President Trump to Attend a GOP Fundraiser at The Grand Floridian Resort

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has shared that President Donald Trump will headline the state’s major annual Republican Party fundraiser. The Republican Party’s Statesman’s Dinner will be held on December 7th at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort in Walt Disney World.

Last year, the event raised Florida Republicans $500,000 and is their preeminent fundraising event annually.

Construction Update on Room Refurbishments At All Star Music Resort

Room refurbishments have been underway at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort for just over a year now, but with improvements finalized over on that side of the resort, work has begun on the guest rooms at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort.

Work is starting on Building 10 of the Calypso section, meaning the resort is down an entire section of Preferred Rooms.

Based on how All-Star Music is set up with no room buildings flanking the main lobby, this could mean your odds of getting a Preferred Room close to Intermission Food Court and the bus stops are slightly lower. Do keep in mind that parts of the Jazz section are also considered Preferred Rooms, so more and more Preferred Room guests may be getting funneled back that way out of lack of rooms in Calypso.

For the most part, however, the rooms are slated to look just like the ones at Disney’s All-Star Movies after the refurbishment, with clean white walls, updated coffee stations, a Mickey headboard, and Huey Dewey, and Louie art in rooms with pull-down murphy beds.

All rooms feature a huge flat-screen television, larger even than most older televisions at Deluxe Resorts that haven’t been refurbed yet. The televisions are placed on moving arm displays so you can tilt them to your preference.

Another important amenity that’s getting an upgrade with these refurbs is the hotel Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi at all refurbished resort hotels, like Disney’s All-Star Movies and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, is far better and faster. This is because all of the wiring and fiber-optics get redone as part of the refurb.

Pop Century Resort Airline Check-In Area Expansion

With the Disney Skyliner now open, there’s a lot more people looking to stay at the resorts on the line, including Pop Century. The resort’s airline check-in area is currently under refurbishment.

The airline check-in area is expanding, and construction has gone vertical behind the lobby. There’s a circular frame on one side, and another portion is wavy. The roofing of the new structure has a unique shape that seems fitting for a resort with such themed elements all around.

Near the entrance to the lobby, you can find the temporary check in and luggage assistance. For now, you can use this temporary location near the entrance, but eventually guests will be able to use the newly refurbished airline check-in located behind the lobby.

Disney Sells Land Next to Vero Beach Resort

Disney has sold off approximately 26 acres of land next to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, according to TC Palm‘s Colleen Wixon.

DVCNews.com reports that the land was previously earmarked for a resort expansion that was ultimately canceled due to low timeshare sales at the resort. The land that was sold is west of the resort’s parking lot, on the western end of S.R. A1A, not including the existing resort support facilities, recreation and parking facilities on that end of the road. The pond adjacent to the facilities is included in the sale.

The land has been sold to GHO Homes, who will build single-family homes and attached villas on the property. The residential development is still being designed, with sales likely beginning in 2021. GHO Homes’ president, Bill Handler, did not reveal the purchase price of the property. Earlier this year, the 32.6 acres of the resort was appraised at $4.6 million, according to Indian River County records.

This sale is not expected to affect existing operations at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. Disney Vacation Development, Inc. has not issued any comment on the manner.
