Characters To Return to Chef Mickey’s on Dec. 16

Mickey Mouse and his best pals are returning to breakfast at Chef Mickey’s restaurant in Disney’s Contemporary Resort on December 16, bringing some new items to the menu inspired by their favorite dishes. Check out the details and photos as shared below by DisneyParksBlog.

Mickey’s “Celebration” Pancake

Along with traditional breakfast favorites, you will be able to try the new Mickey’s “Celebration” Pancake, featuring whipped cream, celebration sprinkles, shimmering pixie dust and more.

“Loaded” Potato-Cheese Casserole

For something a bit more savory, we’re adding a new “Loaded” Potato-Cheese Casserole topped with smoked bacon crumbles and chives.

Goofy’s Banana Bread French Toast

Last but not least, Goofy’s Banana Bread French Toast will combine unique flavors of banana bread baked in zesty orange-scented French toast batter, topped with Espresso-mascarpone cream, toasted bananas and chocolate crumbles.

If you can’t decide on which new item to try, you’ll be able to taste all three as part of an all-you-care-to-eat family style feast with other traditional breakfast favorites.

When Mickey and friends return, the experience may look a little different than the last time you visited, but you can still expect to smile, wave and make unforgettable memories with some of your favorite characters as they parade through the restaurant in their chef’s best.

Reservations for Chef Mickey’s character breakfast will open on October 17, based on availability. In addition, Disney Resort hotel guests can make reservations up to 60 days in advance plus the length of their stay (up to 10 days). For more information, please click here.

Disney’s Housekeeping and Food & Beverage Cast Members Get Raises

Big news for several Disney Cast Members, as the Local 737, the Union of hotel & restaurant workers at Disney, took to Facebook to share the news of raises arriving for Cast Members.

As shared on the Orlando Hotel and Restaurant Workers Movement Facebook page:

“Update for Local 737 Disney Workers! RAISES ARE TODAY: October 4! $16 minimum for Housekeeping. $14 minimum for most Food & Beverage workers. The raises apply to the almost 9,000 Housekeeping and Food & Beverage workers who are back at work. If you are still on furlough, you will get the raise whenever you are called back to work. The raises for Tipped workers are on December 27, but you will get the October 4 raise whenever you take paid time off. We fought hard for these raises back in 2017 and 2018. At a time of economic crisis when many non-union companies are freezing and cutting their workers’ pay, our Union contract protects us! WHAT ABOUT LAYOFFS? All 6 Unions of the Service Trades Council continue to talk with Disney about their announcement. How many full-time and part-time Cast Members will be affected, how long health insurance and recall rights will continue and many other issues crucial to Cast Members are on the table. As soon as more information becomes available, we will notify our members.”

Florida Moves Into Phase 3 Reopening; No Restrictions on Restaurant & Bar Capacity

HUGE NEWS for Florida last week! Governor Ron DeSantis issued an executive order September 25, removing all remaining restrictions on businesses because of COVID-19. Bars and restaurants are no longer required to operate at less than full capacity effective immediately.

As shared by OrlandoSentinel: “We are today moving into what we initially called phase 3,” DeSantis said during a press conference in St. Petersburg. “And what that’ll mean for the restaurants is there will not be limitations from the state of Florida.” “We’re also saying in the state of Florida everybody has a right to work,” he added. “(Local governments) can do reasonable regulations but they can’t just say no.”

There are four major provisions of the order:

  • It removes all remaining state-level restrictions on businesses, including on bars and restaurants, which were capped at 75% capacity in Phase 3 of DeSantis’ original reopening plan.
  • It provides a general right to work and to operate a business. Local governments can limit and regulate businesses, but won’t be able to close businesses because of coronavirus concerns.
  • Local governments won’t be able to prevent restaurants from operating at below 50% capacity. Under previous orders, local governments could go further than state-level restrictions, and counties in South Florida kept restaurants and bars closed after the state allowed them to reopen. Also, cities and counties won’t be able to impose any restrictions without an economic and health justification.
  • Cities and counties can’t collect on any outstanding fines they issued as part of their pandemic response. The order, though, doesn’t compel local governments to refund anyone who has already paid a fine.

Disney Testing Mobile Order-Table Service to Go

Walt Disney World’s Mobile Ordering Service is a fantastic way to order meals from quick-service restaurants. It appears that Disney is now testing this service to include a new feature called “Mobile Oder-Table Service to Go,” allowing guests to easily order to-go meals from table service restaurants. Right now this is only available at Sanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani Village.

In the My Disney Experience App, at the bottom of the page is a “+” button. Once you push that button, you’ll be given four options: check dining availability, order food, shop memory maker, and buy tickets and passes. Click on the “order food” button, and you’ll be able to see the different restaurants that offer Mobile Ordering.

As you scroll down, you’ll see “Sanaa To Go – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani Village.” You’ll be able to choose an arrival window, just like at a quick-service restaurant.

After that, you’ll see a new informational pop-up that gives information on this new service including:

  • Arrival Window – let us know when to begin freshly preparing your order during the time slot you selected.
  • Prep & Wait Time – These meals are made to order, so expect the wait to be about the same as if you were to sit down at a restaurant.
  • Order Pick Up – Please hold off on going to the restaurant until we notify you that your order is ready.

Next, you’ll be able to “Build Your Order.” You’ll be able to view the menu and build your order, just as you would for a sit-down meal.

Next, you’ll select payment methods and pay for your order.
