Disneyland Guests are outraged over the treatment for Guests using Disney Genie+ and Lighting Lane.
Disneyland Resort, known as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” is a popular tourist location seeing thousands of Guests daily. Disneyland is home to two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Each Disney Park includes something for Guests of all ages and sizes to experience. Being this popular, Disneyland has made it where Guests can purchase Genie + or Lighting Lanes for attractions.
At Disneyland, there are two main ways to experience an attraction: the “Lightning Lane” and the “Standby Line.” The Lightning Lane is a new paid service that allows Guests to bypass the traditional standby line and access rides more quickly. Disney Guests can either purchase Genie +, which includes Lightning Lane or Guests can just purchase Individual Lighting Lane for certain Disneyland attractions.
The Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lane services work by allowing Disney Park Guests to make reservations for certain attractions in advance. These reservations can be made using the Disneyland app or at kiosks located throughout the theme park. Guests who have made a reservation for an attraction using Lightning Lane can bypass the standby line and use a separate entrance to access the attraction. Prices for the service vary based on the time of day and the popularity of the attraction. It should also be noted that you’re not guaranteed to be able to book a time to ride your favorite attractions as reservations can go quickly, especially for popular rides.
While Guests who chose to use the Standby Line, which is the traditional queue, may wait longer than those who are going through the Lightning Lane, there are no extra fees. But, it seems that Disney is facing some pressure from Guests who are upset with the service.
In a social media post, many have started to get angry with the treatment of Guests using the Lighting Lane instead of the regular Standby Line. In this post, Guests were waiting for a popular Disneyland attraction and they say the line was moving slowly. Though the regular wait time said 105 minutes, this Guest waited over two hours. When they got to the front, the Disney Cast Member was reportedly only allowing four Standby Line Guests to go at a time, filling the rest of the space with Lightning Lane Guests.
“Yesterday I noticed when we were in line for Guardians at DCA the line was moving rather slowly. Estimate was 105 min but it ended up being over 2 hours. As we made it into the front before preshow I saw the CM could only let 4 standby guests at a time MAX into the room, the rest was full of LL. Does anyone know why? (I get LL has priority) Preferably a CM explain it. I am honestly just curious because I never noticed it to be like that?”
While Lighting Lane or Genie + does not mean you will be at the front of the line ,Guests who purchase will have an advantage over Standby Line, allowing them to pick a certain time and get on the attractions faster. Though many Guests have called for Genie+ to come to an end, it would seem that the controversial system is here to stay.

The Reedy Creek battle between the Walt Disney Company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues, and it turns out that Disney’s prime witness is… Ron DeSantis.
The DeSantis/Disney feud began when the company spoke out against the controversial “Parents Rights of Education” Bill. The Governor then made motions to remove the board in charge of Walt Disney World’s special Reedy Creek Improvement District to ensure he controlled them.
Disney responded to the new board by creating a contract with the former board, giving the company control of the Reedy Creek Improvement District until the last living descendent of King Charles III passed away. Currently, said descendent is two years old.
This has since been followed by attacks from both sides, with DeSantis threatening to build a prison next to Walt Disney World, Disney suing the Governor and the state of Florida, and the newly named Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board counter-suing Disney.
This whole conflict has led to the potential Presidential nominee losing support within his own party. To make matters worse for the Florida Governor, the Walt Disney Company has found an unlikely ally: Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
Disney’s Lawsuit Cites Pages From DeSantis’ Own Book
According to Nicolle Wallace on a recent episode of MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, Disney is using Ron DeSantis’ memoir, The Courage To Be Free, against the Governor.
Wallace said on the program, “Today, Disney’s lawyers are getting help making their case from a very unlikely person, and that is Ron DeSantis. More specifically, his recently published memoir in which he routinely flaunts the idea of a political retaliation campaign — that he thought of all by himself — against Disney. So much so that the actual lawsuit actually cites pages from his book.”
Wallace then quoted the Washington Post: “DeSantis’s book brags about his rapid mobilization of the state legislature to target Disney’s tax district. The same passage declares that this happened because of the company’s support of indoctrinating young schoolchildren in woke gender identity politics.”
Charlie Sykes from The Bulwark further commented that this is a real “quagmire” for the Governor who promotes himself as “an anti-woke bully” and that “he won’t back down,” especially since DeSantis’ Super PAC is named “Never Back Down.”
Sykes closed his remarks, saying, “This is going to play out very differently in a federal court than it does on Twitter.”
Disneyland Resort has finally changed a classic attraction.
Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most beloved attractions at Disneyland Resort, taking Guests on a thrilling journey through a pirate-infested world filled with danger, adventure, and treasure. This attraction has since become a classic ride replicated in several other Disney Parks worldwide.
This attraction begins with a boat ride through a peaceful lagoon before plunging into a dark cavern filled with the sounds of waterfalls and mysterious chanting. The journey then takes Disney Guests through scenes depicting the life of pirates, from pillaging towns and fighting naval battles to partying and searching for treasure. The scenes are brought to life through animatronics, sound effects, and special effects, creating a fully immersive experience that transports guests to a different time and place. One of the most memorable moments in the ride is the battle between the pirate ship and the fortress, complete with cannon blasts and explosions that make Guests feel as if they are right in the middle of the action. The ride also features several iconic characters, including Captain Jack Sparrow, who was added to the ride in 2006 to coincide with the release of the hit movie franchise.
In a social media post, Guests have spotted the return of several missing pirates. Over the last several months, Guests noticed that these were missing, and there has been quite the uproar on social media from Disney Park fans.
“It’s cool to see the animatronics making their comeback at pirates. As of my most recent ride (4 hours ago), im happy to say that they have added back the pirates of the Caribbean main theme to the ship attacking the fort scene. The dont be cheekin woman is back and opens the window. All of the chase scenes are working. They brought back the pirate and the stray cats. The stinky pirate is back over the bridge. The only thing still missing it seems is the 1 or 2 pirates on the right side with the shootout by the powder barrels.”
Pirates of the Caribbean has been at Disneyland for 50 years and counting. The popularity of Pirates of the Caribbean has also led to the creation of a themed land at Disneyland Resort, New Orleans Square, which is home to several pirate-themed attractions, restaurants, and shops.
Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Resort is a must-see attraction that has captured the hearts of generations of visitors. It’s a testament to the creative genius of Disney Imagineers, who have created a ride that continues to delight and inspire guests of all ages to explore a world of adventure, treasure, and swashbuckling fun.
