Customize Disney Merchandise With MADE

What’s better than a Disney souvenir? How about a Disney souvenir that has been personalized! Disney is sharing exciting news with the launch of MADE – the perfect way to add your personal touch to one of Disney’s many trending merchandise. Check out the details below from DisneyParksBlog:

The Marketplace at Disney Springs has always been the go-to destination for personalized Disney merchandise. From talented customization artists at Disney’s Days of Christmas (who hand-paint and hand-letter the most beautiful ornaments) to Disney’s Wonderful World of Memories where you can get your favorite pair of Mickey ears embroidered, there are so many fun ways to add a personal touch to your Disney finds. One favorite personalization experience is D-Tech on Demand at Marketplace Co-Op. This unique tech boutique opened as one of the original six stores in 2014 and continues to be the ultimate destination for customized mobile phone cases, MagicBands, accessories and more.

The Disney Parks Merchandise Team has continued to evolve the D-Tech on Demand experience and is now offering MADE—a new and expanded way to customize and create your own Disney merchandise. With MADE, you’ll now be able to create customized apparel, including short and long-sleeved T-shirts, (even Disney Springs designs) from a library of Disney art to celebrate everything from family vacations, birthdays, seasonal holidays and more. (Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to customize phone cases, MagicBands, magnets, and commemorative bricks as well.) Creating your design is as easy as selecting the accessory or apparel item you’d like to customize, Disney art, choosing a color, and adding your name. Purchases are ready for pick-up in just a few hours or conveniently delivered to your Disney resort or shipped home.

Guests will start to see this new brand transitioning at current D-Tech on Demand locations inside our retail stores including:

  • Magic Kingdom Park – Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.*, Frontierland Trading Post, and Curtain Call Collectables
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Star Wars Launch Bay and Celebrity 5 & 10 Shop
  • Disney Springs – Marketplace Co-Op* and NBA Experience
  • Disneyland Resort – Star Wars Launch Bay and Star Traders

(*At this time, customized apparel options are available exclusively at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. and Marketplace Co-Op.)

New designs and art will be continually added to the MADE experience throughout the year so be sure to always check and see what’s new. I’m so excited to see what you create! Share your photos with us using #DisneySprings for a chance to be featured on our social media channels.

Disney Announces Multi-Day Celebration For 50th Anniversary of Earth Day

Disney has announced some exciting celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and the 25th anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund this year on April 22, 2020. That day is also the anniversary of the park and so we are really looking forward to all of these events.

Here are all the details from a Disney cast member:

What happens when the 50th anniversary of Earth Day AND the 25th anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund converge on the same day?

Of course – we throw a party! And you’re invited!

From April 18-22, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will host special entertainment and activities throughout the park – culminating in an all-day extravaganza on Earth Day (April 22).

Each day of festivities includes a stellar lineup of expert speakers and entertainment; behind-the-scenes tours; specialty food and beverage; limited-edition merchandise signings; character greetings; photo opportunities; special Wilderness Explorers activities for kids – and MORE!

Throughout the week, in the Wild by Nature Speaker Series, you will get to hear from some of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s animal experts, educators and conservation “Heroes” at the park’s Theater in the Wild – learning about the ways Disney’s own conservation experts are working to save the planet and its wildlife.

And if that weren’t big enough, we’ve invited our new Disney colleagues at National Geographic to join in the fun. Nat Geo Explorers and Photographers will share their stories from the front lines of their explorations as well as wildlife photography and video techniques – showcasing what it takes to get all those stunning “never-before-seen” images and footage. They will join the outstanding roster of the Wild by Nature Speaker Series, and we will debut National Geographic merchandise at Disney Parks that week as well.

Get an insider’s view from our own Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde – one of the driving forces behind the past, present and future of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Joe will delight guests again this year with his Tiffins Talks featuring a spectacular four-course meal and lively discussion on Joe’s research trips and personal exhibitions from a life dedicated to exploration. [Note: Registration for this dining experience will begin February 18.]

