yacht Club restaurants, including Yachtsman Steakhouse. #disney #yachtclub

In the short video clip, Guests can be seen waiting outside Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and blue lights flash against the structure of the Resort Hotel, signaling an active fire alarm on property.

Another Twitter user, Rob (@robtruslove), had a jovial take on the situation and responded as such.

“Just ordered my steak too,” he tweeted. “Can we go back in yet?

Disney World’s website invites Guests to “delight in the formal grace of a grand New England-style yacht club at this lakeside hotel. Relax in the inviting elegance of a plush lobby replete with nautical touches, explore the whimsical Stormalong Bay and rent a variety of watercraft from Bayside Marina. Sharing many amenities with its pastel-toned sister, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is within walking distance to EPCOT and a convenient boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.”

At the time of this post, there are no reports of injuries related to the fire at the Resort Hotel.

It’s not immediately clear what led to the fire and the evacuation of Guests from the Resort and restaurants at the Yacht Club Resort, and as this is a developing story, we will follow any further developments and bring those to our readers as more news becomes available.

Guests and Cast Members Forced Out of Magic Kingdom Hotel in Mass Evacuation

The days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve and Day are often uneventful, especially when compared to the exciting, high-energy days leading up to December 25. Thousands upon thousands of Disney fans often try to curb their boredom by visiting the Walt Disney World Resort during that time, and such a visit makes for some truly amazing holiday memories.

But regardless of the date on the calendar, life and time march on, and interesting–and sometimes alarming, unexpected–things are often just a moment away, even at Disney World. Such was the case on Wednesday morning when Guests of Disney’s Contemporary Resort began reporting on social media about a major evacuation taking place at the Resort Hotel.

Twitter user @LostBrosTweets was trying to enjoy breakfast at the Contemporary when he heard about the evacuation. In the short clip he included with his tweet, alarms can be heard in the background. He tweeted, “BRB, the entire main building of the Contemporary Resort is getting evac’d [right now].”

Carla Lemieux (@travelingmom92) was also there to witness some of the action leading to the evacuation of the Contemporary. She tweeted, “Contemporary Resort currently being evacuated into the parking lot, including employees. Fire trucks present, and alarms going off for about 30 min.”

Disney describes the Contemporary Resort Hotel as a deluxe Resort and invites Guests to “retreat to this ultra-modern Disney Resort hotel and discover award-winning dining, spectacular views, and dazzling pools. Whether you’re staying in the iconic A-frame Contemporary tower or the nearby Garden Wing, you can walk to Magic Kingdom’s main gate or catch the Resort Monorail as it breezes through the tower. Inside, a 90-foot-tall mural by Disney Legend Mary Blair—responsible for the distinct look and feel of the “it’s a small world” attraction—celebrates the Grand Canyon and the American Southwest.”

Disney World Releases First Look at New ‘Little Mermaid’ Themed Hotel Rooms!

Earlier this year, it was announced that the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort were being discontinued, and the rooms would be redesigned. The rooms fit in well with the laid-back tropical theme of the hotel, and the small details made the rooms truly immersive, but the rooms were not as popular as Disney had hoped — due to their higher price and their distance from the food and merchandise areas of Caribbean Beach.

Now we are getting a first look at the new rooms, and they don’t take Guests onboard a pirate ship. Instead, they take them under the sea! That’s right, the new rooms are themed after the hit Disney film The Little Mermaid.

Disney shared a first look at the new Little Mermaid-themed rooms on its Walt Disney World Cast and Community Facebook page.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort recently added some fin-tastic touches to guest rooms in the Trinidad area of the resort, and cast members were excited to be the first to “sea” them! These new 5th sleeper rooms accommodate more guests and feature special touches inspired by the timeless story “The Little Mermaid.” They are among the newest of the ongoing enhancements happening at our Resort hotels all around Walt Disney World! #DisneyCastLife 🦀 🌊 🌴

Haven’t stayed at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort before? Here’s more on the laid-back tropical paradise that transports you right to the islands, while being close to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Discover a world where life slows to a leisurely pace and worries melt away amidst Calypso rhythms. Awash with vibrant colors and lush landscapes, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort transports Guests to a relaxing paradise that captures the essence of 5 distinct islands: Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad and Aruba. Celebrate the spirit of the Caribbean with blissful sights and fun-filled activities—including colonial forts, lively markets, pristine beaches, splashy florals and swaying hammocks—sure to awaken the imagination

At this time, we do not know when the new Little Mermaid rooms will be available for booking. The Walt Disney World Resort website allows bookings up through May 18, 2023, and the site has not updated the rooms, so it still says that the Pirate Rooms are unavailable.

Disney Dining will keep an eye out and let readers know when the Little Mermaid rooms open up for Guests.
