Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser to Close

Statement from Disney;

The final voyage for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will take place Sept. 28-30, 2023.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our Guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment. This premium experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our Guests and fans.

We will be contacting Guests booked for voyages departing on or after Sept. 30 to discuss their options and modify their plans. To prioritize these Guests, we are pausing new bookings until May 26.

We are so proud of all of the Cast Members and Imagineers who brought Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser to life and look forward to delivering an excellent experience for Guests during the remaining voyages over the coming months.

Disney’s New, Highly-Controversial Addition Looms Over Resort

Anyone who’s visited the Walt Disney World Resort in recent months knows that there’s a lot going on. From new roller coasters at EPCOT and Magic Kingdom to exciting adventures at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, there’s never been a better time to visit “The Most Magical Place on Earth.”

Disney has also been playing around with its selection of water parks, closing down Blizzard Beach and reopening Typhoon Lagoon. However, there hasn’t been a more divisive and controversial project announced, quite like what Disney is doing to its Polynesian Resort.

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World

On Walt Disney World’s sprawling 25,000-acre property, Guests will find dozens of fantastic places to call “home” during their stay. However, few hotels are as highly regarded as Disney’s first three hotels, those being Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian, and of course, Disney’s Polynesian Village.

Walt Disney World is home to dozens of hotels and Resorts for Guests to stay, but Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort remains one of the most popular and cherished destinations at the 25,000-acre Resort.

However, there’s been a lot of discussion and commotion regarding this classic hotel, starting with the announcement that Disney would be adding a new section of the hotel exclusively for Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members.

Progress on this new destination is being made quickly, as you can see in a new update from avid  Disney World photographer bioreconstruct:

As you can see, the new DVC tower is, well, already towering over the other locations at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Disney is currently building new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas which will join the rest of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. These were announced last year and, once complete, will effectively replace the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show entirely.

The project is scheduled to be completed sometime in 2023, though an exact date has not been revealed. While it’s always exciting to see something new make its way to Disney, this specific project was met with a lot of criticism from Guests. Guests felt that the design of the new building did not match the aesthetic of Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

BIG Changes Were Just Made to Disney World’s Vacation Booking Process

When it comes to a Walt Disney World vacation, half of the fun is the excitement that comes from planning. Which Disney Park to visit, how many days to stay, where to stay at-there’s so many fun questions to ask.

But one of the most exciting aspects is choosing the right Disney World Resort hotel to stay at. Whether you’re searching for a deluxe Resort, a moderate Resort, or a value Resort, Walt Disney World has it all.

All in all, there are dozens of Disney World Resorts to choose from, making the choice difficult. As if it couldn’t get any more confusing, once you’ve chosen the right Disney Resort hotel for you, you’re also tasked with finding the right room.

Luckily, some changes have been made that will simplify the entire process.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa DVC Room

If you’ve planned a Walt Disney World vacation before, you can probably remember how many options there were when booking a room. Not only did you have to choose the specific room size, but then you had to choose the room type as well.

But thanks to the new changes, there are only three main categories of room types: Resort view, theme park view, and water view. Each of these room types will only be shown when available and applicable.

Some of the room types change depending on which Disney World Resort hotel the user is viewing, as well. To see these new changes, simply visit Walt Disney World’s official website and check out any deluxe Resort, moderate Resort, or value Resort. And if you get a headstart on your next Disney vacation, it’s just a win/win!

Male Guest Trespassed for Slapping Female Cast Member

A South Dakota tourist reportedly drunk at a Disney resort bar was arrested for slapping a female Disney security guard’s rear end.

Andrew Ticknor, 36, a Sioux Falls resident who runs Jersey Mikes franchises, was arrested for battery on a uniformed security guard and trespass on property after a warning, records showed.

Ticknor’s arrest happened in March following an incident at the Three Bridges Bar and Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, according to an Orange County Sheriff’s arrest report released months later.

The security guard, who was not identified in the arrest report, told authorities Ticknor “open hand slapped her left buttock at one point,” the arrest report said.

At first, she did not want to prosecute Ticknor as long as he was trespassed, but she changed her mind after speaking to her manager.

Ticknor would have known without a doubt the woman worked as a security officer. The arrest report noted she wore the proper uniform with security patches on both shoulders and had a large security badge on the front of her shirt.

No surveillance video existed of the incident.

When he was called to the scene, Orange County sheriff’s deputy Justin Pickle described seeing Ticknor “intoxicated and stumbling around near the entrance of the restaurant,” the arrest report said.

Disney wanted Ticknor, who was visiting Disney with his wife and family, trespassed.

Ticknor left the hotel in an Uber with his father, and the Orange County Sheriff’s office planned to forward charges to the state attorney’s office.

However, Ticknor didn’t stay away, and that’s what led to Ticknor’s arrest. He returned to Coronado and went back to his hotel room, so the resort manager contacted law enforcement.

Law enforcement returned to arrest Ticknor, who was also issued a second trespass from Disney.

Ticknor has since pleaded not guilty to the two first-degree misdemeanor charges, according to Orange Circuit Court records. A trial date has been set for June 26.