You can get a unique look at this year’s Disneynature films debuting on Disney+ in April, Elephant and Dolphin Reef, including discussions with Roy Conli, award-winning producer of the films.

Earth Day 2020 just happens to be the 25th Anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund. The Walt Disney Company is committed to ensuring a world where wildlife thrives and nature is treasured, and the Disney Conservation Fund has been a huge part of that effort, especially at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As part of the celebration, the Disney Conservation Fund will showcase 25 global wildlife heroes, many of whom will present Stories from the Field and recount incredible moments in their work – saving at-risk wildlife around the world – from elephants and rhinos in Africa, to tamarins and anteaters in South America. Many of these stories will be featured in “Disney Conservation Legacy,” a new special edition 25th anniversary book, available for purchase in the park during the Earth Day celebration.

At the Animation Experience at Conservation Station, you will uncover the secret of how Disney animators bring your favorite characters to life – using real life animals as inspiration; and there will be special Disney characters featured for the Earth Day Celebration!

On Earth Day, if you can’t make it out to the park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom also will be one of the places featured in the global live television event “BORN WILD: EARTH DAY LIVE,” simulcast on National Geographic and Nat Geo WILD on April 22, at 8/7c. Produced along with ABC News, the special features revered National Geographic Explorers and leading ABC News anchors and correspondents who will take viewers on a journey into the most fascinating, breathtaking environments around the world to witness and celebrate the diversity and splendor of charismatic baby animals, their families and habitats.

These are just a few of the festivities we have in store for Earth Day 2020.

Nighttime Magic Shots With The Photopass Service

The Disney PhotoPass Service may have celebrated their 15th Anniversary back in December but they aren’t ready to stop the fun! We have just heard that the celebration is going to extend all the way through 2020.

They have just announced a new set of Nighttime Magic Shots available after dark from February 1 – April 19, 2020. Let’s take a look…

New Nighttime Magic Shots

This one can be found in front of the Tree of Life on Discovery Island at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

You can feel like a celebrity in this Magic Shot located near Once Upon a Time on Sunset Boulevard at Hollywood Studios.

This hidden Mickey isn’t so hidden! You can find this one at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. before the hub at Magic Kingdom.

Extended by popular demand! This Magic Shot is still available at the main entrance of Epcot.

And how much are we loving this Tinker Bell lantern in the UK pavilion at Epcot!

Beginning Valentine’s Day, a photographer near Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom Park will offer a prop featuring Cinderella’s glass slipper after the sun goes down. This prop combined with the stunning backdrop of Cinderella Castle – all expertly captured by our photographers – is the perfect opportunity for you to capture a unique keepsake.

Two New Baby Animals Born @ Animal Kingdom; Now On View

January has brought two new additions to the Disney’s Animal Kingdom family. A baby Hartmann’s zebra, the first foal of the species to be born at the park, can be seen at Kilimanjaro Safaris. Meanwhile, Douglas, an Angolan black-and-white colobus monkey, can be seen on view at Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.

Per Disney:

On Jan. 21, a yet-to-be-named Hartmann’s zebra foal was born to mom Prima under the care of the West Savanna team. This moment marks a milestone for the park as it is the first time this vulnerable zebra species has been born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Weighing in at about 65 pounds, the foal was standing and walking within 30 minutes of birth.

This little one is doing well and bonding backstage with his mom. Much of the time, he is nursing, napping and starting to play and explore his mom’s hay. When he’s ready, he will be introduced in stages to the other zebras and then join the herd as they go out onto the savanna. Be on the lookout for zebra the next time you go on Kilimanjaro Safaris!

Swinging on to other baby news… a male Angolan black-and-white colobus monkey named Douglas was born on Jan. 15 to mom Zahra at Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. Look up high and you can see this small white fur ball snuggling close to his mom. As he grows up, his color will change to black with white around his face, and on his tail, like the others in his troop.

Douglas is the second of his family to be born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. His sister Alika (on the left) was born in 2018 and likes to preen him while mom looks on.
